In this contribution, I discuss the (actual and potential) role of »Queer Linguistics« as well as its (inter-)disciplinary position. I start from the polysemic term queer as well as Queer Theory/Queer Studies and then turn to focus on Applied Queer Linguistics. My aim is twofold: on the one hand, I want to highlight the potential of this direction in linguistics, which extends beyond questions regarding LGBTIQA* experiences, gender and sexuality. On the other hand, I seek to critically address certain issues around Queer Linguistics, including tensions between anti-essentialism and >identity politics DeutschAuch in der Sprachwissenschaft nehmen sogenannte queere Ansatze einen immer bedeutenderen Platz ein. Im folgenden Beitrag soll diskutiert werden, welche Rolle »Queere Linguistik« inzwischen spielt oder noch spielen konnte und wo sie sich (inter-)disziplinar einordnen lasst. Dabei wird vom polysemen Begriff queer und von der Queer Theory bzw. den Queer Studies ausgegangen und schlieslich ein Schwerpunkt auf Angewandte Queere Linguistik gelegt. Geht es einerseits um das Potenzial dieser sprachwissenschaftlichen Ausrichtung, das weit uber LGBTIQA*-, Gender- und Sexualitatsfragen hinausreichen konnte, so sollen andererseits auch einige problematische Punkte kritisch angesprochen werden, nicht zuletzt im Spannungsfeld zwischen antiessenzialistischen und – in letzter Zeit ja wieder sehr in den Vordergrund geruckten >identitatspolitischen","PeriodicalId":41354,"journal":{"name":"MUTTERSPRACHE","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70796823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a category grid derived from the international research literature, the linguistic form children in the first grade (N = 303) choose for definitions of concrete and abstract nouns as well as verbs are investigated. Comparing data from the same children in second grade, their development within one year is analyzed. Furthermore, the children’s definitions at the two time points are compared with the definitions of young adults (N = 63) in order to provide an outlook on the further development of definitional skills into young adulthood in the sense of an apparent-time analysis. The results show that children already have developed a formal awareness of definitions in the first school year. Only within one year, there is a slight overall tendency towards more abstract categories. Comparing the results with those of young adults, the general development from functional via descriptive towards categorical forms becomes very clear. A comparison of different word types shows that in all age groups concrete nouns are defined most abstractly (even some first graders use categorical forms with hyperonym and specification), but this competence is not automatically transferred to other word types. Within the short period of one year, no specific development towards more abstract definitions can be detected on an individual level, but »regressions« can also be identified. The results show that the quality of a definition is not only influenced by the age of the person and her or his vocabulary skills, but also by the individual definiendum as well as its word type. DeutschGegenstand dieses Beitrags sind die Definitionskompetenzen von Kindern im ersten und zweiten Schuljahr sowie von jungen Erwachsenen. Auf der Grundlage eines aus der internationalen Forschungsliteratur abgeleiteten Kategorienrasters wird untersucht, welche sprachliche Form Kinder in der ersten Klasse fur Definitionen von konkreten und abstrakten Nomen sowie Verben wahlen (N = 303). Anhand von Vergleichsdaten derselben Kinder aus der zweiten Klasse wird ihre Entwicklung innerhalb eines Jahres analysiert. Den Kinderdefinitionen der beiden Zeitpunkte werden die Definitionen junger Erwachsener (N = 63) gegenubergestellt, um im Sinne einer Apparent-time-Analyse einen Ausblick auf die weitere Entwicklung von Definitionskompetenzen bis ins junge Erwachsenenalter zu geben. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass Kinder bereits im ersten Schuljahr ein Bewusstsein fur die Form von Definitionen entwickelt haben. Bereits innerhalb eines Jahres ist gesamthaft eine leichte Tendenz zu abstrakteren Kategorien erkennbar. Vergleicht man die Ergebnisse mit denen junger Erwachsener, so wird die generelle Entwicklung von funktionalen uber deskriptive in Richtung kategorialer Formen sehr deutlich. It is a common belief amongst the German speaking community that the Hanoverians speak a variety of High German close to the standard. This paper presents the results of the first representative survey about the dissemination of this »Hanover- myth«, conducted in October 2020 as a part of the project »Die Stadtsprache Hannovers« (›The urban vernacular of Hanover‹, funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft – DFG). This survey not only focuses on the loci of the »best High German« but also on possible regions without dialectal interferences in standard performance and the geographical poles of comprehensibility to get a bigger picture of lay speaker’s conceptualization of High German standard. The results of the representative survey indicate that the language myth of the »purest« German in Hanover is alive: The capital of Lower Saxony indeed is widely considered as the focus point of standard localization by lay speakers all over Germany. The findings further show that the German standard variety is highly conceptualized by phonetic-phonological factors. Regionally and socially determined differences in concepts and localization appear as well, which are also discussed. DeutschEine unter linguistischen Laiinnen und Laien sowie im offentlichen Sprachdiskurs des deutschen Sprachraums oft anzutreffende Annahme lautet, dass Hannover die Stadt mit dem wahlweise »besten« oder »reinsten« Hochdeutsch sei. Im Rahmen des DFG-Projekts »Die Stadtsprache Hannovers« wird die Verbreitung dieses sprachlichen »Mythos« unter den Bundesburgerinnen und -burgern erstmalig mittels einer reprasentativen Umfrage untersucht. Dabei wird nicht nur offen nach dem Ort des »besten Hochdeutschs« gefragt, sondern es werden auch weitere Konzeptauspragungen (Verstandlichkeit, geringe Dialektalitat, evaluativer Referenzpunkt) und Inhalte des laikalen Hochdeutsch-Konzeptes erfragt. Der Artikel stellt die wichtigsten Ergebnisse dieser Lokalisierung und Konzeptualisierung vor, zu denen insbesondere die bundesweite »Lebendigkeit « des »Mythos« in der Wahrnehmung sprachwissenschaftlicher Laiinnen und Laien zahlt. Hannover wird tatsachlich als geografischer Fokuspunkt des »besten« Hochdeutsch bestatigt, fur welches insbesondere die Aussprache eine ausnehmend starke Rolle spielt. Auch regionale, altersbedingte sowie weitere Unterschiede werden im Artikel besprochen.","PeriodicalId":41354,"journal":{"name":"MUTTERSPRACHE","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2021-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70796363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":4,"RegionCategory":"文学","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
