In the four presented sites, literary sources reference the existence of medieval sacral buildings. However, no one has explored the previous form of their architecture more closely so far. Using non-destructive architectural exploration followed by geophysical research, it was possible to identify their lost medieval one-nave structures and several architectural details. The preliminary interpretation of the discovered ground plan structures in the context of historical written references point to the construction of the sacral buildings in question probably in the period between the 11 th century and the period before 1419. These sacral structures were substantially rebuilt or even completely renovated between the 18 th and the 19 th centuries.","PeriodicalId":41838,"journal":{"name":"Studijne Zvesti Archeologickeho Ustavu Slovenskej Akademie Vied","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70015922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Settlement strategy was evaluated based on analysis of environmental parameters in QGIS program on which were performed the statistical evaluation and spatio-temporal modeling. This paper aims to define the settlement structure in the determined area and compare it with other already statisticaly evaluated units of the Baden and Postbaden cultural complex in the central European region. The settlement structure changed over time but only in spatial area, environmental parameters remained unchanged, with only one exception which was the distance from the source of raw material for chipped stone production. The group was compared with the other territories with Baden and Postbaden cultural complex settlements like Český Brod plateau, Lesser Poland and Cerová vrchovina. The only group with which the sites from the area of interest showed similarity was a set of sites from the area of the Český Brod plateau.","PeriodicalId":41838,"journal":{"name":"Studijne Zvesti Archeologickeho Ustavu Slovenskej Akademie Vied","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48298910","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Archaeology is a discipline that interprets the past; therefore, it is not common practice to use archaeology and archaeological meth ods in police or forensic investigation. In Slovakia, archaeologists are called to attend the body scene of skeletonized remains in some regions only rarely and that can often lead to the destruction of historical heritage or desecration of human remains. Such handling of human remains is visible on the case report discussed in the article, where unknown culprits disposed human remains from their original unknown place. Forensic archaeology is commonly used in such cases in the United Kingdom, where it is also commonly taught as a separate discipline in universities. The establish ment of the field of forensic medicine or training proper authorities dealing with these cases is indeed needed in Slova kia to prevent further destruction of historically important remains and sites.","PeriodicalId":41838,"journal":{"name":"Studijne Zvesti Archeologickeho Ustavu Slovenskej Akademie Vied","volume":"8 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.2,"publicationDate":"2022-06-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70016087","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
