This may be due to the age and gender of animals, different experimental conditions, exposure time, ethanol solution dosage and concentration as well as the methods of administration of the ethanol solution. Material and methods: Three studies (Study 1, N = Study 2, N = 351; Study 3, N = 1054) were performed to establish psychometric properties, construct and criterion validity of SEUS Słowa among Polish high school students. Two different versions of SEUS were developed (48- and 30-item). Their results were correlated with the Bergen Facebook Addiction Scale (BFAS) and standardised questionnaires for measuring psychological variables. Results: SEUS construct validity was checked with Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) procedures. The long 48-item version was reduced to 14 items on which SEUS-14 is based. The final one-factor solution explained 57.7% of variance. The reliability measured with Cronbach’s α is very good. SEUS-14 correlates with BFAS and psychological measures of personality traits, narcissism, self-esteem and Behavioural Activation System, which confirms the scale criterion validity. Discussion: The presented study findings are consistent with the results of other research on Facebook or internet addiction. Regarding the construct validity, one-factor solution turned out to be the best while correlation analysis confirmed SEUS criterion validity. Conclusions: SEUS-14 has demonstrated good psychometric properties in a national sample of Polish adolescents. The measure, treated as a screening tool, can be used for scientific purpose though further studies on the broader use of the scale are necessary.","PeriodicalId":42147,"journal":{"name":"Alkoholizm i Narkomania-Alchoholism and Drug Addition","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71046342","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Modified versions of Self-Help Model Scale (SHMS) and Mobile Application Rating Scale (MARS) were used for evaluation. Results: All applications got a low score on SHMS (1-18 points); the average score was only Streszczenie Wprowadzenie: Celem badania była ocena potencjału dostępnych w domenie publicznej aplikacji mobilnych do uzależnionych alkoholu jako narzędzi wspierających proces leczenia alkoholu. Słowa 4 points (min. = 1, max. = 7.7). Most applications received points on educational and motivational level, only two applications contained functionalities related to development of coping strategies in high risk situations. Results of scoring on MARS subscales (min. 1, max. 5 points) were higher. The functionality of applications was as-sessed as rather high (average score 4 points), the lowest score was related to the quality of information (average score 2 points). The average score of app features directly related to coping with alcohol use disorder (AUD) was 3 points (min. = 1.2, max. = 4.1). Applications which were scored high on the MARS were also scored relatively highest on SHMS. Researchers were unable to identify any scientific studies conducted in order to assess the efficacy of those applications as tools supporting the persons with AUD in their recovery process. Conclusions: Mobile applications for persons ex-periencing alcohol-related problems are focused mainly on self-monitoring. It seems important that other domains like the motivational, educational, and related to crisis intervention and forms of social support are being developed as well. The concern about lack of privacy has been identified as one of major challenges.","PeriodicalId":42147,"journal":{"name":"Alkoholizm i Narkomania-Alchoholism and Drug Addition","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71046605","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study was to estimate blood ghrelin con-Streszczenie centration in alcohol-dependent patients (ADP) centres. Material and methods: Blood ghrelin concentration was examined twice in 67 alcoholics at the beginning of the study and after four weeks of alcohol abstinence, and in 61 social drinkers (control group) at the beginning of the study. Clinical, biochemical and anthropometric parameters of nutritional status were determined in all the study participants. Results: At the beginning of the study, ghrelin blood concentration was significantly lower in the studied persons than those from the control group. The ghrelin concentration in alcohol-de-pendent patients during four-week therapy increased. The independently to changes of ghrelin concentration alcohol craving did not increase and hunger remained stable. These changes of ghrelin were accompanied by an increase in body mass index (BMI) and mid muscle circumference as state of protein nutrition. Discussion: Further studies are needed to explain the clinical importance of the reverse relationships between blood ghrelin concentration and nutritional status in alcohol-dependent patients. Conclusions: The concentration of endogenus ghrelin in blood probably does not seem to be associated with alcohol craving but only with the intensity of drinking and alcohol-dependent patients’ nutritional status.","PeriodicalId":42147,"journal":{"name":"Alkoholizm i Narkomania-Alchoholism and Drug Addition","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71046077","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This has also been noted in Poland and our study attempts to analyse the trend and investigate it in the light of related current knowledge. In the context of mental and behavioural disorders, it clearly emphasises the increase in patient self-awareness and shows the deficiencies in this sector of health care. The aim of this study is to predict the trend of drug poisoning case referrals to the Iranian hospitals up to 2021. Material and methods: The Box & Jenkins model was applied in a longitudinal study to forecast the frequency of drug and alcohol poisoning surveys, which showed that drug abuse prevalence in Iran is higher than the global mean, were also confirmed by our research. The limitation of our study is the lack of access to the full information on psychoactive substance consumption as well as classified information like police and national registry system da-tabases. Conclusions: Our study revealed a rising trend for drug poisoning patients referred to the studied hospitals. The forecasting also suggested that the trend will continue up to 2021 without suitable intervention.","PeriodicalId":42147,"journal":{"name":"Alkoholizm i Narkomania-Alchoholism and Drug Addition","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2020-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"71047409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
