Keeping these points in view, his experiment was carried out to study the comparative performance and association of yield attributing characters with grain yield including path analysis in seventy three diverse rice genotypes at two research farms with different sodicity levels. The correlation coefficient analysis revealed the positively and significantly associated with productive tillers plant-1, fertile spikelet panicle-1, spikelet fertility %, biological yield plant-1 and 1000 grain weight while Path analysis showed biological yield plant-1, harvest index, chlorophyll content and 1000- grains weight had positive and high direct effect on grain yield respectively at both sodicity levels. Hence direct selection of any traits namely biological yield plant-1, harvest index, chlorophyll content and 1000 grain weight can be effective for future breeding programs to improve yield trait. Improvement in these traits will result in simultaneous improvement of yield.","PeriodicalId":418512,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Agriculture Research and Technology","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131556083","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Inappropriate nutrient management and indiscriminate use of chemical pesticides are both detrimental to the health of plants and the environment, as well as to the human beings who consume them. Because of the indiscriminate use of inorganic agrochemicals, the qualitative characteristics of a variety of fruits have been adversely affected. This has led to a decline in quality, which has decreased customer choice and resulted in lower returns for the producers. Not only can an excessive supply of inorganic nutrient sources, such as fertilizers, have a negative impact on the quality of the fruit and its overall productivity, but it also depletes the nutrient reserves that are present in the soil. However, INM is a method that contributes to the preservation of the soil's health. Integrated nutrient management, also known as INM, refers to the practice of applying all possible sources of nutrients, both organic and inorganic, to crop production at the same time. As a result, the INM assists the plants in satisfying their nutritional requirements while also restoring the fertility","PeriodicalId":418512,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Agriculture Research and Technology","volume":"89 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115664842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The 15 CMS lines and 5 restorer lines were crossed in line x tester model to produce 76 hybrids. The crosses were made at research area of Oilseed Section, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, CCS HAU, Hisar during the spring season of 2014. Hybrids and parents were evaluated under four different environments i.e. Summer 2014, last week of August (E1) and First week of Sept. (E2) and during spring 2015, i.e. first week of February (E3) and last week of February (E4). Data on five randomly selected plants from each genotype in each replication were recorded on different quantitative characters viz. plant height (cm), head diameter (cm), stem diameter (cm) days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, hundred seed weight (g), seed yield per plant (g), oil content (%), hull content (%), percent seed filling, germination (%), electrical conductivity (µScm1 g-1), viability (%), vigour index I, vigour index II, palmitic acid (%), stearic acid (%), oleic acid (%) and linoleic acid (%) in all the test environments. Hybrids CMS 207 A x HRHA 5-3, CMS 852 A x RHA 271, CMS 207 A x RHA 297, CMS 234 A x 6D-1 and CMS 207 A x 6D-1 were found better and superior for heterosis , seed yield and its contributing trait and also for oil content. The hybrids with good heterotic value could be directly used for heterosis breeding because of their dominant nature. The use of genotypes in hybridization from these results is likely to produce more heterotic combination in future.","PeriodicalId":418512,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Agriculture Research and Technology","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133781513","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Among different N levels, significantly highest green fodder yield (GFY) was recorded at N3 (80 kg N ha-1 at sowing + 20 kg N ha-1 at three weeks after sowing + 40 kg ha-1 N after each cut). The total green fodder and dry matter yield recorded with 220 kg N ha-1 were 28.10, 10.40 and 35.51, 8.80 per cent higher over 120 and 170 kg N ha-1 respectively. Highest in-vitro dry matter digestibility (IVDMD) content (62.34%) was estimated with 220 kg N ha-1 which was on a par with 170 kg N ha-1. However, maximum digestible dry matter yield (35.91 q ha-1) was estimated with 220 kg N ha-1 which was significantly higher over the lower nitrogen levels. Among different phosphorus levels, highest GFY was recorded at P3 (50 kg P2O5 ha-1) which was on a par with P2 (40 kg P2O5 ha-1). The green fodder and dry matter yield recorded with 50 kg P2O5 ha-1 were 3.78, 22.79 and 4.72, 35.51 per cent higher over 40 and 30 kg P2O5 ha-1 respectively. Crude protein content and IVDMD content were not affected significantly. However, maximum crude protein yield (5.63 q ha-1) digestible dry matter yield (34.90 q ha-1) were estimated with 50 kg P2O5 ha-1 which were on a par with 40 kg P2O5 ha-1. To realize the higher forage yield and better nutritive value of ryegrass, application 220 kg N (80 kg N ha-1 as basal + 20 kg N ha-1 as topdressing at 3 WAS + 40 kg ha-1 N just after each cut) and 40 kg P2O5 ha-1 is recommended for soils low in available nitrogen and medium in phosphorus.","PeriodicalId":418512,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Agriculture Research and Technology","volume":"104 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132857383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Time series data on wheat yield for 35 years (1985-86 to 2019-20) have been divided into three groups, viz. congenial, normal, and adverse based on de-trended yield distribution. Considering these groups as three populations, discriminant function analysis using weekly data of crop season on five meteorological parameters has been carried out. The discriminant scores obtained from this have been used as regressor variables along with time trend in development of statistical models. In all six procedures using weekly weather data have been proposed. The models developed have been used to forecast the wheat yield for the year 2017-18 and 2019-20 which were not included in the development of the models. It has been found that most of the models provide reliable forecast of the wheat yield about two months before the harvest. However, the model-5 has been found to be the most suitable among all the models developed.","PeriodicalId":418512,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Agriculture Research and Technology","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120927041","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
