Selon le temps auquel il est conjugue, un verbe peut n’avoir aucun autre ton que ceux lexicaux, ou ajouter B, H, HB ou BH au theme. Ces tons melodiques sont lies a la voyelle finale, et le H initial de la melodie se propage a gauche vers le ton lexical de la racine. Bien que le lulamogi ait perdu tout contraste lexical dans les verbes, comme la plupart des langues bantu, il possede un riche ensemble de melodies verbales assignees sur base du temps, de l’aspect, du mode, de la polarite et du type de proposition (p. ex. principale/ relative). Si l’interet se porte essentiellement sur les melodies tonales du theme, des complications proviennent des prefixes qui precedent et qui peuvent deplacer leur ton H vers la syllabe initiale du theme. Les schemes tonals verbaux que presente le jita sont pratiquement identiques a ceux du ruri proche. Cependant, comme le soutient Goldsmith (1987), les modeles tonals melodiques jita/ ruri se distinguent de ceux des autres langues bantu lacustres de plusieurs facons, ce qui les rend particulierement interessants pour les bantuistes comparatistes qui etudient les tons verbaux des langues de cette region.","PeriodicalId":41483,"journal":{"name":"Africana Linguistica","volume":"23 1","pages":"101-119"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2014-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81180142","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Ce vocabulaire myconymique specifique en koya (langue bantoue) et baka (langue oubanguienne) designant les memes especes de champignons est analyse sur les plans formel et semantique. Cette analyse linguistique devoile les strategies lexicales dont les deux populations forestieres se sont servies pour denommer les champignons qu’ils consomment ainsi que les motivations semantiques et les mecanismes cognitifs quiles sous‑tendent. Il est aussi demontre que le koya et le baka ne partagent aucun myconyme, ce qui aurait pu etre l’indice de la subsistance d’une langue pygmee d’origine, perdue au profit des langues bantoues et oubanguiennes empruntees.","PeriodicalId":41483,"journal":{"name":"Africana Linguistica","volume":"70 1","pages":"109-135"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89169217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This term is not only a widespread blacksmith term in the Lower Congo region, but also a traditional royal Kongo title attesting to the importance of the blacksmith metaphor in Kongo political ideology. Popular etymology has it that ngangula is related to nganga, reconstructed in Proto-Bantu as *-ganga and commonly translated as 'mcdicinc-man'. It is argued here that this widely held belief does not stand up to scrutiny. The term ngangula is shown to be derived from the common Bantu verb *pangod- meaning 4to cut; to separate'. Thanks to a distinctive diachronic sound change, it is even possible to locate quite precisely the term's origin within the Kikongo dialcct continuum. Its provenance gives new credibility to an earlier but discarded hypothesis situating the origins of the Kongo kingdom in the eastern part of the Lower Congo, somewhere in-between the Inkisi and Kwango Rivers.","PeriodicalId":41483,"journal":{"name":"Africana Linguistica","volume":"33 1","pages":"53-83"},"PeriodicalIF":0.3,"publicationDate":"2013-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87972369","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":3,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
