In order to deal with the torque pulsation problem of the PM synchronous motor in the low-speed region, new torque estimation and control techniques are proposed. The linkage flux of the PM synchronous motor is estimated using a model reference adaptive control system technique and the developed torque of the motor is instantaneously controlled by a torque controller combining variable structure control with space vector PWM. The proposed control scheme provides the advantage of reducing the torque pulsation caused by the nonsinusoidal flux distribution of the motor. This control strategy is applied to a high torque PM synchronous motor drive system for direct drive applications and implemented by using a software of the DSP TMS320C30. As far as voltage-mode control is concerned, a novel multi-loop control allows synthesis of the desired regulator transfer function by using only low-pass filters, thus reducing the high-frequency noise coupling typical of standard PID regulators and reducing the dependency of crossover frequency and phase margin on output capacitor ESR. They are used from simple applications like camera flashes to extremely demanding ones such as photometry, chemical analysis, spectroscopy, etc. A power supply to drive a xenon lamp must provide a substantially high voltage and current, and must provide a controlled high voltage pulse to strike the arc. The influence of the parameters of the power supply and parasitics on light output, stability and lamp life is analyzed in this paper. With the additional neutral leg, the space vector modulation control is much more complex, and there is no precedent literature addressing this issue. In this paper a general definition of space vector in a three-dimensional space is described. Solution for the output characteristics of the inverter is illustrated by the output plane plot of the inverter. Many of the converters utilized in Nortel products are standard \"off the shelf\" commercial units, available from a wide variety of manufacturers. With the proliferation of the use of these devices, former qualification methods had proven incapable of assuring the quality and reliability requirements for a telecom environment. By using the proposed filter in the inverter terminal, the rising and the falling edge of the PWM waveform of the inverter are smoothed, resulting in less voltage gradient to the AC motor. Limits were found for the proper operation of the snubber and are expressed as permissible duty cycle as a function of input current. It was found that a modified version of the snubber, which includes a tapped main inductor, improves the performance by allowing a wider operational range. The experimental results confirm the theoretical analysis.
