Uncertainties in the measurement chain and in the network model (mostly from incomplete knowledge of the model electrical parameters) have to be estimated and further used together with control algorithms, including those based on state estimation procedures. In this paper, several model components are considered and described along with associated uncertainties: the equivalent circuits of the low voltage cable belonging to a generic distribution grid, power transformers and an aerial short medium voltage line. In order to minimize the uncertainty associated with the state estimation variables, only phasor measurement units (PMU) are considered in the measurement layer.","PeriodicalId":420824,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122736117","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A new unique transformation matrix able to extract the balanced, the first unbalanced, and the second unbalanced components suitable for all of the harmonic and interharmonic orders is introduced. The methods have been tested mainly by means of simulations performed on an industrial test system identified by the IEEE Task Force on Harmonic modeling and simulation. The main problem of simulation results is that they tend to disregard measurement uncertainty that, if not properly considered, might lead to an incorrect, or even impossible assessment of responsibility. This paper is therefore aimed at comparing the different available methods from a metrological point of view, in order to provide a wider and more complete basis for evaluating their performances.","PeriodicalId":420824,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130687764","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To this aim the theoretical expression of the DFT Phasor Estimator (DFT-PE) is derived in the case when the observation interval contains both an abrupt variation in the fundamental component amplitude and/or phase, and a decaying dc-offset. The obtained results allow the determination of the DFT-PE phasor amplitude and phase errors during the whole estimation transient. The accuracies of the provided expressions are extensively verified by means of computer simulations.","PeriodicalId":420824,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134521338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this context an accurate yet simple model of the panels is necessary for the evaluation of the power production as well as of the system efficiency in off-line and on-line simulation. In the preliminary stages of large plant design, this model supports design and decision making, by permitting to simulate the whole plants and testing various architectures. In this paper a model of the panel suitable for the uses above, and a procedure to identify its parameters is presented. A case study analyzing the efficiency of a solar plant using the proposed model is also presented. Moreover the importance of the quality of the environmental parameters in evaluating the plant energy production has been discussed.","PeriodicalId":420824,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE International Workshop on Applied Measurements for Power Systems (AMPS)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123613203","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
