In this research, Waste Glass Powder (WGP) was studied to be used as a supplementary material substituted with sand in the concrete mix. The concrete mixes were prepared by replacing the natural sand with WGP in weight proportions of 10% to 50%, with a 10% increment to examine the mechanical effect of WGP addition on concrete performance in the fresh and hardened status. The concrete mixes were tested to evaluate the compressive strength for curing ages 7, 14, 21, 28, 56, and 90 days. Splitting tensile strength was also tested for curing at ages of 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. The obtained results showed a notable decrease in workability value for all concrete mixes with WGP addition. Also, the addition of WGP decreases the compressive strengths of all concrete mixes. However, the WGP enhanced the splitting tensile strength by about 12%. It has been concluded that the WGP can be used as a substituted material replaced with sand up to 30%, which was the optimum replacement ratio based on the Iraqi required specifications. By using this ratio, the compressive strength was decreased by 18% at 28 days of concrete curing age.","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"130 ","pages":"700 - 713"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139016856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Limestone which is a sedimentary rock consists of the mineral calcium carbonate (calcite) or the double carbonate of calcium and magnesium (dolomite). The use of limestone in pavement mixtures is expected to increase the performance of Marshall parameters. This study aims to determine the suitability of limestone as a filler for 3 types of pavement mixtures, namely Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course, Hot Rolled Sheet and Split Mastic Asphalt. In this study, the limestone used was sourced from Jorong Durian, Nagari Kamang Mudiak, Kamang Magek District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province. The tests were carried out using following variations of limestone; 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% of the total amount of filler in the mixture. The results of the study using limestone as filler obtained at an optimum content of 29% for AC-WC, 22% for HRS, and 82.5% for SMA. In addition, AC-WC pavement was found to the best increase in Marshall stability performance. Therefore, it can be concluded that limestone from Kamang Mudiak is most suitable to be added to AC-WC pavement mixtures.","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"145 ","pages":"618 - 629"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139017231","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Traditional energy resources are rapidly depleting. During the extraction and burning of fossil fuels, many different pollutants enter the environment. One of the renewable forms of energy is wind energy. Wind energy is mainly used to generate electricity in wind farms. Wind turbines are a unique source of noise because they are installed at a high height above the ground, and the noise emitted is fluctuating and manifests itself in a wide frequency range. Noise from wind turbines as low as 32 dB(A) is a strong nervous system irritant for some people, while noise of 40 dB(A) and above causes severe discomfort for many people [1]. Detailed noise modeling was carried out in the considered area, assessing how noise affects individual dwellings, noise in the living environment of residential buildings were modeled. The noise level without background noise sources of the nearest residential environment was determined by modeling at 31.9 dB(A) during the night, while the limit value for the protection of human health according to HN 33:2011 is 45 dB(A).","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"261 2","pages":"692 - 699"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139018947","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The paper aims to derive a concise expression for two challenging design parameters when the subgrade layer is expansive in geotextile-reinforced unpaved road. The design parameters considered in the present study are the mobilized bearing capacity and swelling pressure for expansive soil. Herein the dimensional analysis via Buckingham’s π method is applied to derive the design parameters by forming the dimensionless group for prototype and model system. The model testing for the swelling pressure and mobilized bearing capacity are carried out in the laboratory by using consolidometer ring and CBR set up. The test results reveal the swelling pressure of 22.03kN/m2 for the soil sample having 76% as degree of saturation. A linear relation is observed between swelling pressure and degree of saturation and becomes equal upon surcharge. The mobilized bearing capacity for the expansive soil sample is 0.47kg/cm2. The failure pattern observed during testing is general shear failure in unsoaked condition and punching soil failure in soaked condition. The paper provides geometric ratio of 1:6 for model and prototype and also suggests modification in Giroud and Han generic equation by including the developed dimensionless group.","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"558 ","pages":"738 - 747"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139020119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study presents a Statistical analysis of the physicochemical parameters of sewage wastewater. Nearly twenty parameters of two different months