The purpose of this study was to compare the result of culture and real-time PCR on detecting Legionella and to evaluate the usefulness of real-time PCR alongside traditional culture for enumeration of Legionella from water samples. The real-time PCR assays conducted to quantify Legionella spp. (16S rRNA gene) and L. pneumophila (mip gene). Each real-time PCR assay had 100% specificity and excellent sensitivity (5 GU/reaction). Legionella was enumerated in 200 environmental water samples. In the culture, 36 samples were positive and 164 samples were negative. Based on the culture, real-time PCR was a high negative predictive value of 99%, 35 samples were true positive, 105 samples were true negative, 59 samples were false positive and 1 samples were false negative. Quantitative analysis of the two methods showed a weak linear correlation (r2=0.29, r2=0.61, respectively). Real-time PCR analysis showed weak linear correlation (r2=0.29, r2=0.61) with the culture-based results. Although it is difficult to directly apply quantitative analysis results of real-time PCR in the enumeration of environmental Legionella, it can be used as a complementary means of standard methods to rapidly screen negative samples and to more accurately diagnose.","PeriodicalId":419018,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 51st International Academic Conference, Vienna","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127934263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Moreover, due to smooth variation of material properties, they do not suffer from subsequent stress concentration arising in case of laminated composites. Thus FGMs find a wide-spread usage in modern branches of civil and mechanical industries. FGM components are also used in aerospace, nuclear, ship-building and optical industries. The structures made of axially functionally graded (AFG) material are advantageous where cantilever and rotating structures are involved such as turbomachine and turbine blades, helicopter rotor blades, spacecraft with flexible appendages etc. The current paper investigates large amplitude static deflection analysis on axially functionally graded (AFG) beam. Three boundary conditions i.e. Clamped-Clamped (CC), Simply Supported – Simply Supported (SS) and Clamped- Simply Supported (CS) have been considered for the present work. Linear gradation of material properties is considered in the axial direction. The formulation is based on Timoshenko beam theory which includes shear deformation and rotary inertia effects. Von Karman nonlinear strain displacement equations have been taken into account to incorporate the geometric non-linearity which arises because of the large deflection. Minimum Potential Energy Principle has been used to generate the governing set of equations and generated equations are solved through the implementation of an iterative scheme (direct substitution with relaxation method). The effects of gradation factors on the deflection of AFG uniform beam is studied. The results that have been generated are successfully validated with previously published paper.","PeriodicalId":419018,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 51st International Academic Conference, Vienna","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125272830","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We show how to include a scrap value in the OPTGAME3 algorithm for the numerical calculation of solutions for dynamic games. We consider two alternative ways of including a scrap value, either only for the state variables or for both the state and control variables. Using a numerical macroeconomic model of a monetary union, we show that the introduction of a scrap value is not appropriate as a substitute for an infinite horizon in dynamic economic policy game problems.","PeriodicalId":419018,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 51st International Academic Conference, Vienna","volume":"63 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124016193","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In other words, Rey concludes that exchange rate regimes do not play any role in deciding between capital mobility and independent monetary policy. Further, a lot of studies have come up which largely discuss about the monetary policy independence in countries that allow free mobility of capital flows, by making comparisons between countries with fixed exchange rate regime and floating exchange rate regime. However, the studies on monetary policy independence of countries with managed floating exchange rate regimes are very scant. Given this context, it becomes quite imperative to undertake a study on the monetary policy independence in India for the fact that India is a unique case in itself with not complete free mobility of capital and a managed float exchange rate regime. . Therefore, this paper employed the auto regressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach to study the monetary policy independence in India. The results of the study reveal that the Indian monetary policy stance is highly integrated with the US and the European Union monetary policy stance.","PeriodicalId":419018,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 51st International Academic Conference, Vienna","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129921290","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Puppetry exhibits potential as a pedagogical tool, but intermediate phase teachers are unfamiliar with its application in the classroom, since their training lacked focus on this pedagogy/component? This paper is based on a masters degree study, presenting the case of one teacher and his experiences with puppetry as pedagogy of play in the intermediate phase mathematics classroom. Third Generation Cultural Historical Theory was used as theoretical framework and a metacognitive methodology as research lens to determine his perception of puppetry and his experiences with puppets as part of his teaching-learning praxis. Data obtained from this participant was collected in the form of a pre-workshop interview and reflections during half-day workshops on two consecutive Saturdays and reflections on his and his learners? experiences with the puppets. These workshops were aimed at introducing and empowering Intermediate Phase Mathematics teachers to the potential of puppets as a pedagogical tool, of which this participant already had previous experiences with. Puppetry was experienced by the teacher as useful, creative, fun, effective, different and cost effective in a means that learners can explore their own flaws and potentials.","PeriodicalId":419018,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 51st International Academic Conference, Vienna","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131845943","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the holistic approach, an examinee’s speech is given a single rating to reflect its overall quality. Analytic scoring, on the other hand, involves different aspects of performance, with each receiving its own rating. The present study investigated the relationship of analytic scoring criteria to the holistic assessment of speaking performance. It aimed to discover whether raters, in assigning a single global rating, had a tendency to focus significantly more on certain aspects of speaking than others. Ten experienced raters judged speech performance of thirty-five non-native English speakers. Two types of scores were obtained – a single score for holistic rating and a set of scores corresponding to five analytic criteria, i.e. coherence, fluency, grammatical accuracy, lexical resource, and pronunciation. Multiple regression analysis revealed that fluency had the strongest impact on the holistic score, followed by pronunciation, coherence, and lexical resource, while grammatical accuracy did not contribute significantly to the rating. Despite the slight differences in the weight contribution of each criterion to the overall score, the findings suggest that raters seemed to favor the ability to communicate at the right speed without too many pronunciation difficulties, while focusing less on lexical and grammatical accuracy.","PeriodicalId":419018,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 51st International Academic Conference, Vienna","volume":"57 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133903054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Shopee is the largest retail e-commerce in Southeast Asia. The study is based Electronic Service Quality Model (E-S-QUAL) and electronic recovery service quality (E-Recs-QUAL). 100 online questionnaires have been distributed to Shoppe customers who had an experience in using Shopee application. The study result reveals that most respondents are single and female with an average age of 21. The level of satisfaction is high for all dimensions. To be more specific, the highest level of satisfaction is witnessed in system availability while privacy, efficiency, responsiveness, fulfillment and contact share similar satisfactory level of high. The lowest is compensation. The study also reveals that there are differences in placing important to those dimensions, which can be divided into 3 categories. High degree of importance efficiency and fulfillment while moderate degree of significance consists of privacy system availability responsiveness. The least importance factors are contact and compensation. The study suggests that the quality of fulfillment should be improved because of there being high level of importance from customer perspective with moderate satisfactory level.","PeriodicalId":419018,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 51st International Academic Conference, Vienna","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121230782","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
