Furthermore, previous brownfield conversion practices and optimum future use of military brownfield sites have been analysed, depending on their specific position in the urban agglomeration. The analysis is based on research that included semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders in brownfield regeneration in the Zagreb Urban Agglomeration.","PeriodicalId":42319,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatski Geografski Glasnik-Croatian Geographical Bulletin","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84988785","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is a highly karstified landscape, with numerous surface and subterranean karst forms. The objective of this study was to determine the significance of the karst relief and the processes of its formation, with the aim of examining the interaction of these two large units during their geomorphological evolution. General and specific digital geomorphometric analyses were used, with geomorphological mapping. Within the morphogenetic approach, the morphostructural conditions of karstification, spatial distribution and significance of karst, and fluviokarst relief forms were analysed. Several dry valleys were established, indicating that this area was the important corridor for surface runoff from the Ogulin-Plaški basin towards the Una-Korana plateau. Tectonic up-lifting of the narrow zone between these two units created an orographic barrier, which hindered any further surface runoff and created the conditions for the development of karst subterranean watercourses. This paper provides a proposal of the morphogenesis model of the Ogulin-Plaški basin, summarised with the description “flattening and closure”.","PeriodicalId":42319,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatski Geografski Glasnik-Croatian Geographical Bulletin","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86044088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the case study of the Town of Mali Lošinj (Croatia), the paper scrutinises the carrying capacity of beaches categorised according to their basic characteristics and presents an analysis of beach capacity in the real conditions of the 2018 tourist season and in three hypothetical scenarios, two of which involve the application of recommendations for COVID-19 epidemiological measures. The basic hypothesis of the paper is that the real carrying capacity of beaches in the researched area under normal conditions is close to the upper load limits and that the carrying capacity of beaches will no longer be sufficient (vis-à-vis demand) when epidemiological recommendations are applied. The aim of this paper is to provide measurable bases for sustainable physical plans and development policies in tourism.","PeriodicalId":42319,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatski Geografski Glasnik-Croatian Geographical Bulletin","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-12-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78889567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By directly connecting consumers with producers, middlemen are bypassed and short food supply chains are created. This paper focuses on the development of local food systems that have emerged as a result of cooperation between groups of solidary exchange (Grupe solidarne razmjene or GSR for short) and organic farmers. The research is based on qualitative methodology, i.e. semi-structured interviews, and participant observation. A total of 15 interviews with organic food producers were conducted over the last two years (2017–2019). This research shows that cooperation with GSRs, i.e. distribution of products through short food supply chains, has had a series of advantages for producers. GSRs represent a good market for organic products and guarantee fair and stable prices, immediate (or even advance) payment upon delivery of products, and greater autonomy for producers. In addition to its financial advantages, this is a system that fosters social ties and relationships with consumers, in which producers feel appreciated, respected, and supported.","PeriodicalId":42319,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatski Geografski Glasnik-Croatian Geographical Bulletin","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77884996","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are embedded in named areas and are the bearers of geographical data. If interpreted correctly, they can properly explain and refer to geographical phenomena and processes. Therefore, they have become a topic of geographical research over the last decades. The purpose of the article is to present and evaluate the attitude of Croatian geographers towards geographical names. After reviewing Croatian geographical literature that deals with toponyms, several aspects of toponymic research have been specified-one linguistic and five geographical (cartographical, political-geographical, historical-geographical, cultural-geographical, theoretical-methodological)-as well as two approaches in toponymic studies (toponyms as a means of identification, communication, orientation, and as sources in scientific study). Roughly ten Croatian geographers have seriously engaged with toponyms in the last 120 years, which implies that toponyms have not been recognised as a relevant research topic, or as a source of information in studies. However, a change in the attitudes of researchers regarding toponyms in the last twenty years is evident.","PeriodicalId":42319,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatski Geografski Glasnik-Croatian Geographical Bulletin","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2020-06-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"78997328","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Značajne promjene zemljišnog pokrova, pretežito napuštanje zemljišta, dogodile su se u perifernim ruralnim područjima diljem Središnje i Istočne Europe nakon raspada socijalizma. Jedno je takvo područje Požeško-slavonska županija u Hrvatskoj, za koju su modelirane promjene zemljišnog pokrova od 1985. do 2027. godine. Prevladavajuća promjena od 1985. do 2013. bila je sekundarna sukcesija. Simulacijski model budućih promjena zemljišnog pokrova temeljen je na ćelijskim automatima i umjetnim neuronskim mrežama i realiziran u dodatku MOLUSCE za QGIS. Validacija testnih modela pokazala je da su oni točnije predviđali kvantitetu (bolje od lokacija) promjena te da je naknadna kombinacija individualnih rezultata simulacija nešto poboljšala njihovo podudaranje s referentnim podatcima. For this purpose, absolute, and relative spatial concentrations—HirfindahlHirschman's index and variants of the Gini coefficient of concentration (Gini coefficient, spatial Gini coefficient and Gini location coefficient)—were applied. As a basis for their calculation, data on the number of employees per county are used. The results show that the most spatially-concentrated activities are those of the tertiary sector, in particular activities related to information and communication. Some activities are highly concentrated in the City of Zagreb, while others are highly concentrated in certain coastal counties. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing have the most even spatial arrangement. Most of the researched activities did not show a significant change in degree of spatial concentration between 2009 and 2016.","PeriodicalId":42319,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatski Geografski Glasnik-Croatian Geographical Bulletin","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2018-12-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86085972","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Central functions were determined using desk methods and field survey, and they consisted of education, health services, supply, telecommunication, and self-government. The frequency, method, and direction of commuting habits were investigated using a questionnaire survey on a representative sample of the local population (for the basic functions of education, health services, supply, and culture). The research revealed a lack of adequate functions in the City of Nova Gradiška itself and the whole investigated area, which forces majority of the population to commute occasionally or regularly to other urban centres, particularly to Slavonski Brod and Zagreb, whose catchment areas overlap in this area, despite the difference in distance. The questionnaire survey proved that the main problem was not the number or type of functions but their quality, due to which some of the respondents preferred to commute to Zagreb, which had a higher perceived quality of services.","PeriodicalId":42319,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatski Geografski Glasnik-Croatian Geographical Bulletin","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2018-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89583057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper shows which models and research methodologies were used to ascertain how physical-geographical factors influence vehicle cross-country mobility. Research has shown that slope has been used most frequently as a parameter, followed by soil properties, surface roughness, watercourses, vegetation types, and climatic-meteorological conditions. The quality of the results achieved so far has been largely determined by the quality and accuracy of the input data and by the various methods used in the models. Recent studies have shown that the Geographic Information System (GIS) unifies the issues determining vehicle terrain trafficability, as it displays all possibilities in a single platform.","PeriodicalId":42319,"journal":{"name":"Hrvatski Geografski Glasnik-Croatian Geographical Bulletin","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.4,"publicationDate":"2018-12-21","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"80796018","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