were analysed using data from physico -chemical analyses. A Continuous Waste Water Quality Index (CWWQI) was established to gauge the overall state of treated wastewater quality. By taking into account previously set quality limitation norms, the index condenses a substantial number of measured quality characteristics into a single water quality term. To identify treatment process performance, the interdependencies between the variables were determined by using Principal Component Analysis (PCA). This study presents Factor analysis to identify the pollution and its type. The methods and approaches discussed in this study offer a framework for evaluating the monitoring programme for wastewater treatment.","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"1493 ","pages":"501 - 510"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139019218","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They briefly introduce the ideas of ideal cities of the geniuses of antiquity, Marco Vitruvius Pollio, Leonardo da Vinci, and Thomas More. The main focus is on the legislative issues of green infrastructure, particularly concerning the activities of local authorities. They perceive green infrastructure as an institute with a multi-beneficial meaning, within the framework of administrative science understood as a public interest incorporating a range of partial issues from the primary interest of environmental protection, economic development of settlements, promotion of public and mental health, social issues, and sports.","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"92 1","pages":"748 - 757"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139020735","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Strengthening of concrete structures using CFRP composites has become an essential technique last decades. Most of the studies were conducted on conventional concrete of Portland cement. In this research, an experimental and finite element analysis has been conducted to assess the bonding properties between geopolymer concrete substrate and CFRP composites using near-surface mounted strengthening system. The program consisted of concrete prisms bonded with NSM CFRP laminate and tested using single-lap shear test set-up with different bond lengths. Bond-slip behaviour has also been evaluated. The experimental results exhibited significant bonding properties, achieving an average bonding stress between 8.97 and 15.58 relative to the bonding length. The numerical analysis showed comparable results and a good correlation with that of experimental work.","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"572 ","pages":"676 - 691"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139022057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most urban roads in Iraq have been exposed to moisture damage failure because of the high silica content in aggregate, this phenomenon led to a decrease in the service life of roads and an increase in maintenance cost. This study used two anti-stripping agents: hydrated lime and Wetfix-BE. Lime was added as a powder to the aggregate in a dosage of 2.0 % of the aggregate weight and Wetfix-BE, a liquid chemical adhesion promoter for hot and warm mix asphalt, was added to asphalt at in dosage of 0.5 % from the total weight of asphalt. The retained Marshall stability, tensile strength ratio, Texas boiling test, and static immersion test are calculated to determine the resistance to moisture damage. The results indicated that both Wetfix-BE and lime could increase Marshall retained stability, tensile strength, and resistance to moisture damage of mixtures, especially at higher condition temperatures. The bitumen modified with Wetfix-BE had better results than bitumen modified with lime for all tests at different temperatures.","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"132 1","pages":"532 - 542"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138991796","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Real estate is one of an enterprise’s most valuable assets, and its appropriate management is a prerequisite for attaining a competitive edge. Modern real estate management should incorporate aspects that reflect market demands, environmental issues, the user wants, and the business environment sustainably. This study studies and analyses the elements influencing sustainable real estate management practises in India. This study acquired primary data from both residents/users of real estate and market actors. The research employs a combination of qualitative and quantitative methodologies, including case studies of the real estate management market and literature reviews on sustainable real estate management, as well as structured observation and surveys with closed-ended questions. The data indicate that the environmental element, which is the least developed among Indian real estate management firms, has the greatest influence on the overall sustainability of real estate management organisations. This should be the focus of the proposals, allowing real estate management businesses to highlight their environmental sustainability practises as the foundation for adopting of the idea of sustainable real estate management in India.","PeriodicalId":42034,"journal":{"name":"Civil and Environmental Engineering","volume":"303 3","pages":"511 - 519"},"PeriodicalIF":1.2,"publicationDate":"2023-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"138993807","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
