This study was carried out to investigate the efficacy of atmospheric pressure cold plasma on different bacterial isolates. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on standard bacterial strains; Escherichia coli (O157:H7), Bacillus subtilis (ATCC 6633), Enterobacter aerogenes (ATCC 13048), Rhodococcus equi (ATCC 6939), Salmonella typhimurium (ATCC 14028), Enterococcus feacalis (ATCC 2912) and field isolates; 12 Escherichia coli isolates, 22 Staphylococcus spp, 18 Klebsiella spp., 2 Enterococcus spp., 3 Acinetobacter spp., 8 Candida spp., 1 Morgarella mongarii, 2 Corynebacterium spp., 1 Streptococcus pyogenes. Atmospheric pressure cold plasma jet and plasma activated medium (PAM) were applied to the isolates and their efficacy was investigated. Karadayi, Eftal Sert","doi":"10.58651/jomtu.1362789","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.58651/jomtu.1362789","url":null,"abstract":"ABSTRACT Background: Esophageal foreign bodies (EFB), which can be seen in adults as well as being more common in the pediatric population, are important because of their serious and life-threatening complications when diagnosed late. For this reason, we aimed to review EFBs. Materials and Methods: Hospital records of 232 patients who underwent emergency rigid esophagoscopy with the prediagnosis of EFB in our clinic between January 2007 and April 2023 were reviewed retrospectively. Esophagoscopy was performed with rigid esophagoscopy under general anesthesia. Results: Of these patients, 134 (57.8%) were male. The median age was 5.50 years ± 2.12 years in the pediatric population and 50.26 years ± 16.33 years in the adult population. The mean time from insertion of the foreign body into the esophagus to removal with a rigid esophagoscope was 13.1 hours. The foreign body was localized in the cervical esophagus with a rate of 67.5%. In the pediatric group, the most encountered foreign body was a metal coin, while in the adult group, it was a bone fragment. Rigid esophagoscopy (n = 160) or direct laryngoscopy (n =72) was used for removal of the EFB. Esophageal perforation was seen in a total of 7 (3.0%) patients. Mortality was observed in 3 (1.3%) of our patients. Mortality was observed in 3 (1.3%) of our patients. Two of these were due to mediastinitis and one was due to additional diseases. Conclusions: Early diagnosis and treatment of EFBs is important because of the seriousness of their complications. Foreign body removal by rigid esophagoscopy is a reliable treatment method that should be performed as soon as possible. But 80% of cases are sporadic. Its incidence is between 1/25000 and 1.5/10000. Significant shortening of the femur and humerus occurs in patients with achondroplasia. This shortness causes the appearance of rhizomelic type of dwarfism. Since the skull of patients with achondroplasia is large during delivery, it may cause difficult delivery. During infancy, hypotonia is more dominant. Many patients also have delayed motor development. Our aim in the study is to present the successful physical therapy and rehabilitation process of our patient diagnosed with achondroplasia for one year and her condition from diagnosis to treatment. Our patient is 3500kg who was born by cesarean section on 12.02.2020. weight was a baby girl. The mother's height was 162 cm. and the father's height was 174 cm. The mother was 23 years old and the father 27 years old. The same diagnosis was not present in any living relative of the patient. The patient was 1 year old when she applied to our center. She had completed head control and had not yet acquired the skills of rolling over, crawling, and sitting without support. Gross motor skills such as assisted standing and stepping were not developed. A total of 90 patients were included in the study, and they received one of three fixation methods: cannulated screw, tension band, or mini-fragment T-plate. The evaluation of ankle and foot functions was conducted using the American Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Surgery score, number of fluoroscopy shots, duration of surgery, and ankle joint range of motion measurements. \u0000Results: After a 12-month follow-up, there was no significant difference between the groups (p=0,263, p=0,432 and P=0,376) in terms of the AOFAS score. The ankle joint range of motion was similar in all groups. According to the radiographs, the compression ability was weaker in the mini-plate group than in the other groups. Alınan selefon bant örnekleri ise ışık mikroskobunda Enterobius vermicularis (E. vermicularis) ve Taenia spp. açısından değerlendirildi. \u0000Bulgular: 2019 yılında gelen toplam 20973 numunenin 1260’ında (%6) ve 2021 yılında gelen toplam 4751 numunenin 426’sında (%8.9) parazit tespit edildi. 2021 yılında parazit pozitifliği 2019 yılına göre anlamlı yüksek bulundu. Giardia intestinalis (G. intestinalis) Ascaris lumbricoides (A. lumbricoides) ve E. vermicularis oranları 2019 yılında 2021 yılına göre anlamlı yüksek idi. Entemoeba histolytica/dispar (E. histolytica/dispar) ve Entemoeba coli (E. coli) pozitifliği 2021 yılında 2019 yılına göre anlamlı yüksek bulundu. 0-5 ve 6-12 yaş gruplarında pozitiflik oranları 2021 yılında 2019 yılına göre anlamlı yüksek idi. Çocuk hastalıkları ve immünoloji-alerji bölümünden gelen örnek sayıları 2021’de 2019 yılına göre anlamlı yüksek bulundu. And the only method to reduce morbidity and mortality resulted from handling cadavers is by following protective measures according to the guidelines.
