{"title":"[Differences in the use of health services in the Spanish adult populations].","authors":"Diego Sorli Latorre,&nbsp;Noelia Rubio Lahoz,&nbsp;Patricia Sorli Latorre,&nbsp;Isabel Aguilar Palacio","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To explore the use of health services in the Spanish population, according health insurance.</p><p><strong>Methods: </strong>A cross-sectional study using data from the Spanish National Health Survey 2011-2012 was conducted. 21 007 people were included. Among individuals with health coverage, three groups were differentiated: people with public, private and mixed insurance. Univariate and bivariate analyses were developed to know health services and bivariate analyses were developed to know health services use differences by health insurance.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>83.5 % of the population reported only a public coverage, 2.5 % has only private insurance and 14 % was enrolled in both forms. Individuals with public coverage visited with higher frequency the general physician (81.9 %), while those with only private insurance visited a specialist in the highest proportion (65.6 %). Individuals with only public health coverage presented the longest waiting times, for both programmed hospitalization and medical attention. In general terms, people with double coverage showed the greatest participation in preventive activities.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>Public coverage is the most important coverage of the Spanish population. In this sense, must be taken into account that this stage of life, the old age, although there has been important improvements in the quality of life and in the resolution of health problems, presents certain limitations refers to physical and mental declines that affect to the functional capacity of elderly caregivers. {"title":"[Ramadan and diabetes mellitus in adult muslim population].","authors":"Paula Hinojal Cardeña,&nbsp;Pilar Serrano Gallardo","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Background: </strong>Although sick people are exempted from performing Ramadan, it is estimated that approximately 50 million people with diabetes mellitus (DM) fast during this month.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>To explore the relationship between Ramadan and DM in adult Muslim population as well as management and recommendations from literature related with this issue.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>A narrative review was carried out in PubMed, Cochrane and Cuiden, databases, using controlled and free language for the period 2009-2014, and language filters (Spanish and English). Nurses resolve low emergency acute minor illness, through performance algorithms which increase their resolutions.</p><p><strong>Objectives: </strong>The main objective is to describe acute minor illness in adults solved by nurses at the Manso CUAP trough performance algorithms.</p><p><strong>Justification: </strong>The involvement of nurses in the care for acute minor illness at the CUAPs strengthens their service portfolio and places them at the gateway of the health system. Performance algorithms provide nurses with the ability to manage up to the end the resolution of the user's demand.</p><p><strong>Material and method: </strong>Data collection was carried out for 6 months, during increased pressure flows, analyzing the use of 20 performance algorithms. Data was extracted from computerized medical records.</p><p><strong>Resutls: </strong>Health problems were solved in 1575 patients with an average age of 40 years. The consultations most frequently resolved by the nurses were: injuries (27%), application of techniques (20 %) and health education (13 %).</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The use of performance algorithms for decision-making is effective for acute minor illness nurse care. {"title":"[Prevention and detection of obstetric violence: A need in the Spanish delivery rooms?].","authors":"Natalia Freire Barja,&nbsp;Ana María Luces Lago,&nbsp;Lucía Mosquera Pan,&nbsp;Eva Tizón Bouza","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Introduction: </strong>The obstetric violence (OV) is the type of violence perpetrated against the pregnant woman through acts such as lack of respect to her autonomy and her freedom to decide. The increasing medicalization of the labour process, seems to be associated to this type of violence.</p><p><strong>Objective: </strong>Our objective is to provide health professionals with the necessary knowledge to be able to inform their patients about their rights and recognize those situations that can imply violence during the care process.</p><p><strong>Material and methods: </strong>The literature search was conducted in the following databases: PubMed, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, EMBASE, Joanna Briggs Institute, UpToDate and CUIDEN. The search was limited to articles published during the last five years. The next medical subject heading were used both in English and Spanish: \"humanizing delivery\", \"obstetrics\", \"medicalization\" and \"violence\".</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>The performance of harmful practices and the unjustified medicalization of the labour process represent a potential damage to pregnant women by action, violating their rights as a result. To prevent and eradicate this, new lines of less interventionist work are being proposed.