HasriaRiski, Fathu Rahman, Andjarwati Sadik","doi":"10.34050/JIB.V6I2.4289","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.34050/JIB.V6I2.4289","url":null,"abstract":"This research aimed (1) to explore whether or not the use of Silent Way Method can improve the students’ speaking ability, (2) to disclose how effective is Silent Way Method in improving students’ speaking ability.The research applied the experimental design and the samples comprised 30 tenth grade students of SMU Negeri 12 Makassar divided into two groups namely experimental class consisted 15 students class X IPA 3 and control class consisted 15 students class X IPS 3. The data were collected by using two types of instruments: the speaking test and the questionnaires. The data on the students’ speaking ability were analyzed using the descriptive statistics, and the data on the students’ questionnaire toward the use of Silent Way Method were analyzed using Likert Scale.The research results revealed that (1) the use of Silent Way Method in teaching speaking had improved the students’ speaking ability; and that (2) the students’ responses toward the use of Silent Way Method were positive. In fact, the students stated that they found the teaching of speaking more interesting when the Silent Way Method was used to teach them speaking. This research data in the form of bouquets description seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 18 Lau. Data collection methods are methods refer to Technical note. Data were analyzed with descriptive methods.The results showed that the analysis of the ability to write essay description of the class VII SMP Negeri 18 Lau through the use of media image series shows (1) the ability to organize ideas in an integrated manner, (2) choice of words / diction precise, (3) the use of vocabulary in varied, (4) the creation of cohesion and coherence and (5) writing techniques in accordance with Indonesian enhanced spelling (EYD). The constraints in the use of media such images in learning, from the point of view of teachers that (a) some teachers still use traditional learning methods, (b) the limited ability of teachers to provide media images in accordance with the concept of learning and (c) the teacher has not been able to use media image series of continuous learning. A novel in French, Moha le Fou Moha le Sage (MFMS) by Tahar ben Jelloun, illustrates the delivery of certain ideas and criticisms with the social background of the newly independent Maghreb state from French colonization. This research was made to describe the conditions that were criticized and the way the narrator expressed his criticism. The sociology of literature approach is used, to study the object of the novel MFMS research. Data was collected by reading and recording techniques, and analyzed using descriptive analytic techniques. The results show that the criticized conditions in this novel relate to a very sharp dichotomy in social configuration, between strong and weak, male and female, employer and slave, white and black, educated and not. The narrator, Moha, speaks as himself to convey the plight of the weak that are unable or prevented from speaking up. He gives advice, reprimands, reminds, threatens, and persuades him to be heard. On that basis, in 2018 the Indonesian government has emphasized the importance of empowering existing natural potential and becoming a regional characteristic as a potential tourism activity. One of the programs launched by the area in Toraja is the improvement and management of agrotourism (agrotourism) with the image of the Toraja region, as the Coffee Regency. Based on the results of the research, one solution was found, namely the need for a variant of a tourist attraction that supports the main tourist attractions of Toraja, Tradition Culture (graves) and Tongkonan traditional houses. The potential variation of objects to be developed in Toraja is agrotourism which so far has not been fully developed. In developing agrotourism in Toraja, it is important to improve services from aspects of specific field languages (agrotourism), one of which is French. For this reason, the solution that can be given to tourism stakeholders is to provide language skills training through understanding and using French variants in agro-tourism. Nurhayati, Munirah Hasjim","doi":"10.34050/JIB.V6I2.4798","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.34050/JIB.V6I2.4798","url":null,"abstract":"This research aimed (1) to explain the learning process in writing short stories using the Learning-Based Project Methode by Class VIII at Lau State Junior High School, Maros Regency; (2) to explain the learning tesult of the short stories after the implementation of the model of the Learning-Based Project Methode by Class VIII at Lau State Junior High School, Maros Regency.The research type used was the Classroom Action Research, know as Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) or the Classroom Action Research. This Classroom Action Research implemented several cyrcle in its implementation.The research results indicated that there had been inceases of the process and the learning achievement of the students. Meanwhile, the learning result of the control class showed a difference. Cycle I reached the mean result of 70,86 and the cycle II reached the mean value of 72,11. However, such difference did not show any increase in the learning result. Both cycle could be categorized as adequate. The learning achievement of the experiment class showed a difference which was significant enough. Cycle I reached the mean value of 79,76 and could be categorized as adequate, while cycle II reached the mean value of 84,79 which was categorized as good. The problems raised in this study are about the problem of economy, socio-culture, and religion related to matrilineal concept. The result of study proves that the “surface structure” that belongs to this story contained “deep structure” that reflects the cultural identity of the matrilineal society of Minangkabau. This study uses a qualitative approach. Data obtained through library research with the presentation of descriptive data analysis. After investigation, It can be concluded that the matrilineal kinship system in Minangkabau society affects the way the society in addressing the problems that arise, as seen in the myth of “Malin Kundang”. The myth illustrates matters as follows. 1. The economic issues that arise is solved by wandering famous tradition in Minang community. 2. After marriage, a man will stay in the family of woman (matrilocal). If the opposite happens, it becomes a disgrace to the family. 3.
