Baş","doi":"10.30786/jef.835078","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.30786/jef.835078","url":null,"abstract":"In this research, it was aimed to investigate the graduate theses with metacognition theme on mathematics education according to their structural properties (publication year, method, study group, data collection tools and data analysis technique) and study topics. 80 graduate theses were reached within the scope of the research. At a result of the descriptive analyses, it was noticed that the number of theses has increased until recent years except from 2009, 2014 and 2017 and the highest number of conducted researches were in 2019. It was determined that generally the quantitative research approach was employed in the studies; accordingly, it was focused on descriptive and experimental studies. It was also found that most of the researches were carried with secondary school students, mostly questionnaires/ open-ended questionnaires/ scales/ tests were applied and mostly t-test, descriptive statistics and correlation tests were used in the analyses process. This study was carried out in descriptive research (survey) method. The study group was composed of 81 teachers working at Montessori, Reggio Emiliainspired and MoNE preschools in Kadıköy, Maltepe and Ataşehir districts of İstanbul. \"Attitude Scale for Family Participation Studies for Teachers\" was used as a data collection tool. In the analysis of the data, Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U tests were used. As a result of data analysis; the attitude scores of the teachers working in the Reggio Emilia-inspired preschools were higher than the Montessori-inspired and MoNE preschools. In this context, it was detected that the Reggio Emilia approach is determinative on the teachers’ attitudes regarding the family participation practices in preshools included in the study. To investigate teachers’ use of DT, a questionnaire was completed by 167 preschool teachers from 52 different preschools. Besides, the Attitude Scale for Technological Tools and Materials Use in Preschool Education was completed by the teachers. The results of the study revealed that the classrooms were equipped with a variety of DT such as television, DVD, computer, and smartphone. Teachers tended to use television and computers in the classroom activities. Although the teachers had a positive attitude towards using DT in early childhood education, they used ICT on a limited scale. They mainly utilized these devices in order for the children to watch cartoon films and listen to music. Gender, teaching experience, and attitudes of teachers towards using ICT did not significantly predict their DT usage in their classroom activities. The results imply that though teachers had enough DT sources and positive attitude towards using those devices in their classroom activities, their DT usage was limited to few types of activities.
