Procurement methods help optimizes all procurement performance parameters such as cost, time, and quality. The choice is usually complex, inconsistent and uncertain given the many participants and variable involved. NG-CDF projects however record an otherwise state of affairs with a sorry state of records across all the procurement methods. For this reason the study sought to establish the effect of procurement method on the performance of NG-CDF funded projects in Kisii County, Kenya. The study adopted a positivism research philosophy and a descriptive survey research with a target population of 2333 persons and ample size of 428 respondents determined by Yamane (1967) formula inclusive of 20% non-response rate. The study found out that procurement method accounts for 1.6% of procurement performance and an R = 0.341 implying a moderately and positively influence on procurement performance. PP = 2.281+ 0.373 (PM) regression model was realized. The study concluded that procurement method has a positively significant effect on procurement performance.","PeriodicalId":42142,"journal":{"name":"Cross Currents","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135726685","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Stockholm and Rio conferences were the starting point for raising awareness of the dangers posed by human activities. To this end, the States undertook to confer on every individual the right to live in a healthy environment. It was only after a struggle by the Human Rights Committee that the right to a healthy environment was recognized as a human right. It is now a subjective right recognized for every human being. The Congolese legislature enshrined this right in article 53 of its constitution. The constitutionalisation of this right gives it the status of a justiciable right. For 17 years now, this right has remained more theoretical than practical in the Democratic Republic of Congo, even though it is a constitutional right. There are several reasons for this theorizing, such as the low number of cases referred to the courts, or the fact that it is impossible to do so, and the absence of environmental litigation. Yet there are many solutions that can make the right to a healthy environment effective in this country. In light of these issues, the study answers the following question: Can violations of the right to a healthy environment be justiciable before Congolese courts? The constitutionalisation of the right to a healthy environment as a human right implies a constitutional obligation on Congolese courts and tribunals to apply not only the Constitution, but also international treaties and agreements enshrining this right and forming an integral part of the Constitution.","PeriodicalId":42142,"journal":{"name":"Cross Currents","volume":"51 2","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135975805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Natural tourism offers more of the geographical characteristics of mountains and coastal areas. Among a number of coastal tourism potentials such as the sea and beaches, there are also mangroves which are widely spread in Bali. There are at least 4 mangrove locations in Bali that have been developed as tourist attractions, namely Batu Lumbang, Wanasari, Perancak and Jungutbatu. These four mangrove tourism businesses offer an ecotourism brand in their tourism product offerings. In particular, ecotourism has a number of criteria in its implementation, starting from being carried out by the community, there are elements of education, environmental preservation and economic elements. All of these elements should be included in existing mangrove tourism activity offerings. Not to mention that as a tourism business based on tourist attractions, mangrove ecotourism management and services must prioritize the completeness of tourist attraction elements such as something to see, to buy, to do, to learn. Other complete aspects that a tourist attraction must have are attraction elements, accessibility, amineties and ancillary service. This research will identify and analyze the completeness of attraction elements, tourist attraction elements and their suitability with existing ecotourism elements in mangrove ecotourism in Bali. In a number of locations, utilization activities are often carried out by community groups and not by parties given the authority to manage the area. In a number of locations, the planning and monitoring processes are often carried out by different parties. It is necessary to reaffirm the matters and authority of area management. It is necessary to recapitulate the results of research carried out at the location so that more complete data is obtained regarding the characteristics of the location.","PeriodicalId":42142,"journal":{"name":"Cross Currents","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135888535","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The chunks of the Nigerian masses which represent the proletariats in Nigeria have been the most deleteriously affected group of the population in Nigeria. In view of the above, this paper examined the impact and implication of the proletariat’s rendezvous in the 2023 general elections in Nigeria. The paper adopted the qualitative research method, while utilizing textbooks, journals, newspapers, government publications, rules of proceedings and internet materials. Also applied was the Rational Choice Theory as propounded by Adam Smith in 1770 as its theoretical framework of analysis to provide understanding, explanation and as well make predictions germane to the problematic. The paper find out and concludes that the 2023 general election in Nigeria fell short of the credibility threshold set. Based on the findings, recommendations were made that additional reforms and improvements are required to ensure that the quality of future elections in Nigeria does not further decline, and that public confidence in the capacity of INEC to conduct elections is restored, while trust in the credibility of elections is re-established.","PeriodicalId":42142,"journal":{"name":"Cross Currents","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135148958","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there have been concerns raised by some scholars regarding alleged irregularities committed by Elsevier. This study aims to investigate the true nature of Elsevier and the authority it claims to exert over the world's scholarly knowledge. It is important to note that this study does not rely on scholarly criticisms of Elsevier. Instead, we adopt a historical inquiry approach to understand Elsevier's identity. The research employs the principles of connecting the dots and following the evidence, and is conducted with an open mind, outside the confines of traditional frameworks. During the investigation, it was discovered that Elsevier had tampered with their original logo, contradicting their claim of using the authentic version. This revelation suggests that they may have been attempting to conceal certain aspects of their organization from scholars. Therefore, this study invites scholars to reexamine Elsevier, irrespective of public opinion and perceived authority.","PeriodicalId":42142,"journal":{"name":"Cross Currents","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136099853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Zamfara State had long been plagued by the complex challenges of banditry, severely hampering its social fabric and economic progress. Through an analysis of the banditry and socioeconomic development in the state, and the limitations of traditional approaches to combating banditry, the paper argued that innovative approaches were needed. Leveraging STEM education can play a critical role in building resilience and empowering communities by equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to address local challenges, such as banditry. Drawing on successful STEM programmes from around the world, the paper also outlined key strategies for implementing effective STEM education beyond classroom in banditry affected areas in the state. The paper suggested that implementing STEM education beyond the classroom will develop critical skills for innovation among teeming youths in Zamfara State, thereby making them well engaged and productive, hence discouraging them from getting involved in any form of banditry related activities.","PeriodicalId":42142,"journal":{"name":"Cross Currents","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135487385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
