Despite this, the VMI system is currently limited to the retail industry and does not have access to the VMI system in other industries. In order to make up for this gap, this paper analyzes the feasibility of the VMI system in other industries and companies, and further determines the VMI system as a boost for other industries through three conditions. This article provides sufficient evidence for the research method through case analysis to further determine the feasibility and correctness of the research method. As the results of the study show, companies that meet these three conditions can significantly improve the company's logistics efficiency and reduce the company's storage costs when using the VMI system. Whether the it can become a world-class bay area and a world-class city cluster depends on the collaborative innovation ability of the region. Innovation is the fundamental driving force for the sustainable development of regional economy. The formation of innovation system is also a shortcut to improve the ability of independent innovation. This paper takes the innovation system of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao greater bay area as the research object, constructs the evaluation index system of the synergy effect of the innovation system of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao greater bay area, and measures and evaluates the synergy degree of each regional subsystem in the greater bay area, among which, Hong Kong is the highest and Jiangmen is the lowest. Therefore, this paper focuses on the analysis of the coordination obstacles and level differences in Jiangmen, and puts forward countermeasures and suggestions to promote the innovative development of Jiangmen based on the existing problems and their causes, in an attempt to provide some experience for the innovative development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao greater bay area. While the agreement of such a target is a laudable achievement, one has to be wondering how we will achieve this. What does sustainability actually mean and how do we measure it? And when will we know this goal has been achieved? Put more succinctly: what needs to happen in the economy to help us stay within the target? The promise of clever engineering to solve the problem was made many years ago but it hasn’t materialized. A key ingredient to the industrial success of our economy is the freedom that entrepreneurs and business owners have to create products that serve the wishes of society. No one wants this freedom of expression and access to such products to be curbed, but a brake of some sort may need to be applied. This paper investigates the fundamental “missing link” that would enable people to understand the environmental impact of their economic/consumption activities. It posits that what is missing is an environmental accounting system that enables all economic actors to easily and therefore actively engage in a cogent sustainability solution. Such a solution would link economic activity to planetary boundaries. Before any such global aspiration can be contemplated however, we would need a universally agreed metric, or system of metrics, in order to communicate effectively. A universally applicable ecological certificate is proposed. It is based on the existing scientific method of life cycle analysis; extending an existing sub metric with a vital missing component that could then behave like a global ecological “currency” Keywords—resources economy; ecological economy; environment economy; accounting; planetary boundaries; ecocost; myecocost; automated material flow exchanges; ecoaccounting; sustainability; circular economy.","PeriodicalId":417272,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Economic and Business Management (FEBM 2019)","volume":"140 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132697119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Strategic Thinking of Anadarko Acquisition by Chevron 雪佛龙收购阿纳达科的战略思考

{"title":"Strategic Thinking of Anadarko Acquisition by Chevron","authors":"Qian Zou, Keming Wang, Min Peng","doi":"10.2991/febm-19.2019.51","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.2991/febm-19.2019.51","url":null,"abstract":"Chevron announced its acquisition of Anadarko Petroleum Corporation at $50 billion on April 12, 2019. These two corporations have quite similar asset type and asset location; thus, the cost of integration was low. The value of assets would be greatly promoted for both corporations after integration, and Anadarko could improve its finances with the aid of Chevron's unstinted cash flow to defend itself against the slump in oil price. Chevron's payment would mostly be given in shares and debt. It leveraged a lot of assets by using a small amount of cash and thus was under small financial pressure. The acquisition was a winwin deal and could achieve a 1+1>2 result by maximizing the potential of both corporations. There is something to be learned from this transaction. Keywords—strategic thinking; potential value; asset integration; low oil price I. TRANSACTION PROFILE Chevron announced on April 12, 2019 that it would acquire Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, one of the largest independent oil companies around the world, at $33 billion, which would be paid in Chevron's 75% stock and 25% cash. According to Chevron's closing price on April 11, 2019, Anadarko shareholders would receive 0.3869 shares of Chevron and $16.25 in cash for each share they own, or $65 per share. Chevron would also assume $15 billion of Anadarko's debt. The total value of the transaction is $50 billion [1]. The acquisition is the largest integration of unconventional oil and gas resources in the United States in recent years, and the strategic significance is worth pondering. Starting from the whole oil and gas industry chain, this paper will analyze and summarize the company's macro-long-term strategy from the perspective of economics, finance and strategy, so as to provide decision-making basis for other company operators. II. ASSETS OF THE TRANSACTION This transaction had been planning for a long period of time. Chevron is focusing its business on unconventional and deepwater oil and gas, which are the business strength of Anadarko. Their assets are overlapping and complementary, thus these two corporations could learn each other's good points for common progress in economic benefit and cost reduction. It is anticipated that pretax cost and capital expenditure reduction will reach $1 billion [1]. The assets acquired are detailed as follows. A. Unconventional Oil and Gas in the Permian Basin. Chevron possesses huge assets in the Permian Basin. The total area of licenses is 116,104 acres, and total reserves are 16.2 billion barrels. Chevron is the biggest owner of the Permian Basin [2]. But unconventional oil and gas in the Permian Basin are not Chevron's business strength. All its assets lie in basin margin with poor geologic conditions, low per-well production, and high gas content. Oil yield only accounts for 60% of total production. The economic benefit is low in view of low gas price in the US. The quality of resources and profit rate of Chevron in three major plays (Bone Spr","PeriodicalId":417272,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the Fourth International Conference on Economic and Business Management (FEBM 2019)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114550507","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, the processes of technology development and transfer into the economy are affected by numerous barriers. The main objective of this paper is to identify and analyse barriers related to the realisation of strategic programmes by R&D organisations. Furthermore, it is aimed at comparative analyses of barriers encountered in the process of executing strategic research in technologically advanced countries and in Poland – one of the transition economies. As a result, the authors discuss: (1) the levels at which the barriers are present (strategic, tactical), (2) their character (technical, organisational-economic, and system barriers to technology transfer), and (3) types of organisational capabilities (physical and material, financial, human resource, information and management) to which the barriers identified relate. Utilizing a country-level panel trade data spanning the period 2003 to 2016, we found that both FDI inflows and outflows have been trade-enhancing. Results also indicate that China’s accession to WTO would change FDI-trade relationships. The research shows that: (1) the innovation efficiency of most provinces in China is overestimated by environmental factors and random factors; (2) Except for Beijing and Zhejiang, most of the provinces have large room for improvement in regional innovation capability, and regional differences are significant; (3) Gini coefficient, coefficient of variation, and Theil index verify that there is a significant overall difference in regional innovation efficiency in China, but the difference is fluctuating.
