Objective : To determine if toluidine blue detects in a better way the lesions present in the vulvar region of women who suffered sexual violence in comparison with direct simple observation. Methods : The study is an observational, transversal and analytical investigation. the characteristics of the study, this was done to 48 patients, who accepted the informed consent, in which the application of toluidine blue was performed. Results : The application of toluidine blue in comparison with direct simple observation has a sensitivity of 75%, specificity of 47.9%, positive predictive value: 59% and a negative predictive value of 65.7%.
