There are many useful applications of 3D city model in urban planning analysis, disaster management, tourism, telecommunication and other fields now. However, the applications of 3D city model in urban planning in China are not extended and the in-depth utility is not yet developed widely. This paper introduces the important applications of 3D city model and analyzes the contents of it. And then the author points out the advantages and disadvantages of 3DCM. Furthermore, the author analyzes a successful example of using 3D city model in the project of HafenCity, Hamburg in Germany as a case study. In this paper, the minimization of the ordinary kriging variance criterion is introduced, which means that the ordinary kriging variance of estimation errors of a certain point calculated with the sampling points is proposed as an evaluation index to express the uncertainty of that point. The simulated annealing algorithm has proved most effective for such optimization problem to minimize the kriging variance per-grid, and the best designing scheme can be yielded. The digital elevation model (DEM) was created based on 1:10000 topographic maps and 1:5000 thematic maps, and several pre-processing methods, including depression filling, urban terrain and river network correction, were applied. After that, the “source flood” algorithm based on visiting every node of the stack, was adopted to simulate the scope and depth of the inundation with DEM and real-time stage data from the telemetry stations. Finally, flood risk was evaluated by taking the factors of flood submergence depth and hazard-affected body. This paper takes Wuyi County as study area. During the planning stage, high resolution remote sensing and GIS techniques are utilized for the retrieval and analysis of ecosystem and environment information, which is divided into 4 steps. In the first step, vegetation information is retrieved from Landsat TM/ETM+ and ASTER images; meanwhile, the land surface temperature is calculated using the imagery. In the second step, all these information are imported to GIS. In the third step, each type of information is considered as one of the factors affecting the ecosystem and environment, and statistics and spatial overlay are applied using GIS techniques to evaluate the current status of the study area. In the study period, the spatial distribution pattern of soil pH had less change (mainly acidic), except that in Pearl River Delta and parts of Qingyuan and Shaoguan (weak alkaline). The overall variation of soil pH was represented as acidification, with the average pH value changed from 5.70 to 5.44. Among the soil types, alluvial soil had an increased pH, lateritic red soil, paddy soil, and red soil had a large decrease of pH, lime soil was most obvious in the decrease of pH and its area percentage. Detailed analysis of the traffic flow can be used to derive the volume changes in the city road network. The application of classical graph theory algorithm and transport engineering method makes it feasible to quantify and compute the relationship between traffic flow volume and network travelling time. By adjusting the parameters of network, the traffic congestion can be handled out in design and controls levels. This paper presents an object-oriented road damage detection method. First and foremost, Multi-scale segmentation technology is adopted to get image objects, and then the paper utilizes some typical feature parameters and combines with pre-disaster's GIS vector road to extract road information. Then the techniques of overlay analysis and violating objects removal are employed to extract the damaged road section. Remote sensing images for Wenchuan, China disaster area and Yushu, China disaster area are implemented as examples. The fused image was generated from an ALOS multi-spectral image scene and a Quickbird panchromatic image scene. Four quantitative indices (i.e. mean, standard deviation, entropy, and correlation coefficient) were used to compare and evaluate the results of the fusion methods. Variation of fusion effects was observed among different methods. In addition, fused images were used to identify mangrove biomass levels via spectral mixture analysis. The method is divided into 2 step. Firstly, Two-way integration method including both methods drived by task and methods drived by data for coarse segmentation, which improves the accuracy of detection. And then edge extraction and morphological operations are used to obtain enclosed area. The shape of the enclosed area is determined by the circularity and central double cross shape measurement in order to detect the prohibition signs. Some Urban Parking Guidance Systems (UPGS) have been established that contain roadside changeable message boards. However, those general UPGS can't provide personalized services, can't combine with the electronic map, can't show enough information. Additionally, the cost of those UPGS is very high. After analyzing the functions of UPGS and parking optimal models, we established a real-time changeable, integrate and individual UPGS, which combined with components Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, and contained the functions of information customization and message feedback. The UPGS is an effective way to solve the problem of finding parking place more quickly, to ease the crowded traffic. The UPGS has changed the traditional type of cluster information guidance method based on the roadside changeable message boards. The personalized service from the UPGS is highlighted, the parking optional algorithm is designed, and the UPGS is established ultimately. The drivers can so better master the information about spatial contribution of the parks and dynamic changes of information around the destination, that they can track the information of the interesting park continuously.
