Different concentrations of particles (f) and different particles mobilities (Mp)were used. It was found that the grain size reaches a critical radius (Rc) which depends exclusively onf. This dependence can be written as:Rc~f^1/3. The dynamic equation of grain size evolution and its analytical solution were alsofound. The analytical solution successfully fits the simulation results. This allowed tracking the progress of the Grain Boundary (BG) and its interaction with the bubbles. The evolution of the grain triple junction was recorded from successive photographs obtained witha LEICA® optical microscope. Results of laboratory measurements are analyzed in which the diameter of droplets, produced by means of an ultrasonic nebulizer, are determined, subject to different movement conditions within a \"cloudbox\". The turbulence energy dissipation rate is particularly considered. Laguna","doi":"10.31527/analesafa.2019.30.3.58","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.31527/analesafa.2019.30.3.58","url":null,"abstract":"Urged by the need of detailed information concerning the current situation of women in Physics in Argentina, we performed a statistical study focused on the Physics discipline within the hierarchical structure of researchers with permanent positions at CONICET. We analyzed gender composition data of the different career stages and studied its evolution in the past 20 years. The obtained results reveal the well-known glass ceiling and its dynamics, unveiling its relationship with differences arisen during the promotion process in the researchers' career. The analysis of evolution of the percentage of women in Physics shows that its projection would not surpass 30%. This result indicates that gender balance will not be reached unless novel mechanisms are proposed, actively promoting the incorporation of women as researchers. Repetto","doi":"10.31527/analesafa.2019.30.2.42","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.31527/analesafa.2019.30.2.42","url":null,"abstract":"In this work we describe how we designed and built an acoustic system that allowed us to adapt a Kundt’s tube for the measurement of the speed of sound at different temperatures. The air column inside the tube was excited by a speaker at a frequency of 2 kHz. We changed the air column length by moving a piston throughout the tube, and we measured and recorded that length when we observed a resonance signal on the oscilloscope screen. This procedure was repeated at different temperatures, ranging from 19○C to 115○C. Then it was calculated the propagation of the speed of sound based on the temperature. The results were compared with those predicted by the classical model, which assumes that air is an ideal diatomic gas, and that the acoustic phenomenon is an adiabatic process. To perform the measurements, the sample of ice submerged in ultrapure silicone oil was maintained at -5 ºC to prevent evaporation from occurring and isolate the effect of surface diffusion in this way. Photographs of the groove were periodically taken, approximately for 100 hours, using a camera coupled to an optical microscope. From these images the evolution of the line width was studied. Jaén","doi":"10.31527/analesafa.2019.30.1.15","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.31527/analesafa.2019.30.1.15","url":null,"abstract":"This paper describes an alternative method to assess atmospheric pollution levels caused by the burning of sugar cane fields during the harvest, affecting visibility in nearby residential areas. The samples of atmospheric dispersed material were taken on glass slides exposed to the environment on different periods of time. The scattered light by these samples is measured using a digital goniometric device that moves a CCD around each sample with 2,0 arc min resolution. Scattering measurements reveals that it is possible to differentiate between the samples of 12, 24, 36 and 48 hours of integration. This method is more sensitive because it integrates through time, even when the concentrations of contaminants are low. Based on Beer-Lambert scattering model, the scattered light on the samples is related to the atmospheric extinction coefficient and the meteorological visibility measured in the same days. A good linear correlation for the different time periods (R2 > 0.94)was obtained.
