We formulate an optimisation problem that chooses base station locations and assign channels to them so as to minimise the overall installation and call blockage costs. Since this problem is a difficult non-linear integer program, we develop an efficient algorithm that finds the optimal solution. The objective of this study is to enhance the impact of customer information in a variety of innovation fields by implementing the 'best fit' customer relationship strategy in a small company. The investigation of the alternative innovation determinants and customer relation strategies has led in defining a new framework for the selection and progress of the customer relation strategy with the focus of innovation. A combination of the Analytical Hierarchical Processing (AHP) and Delphi methods is used in designing the decision framework, which is evaluated by a case study run on five small companies representing design-based and food industries. It is observed that small companies are enthusiastic in applying innovations in various fields but are not yet aware of the importance of customer collaboration. Besides, innovation strategies are differentiated by the age and business focus of the company. These technologies may be independently developed by different firms. Each firm may possess a technology that has a much greater value when combined with those of the other firms to form a complementary system. The success of such a system hinges to a large extent on the ability of the firms to coordinate their innovation activities. In this paper, we build a simple model to illustrate the incentive coordination issue. We show that independent firms make less effort than an integrated firm. We use case examples to discuss how Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), equity investments and cross-licensing serve as mechanisms to align incentives. M&A yield optimum effort levels and are often observed. Cross-equity investments tend to encourage greater effort than independent firms. A fundamental problem in mapping this dynamic is the lack of an acceptable theoretical framework through which to direct empirical investigations. Most of the models in the literature on network externalities have been developed in a static framework, with the externalities viewed as instantaneous or self-fulfilling. The model specified here builds on the received theory from several sources to extend these features and develops a dynamic model that is both capable of econometric estimation and which provides as an output a direct measure of the network effect. Accordingly, the main goal of this paper is to find the magnitude of the external effect on internet network growth. To this end, the so-called Three-Criteria Test (TCT) has been developed to identify those markets that, in principle, might be subject to regulatory intervention. In the proposed paper, we will show that: the current two-step approach shows a strong bias towards excessive regulation; the TCT, as such, can be a useful tool for regulation (and deregulation), if adopted properly. The paper starts from the thesis that the current practice fails to make use of the advantages that could be derived from using the test. This paper aims at analysing a situation that deviates from net neutrality and thereby studying the competitive outcomes when price discrimination is followed. The characteristics of internet platform as a two-sided market are initially reviewed followed by the analysis of the existing pricing mechanism of the internet service providers. The analysis throws light on the benefits accrued by the stakeholders, namely internet service provider, application provider and subscriber. With this understanding of the internet platform, the current issues of regulating net neutrality and ways of introducing price discrimination are briefly discussed. Using the Norton-Bass model and the Islam-Meade model, it plots annual mobile service penetration rate data from 1956 to 2010 to explain the pattern of mobile telephone service diffusion. The results show that only the Norton-Bass model could achieve convergence status in the programme iteration. The results also suggest that the diffusion process is affected more by external factors, such as word of mouth, than by the inherent innovativeness of users. Each type of technology is also found to have different market potential, with newer technology having greater market potential than older technology. This study therefore investigated the effect of brand awareness, brand association, brand loyalty, perceived quality, and other proprietary brand assets on competitive advantage in alcoholic beverage products and producers in Kabale District Uganda. The study employed descriptive and multiple regression analyses. The estimates from the multiple regression model indicated that brand equity has significant effect on competitive advantage among alcoholic beverages products and producers. This is evident in the statistical significance of the brand awareness, brand loyalty, and perceived quality variables at the 5% significant. We conclude therefore that brand equity has positive and significant predictive effect on competitive advantage. It can be shown that dual-till instruments dominate for lower levels of fixed costs, whereas single-till regulation performs better for higher levels of fixed costs. The specified recommendation depends, however, additionally on the particular assignment of fixed costs.
