The algorithm works on 32-bit image blocks with a 192-bit secret key. The main idea is that the key is employed to drive the Chen's system to generate a chaotic sequence that is inputted to a specially designed function G, in which we use new 8 × 8 S-boxes generated by chaotic maps in [14]. Function G is iteratively performed several times and its last outputs serve as the keystreams to encrypt the original image block. The design of the encryption algorithm is described in detail, along with the security analyses including key space analysis, correlation analysis of two adjacent pixels and analysis of diffusion and confusion. The results indicate that the proposed algorithm has some good desirable cryptography properties and it can be easily used to realize the security cryptosystems over the Internet.","PeriodicalId":420853,"journal":{"name":"2009 8th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Informatics","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114708208","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Having the ability of handling emotions is considered to make autonomic unit more intelligent, more communicative and more social. In this article we try to build an emotion model for agents that act as autonomic units in autonomic systems and can self-manage its behavior to achieve the best performance. From four levels we define four models progressively and the top-level model is defined on the foundation of the three below, combining them as a unity. By given arousing axioms theoretically of several typical emotions, the model is proved to be effective for reasoning emotions of autonomic unit, and can be easily extended for dealing with other type of emotions. On this base an architecture of emotional autonomic unit is described. An example shows that emotion plays an important role in intelligent decision making, which proves the validity of the model and the special function in practice.","PeriodicalId":420853,"journal":{"name":"2009 8th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Informatics","volume":"146 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123349919","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We consider Web granular reasoning as an application of human-inspired granular reasoning. As for human granular reasoning, based on the previous studies about basic-level advantage and its reversal effect, we use fMRI/ERP to investigate how the neural system cooperates and coordinates with each other when the starting point locates in the basic level and how the brain modulates and adapts to the change when the starting point switches to a more general level. The key question is “can we find a new cognitive model for developing human-level Web based granular reasoning and problem-solving?” In order to answer this question, we investigate the cognitive mechanism and neural basis of human problem solving and reasoning, for developing new cognitively inspired Web intelligence models. Based on the above results, we will implement Problem Solver Markup Language (PSML) for representing, organizing, retrieving, and selecting Web information sources with multiple levels of granularity, and develop PSML based Web inference engines for personalized wisdom Web problem solving and services.","PeriodicalId":420853,"journal":{"name":"2009 8th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Informatics","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124474061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With particle swarm optimization algorithm, neural network weights are optimized. Also through the dynamic regulation of the number of radial basis function in neural network hidden layer, neural network structure is optimized. The algorithm is applied to gearbox fault diagnosis. Experimental results show the effectiveness and great performance. We designed a movable clamping fixture and 3-D electric control detection platform for multi-size standby detected optical components. We adopted the Genetic-algorithm to detect the convex of the object to acquire those individually sealed areas which approximately show real particulates in the digital image. We subsequently adopted the Related Vector Machine (RVM) method to recognize particulates. The multi-parameters extracted from geometric space, grey-level space and Gabor-field space separately compose a character vector used for model recognition. The Supported Vector Machine (SVM) and RVM methods are compared using the same samples. Experiments show that RVM possesses better accuracy and requires fewer training samples even if dealing with 19-D problems than other conventional model recognition methods. The research also indicates that the soft sensor system model meets the requirements of surface cleanliness level detection in engineering fields employing ultra-smooth optical components.","PeriodicalId":420853,"journal":{"name":"2009 8th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Informatics","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128237376","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, realizing cooperation or construction remains as a difficult problem confronting agent organizations using different agents running on a heterogeneous agent platform, in contrast to similar agents running on a homogeneous platform. Drawing on prior literature, a definition of general intelligence is given, which defines the latter by reference to an assumed measure of the simplicity of goals and environments. The novel contribution presented is to gauge the simplicity of an entity in terms of the ease of communicating it within a community of embodied agents (the so-called Embodied Communication Prior or ECP). Augmented by some further assumptions about the statistical structure of communicated knowledge, this choice is seen to lead to a model of intelligence in terms of distinct but interacting memory and cognitive subsystems dealing with procedural, declarative, sensory/episodic, attentional and intentional knowledge. A sister paper then extends these ideas to yield a “Cognitive Synergy Theory” that suggests specific conclusions for the architecture of artificial general intelligences, based on the ECP.","PeriodicalId":420853,"journal":{"name":"2009 8th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Informatics","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124052747","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The manual weave pattern classification is not sufficient to give the accurate and precise result and it is time-consuming. There is no such research to index and search for weave pattern specially. In this paper we propose a method to index and search weave patterns. We use pattern clusters, transitions, entropy and Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) directionality as a hybrid approach for the cognitive comparison and classification of weave pattern. There are three common patterns used in textile design. They are plain weave, twill weave and satin weave patterns. First, we classify weave patterns into these three categories according to weave pattern definition and weave point distribution characteristics (weave pattern smoothness and connectivity). Second, we use the FFT to describe the weave point distribution. Finally, we use entropy method to calculate the weave point distribution into a significant index value. Our approach can avoid the problem of pattern duplications in the database. In our experiment, we select and test commonly used weave patterns with our proposed approach. Our experiment results show that our approach can achieve substantially accurate classification.","PeriodicalId":420853,"journal":{"name":"2009 8th IEEE International Conference on Cognitive Informatics","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2009-06-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134005400","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