</p><p><strong>Conclusion: </strong>As health professionals we should promote the humanization of labour and informs women about the existent legislation, protocols and guidelines that offer adequate information based on the latest evidence and promote their advance role as patients. The health institutions are responsible for initiating this change, by implementing protocols to guide the practice of the health professionals involved in the care of women during labour. {"title":"[EMOTIONAL DISORDERS IN CHILDREN VICTIMS OF NATURAL DISASTERS].","authors":"Teresa Castaño García,&nbsp;Carmen Vega Díaz,&nbsp;José Antonio Cernuda Martínez","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><p>The effects of disasters on physical health tend to be well-known, with short, medium and long term sequelae. On the other hand, not always is have recognized in the same way the effects on mental health, despite having shown that, in situations of disaster or catastrophe there is a psychological signs of suffering increase and increases to a certain extent the psychiatric morbidity and other problem social. It is estimated that between a third and half of the exposed population, it suffers from some psychological manifestation. It has been erroneously thought that children and adolescents, not suffering with the same intensity of especially traumatic situations. In fact it was presumed, given their reactions so different from that of adults, had some protection. Currently, this has denied and minors are considered to be a group of high risk in cases of disasters and emergencies. Investigations carried out, demonstrate that in children and adolescents, the psychological sequels tend to be frequent and affect directly to the physical, mental and social development. Natural disasters are unexpected situations that will produce a serie of emotional reactions of diverse severity in their survivors, especially children, one of the most vulnerable groups due to a less understanding of what happened and difficulty expressing what they feel, having a personality still developing, and so directly affecting their physical, mental and social development. Therefore suffering the emotional scars, they will take longer to resolve and have a lifetime to live with them. These consequences should be treated by a corresponding community nurse and sometimes, depending on the severity and persistence (more than 3 months), a referral will be made to a qualified mental health professional, taking into account a number of recommendation and assesment canons. Parents or tutors with health professionals have an important role in the recovery of their children and their reactions will be very influenced by these firts. Bad pain not properly relieved contributes to the suffering of the patient and family. This may encourage them to seek additional complementary and alternative therapies, such as the one in our literature review. Reiki is understood as a healing method that uses universal energy to achieve balance and harmony of body, mind and soul, through the laying on of hands. Reiki is a relatively new the rapyin relation to the relief of the symptoms of cancer. In fact, there are still a few articles in this field. Currently, the authors explore the evidence on the effectiveness of Reiki in relation to cancer pain and symptom control. Due to the increased interest deposited in Reiki by the health professionals--especially for oncology professionals--to relieve the symptoms of cancer, there has been a synthesis of recent studies to provide the evidence so far. {"title":"[CONSEQUENCES OF FALLS IN A GERIATRIC NURSING CENTER FOR VALID. DESCRIPTIVE STUDY].","authors":"Begoña Pellicer García,&nbsp;David Delgado Sevilla,&nbsp;Raúl Juárez Vela,&nbsp;Loreto María García Moyano,&nbsp;Ramon Arbués Enrique,&nbsp;Sandra Guerrero Portillo","doi":"","DOIUrl":"","url":null,"abstract":"<p><strong>Objective: </strong>To address the immediate consequences produced in the falls suffered by valid institutionalized elderly population' in the last twelve months.</p><p><strong>Method: </strong>A cross sectional study, by personal interview. Simple random sampling was performed. The study area corresponded to a private nursing home. The measuring instruments used in the study were the Mini Mental State Examination Lobo (MEC-35, 1979) to initially assess the level of cognitive development elderly study participants, and the WHO questionnaire for the study of falls in the elder 1989.</p><p><strong>Results: </strong>Of the 21 drops produced in the last twelve months was found that 61.9% of falls were female, compared to 38.1% who relapsed in males. 52.4% of falls are not caused any consequences. 28.6% of falls caused superficial injuries and/or bruises, while the proportion of fractures corresponded to 19% for both sexes. Most of the falls did not produce immediate consequences whose percentage was 52.4% of cases. Second are superficial wounds and/or bruises with 28.6% and finally fractures with a ratio of 19%.</p><p><strong>Conclusions: </strong>The investigators considered the necessity of involvement of health professionals and the implementation ofpreventive strategies that can reduce the prevalence of falls.
