The magnitude of these variations depend upon the load rating. These fluctuations leads to loss in power quality and ultimately blackouts. Dynamic addition of capacitor banks brings solution to this problem. In this paper, the Dynamic Power Factor Control (DPFC) of single phase AC system is discussed. This paper proposes a method of adding and removing capacitor banks dynamically from the system using MOSFET switches. This is done to compensate for the reactive power fluctuations occurring in the system owing to the changing load pattern. Different grades of capacitor banks are used to compensate to the required level thereby bringing power factor close to unity.","PeriodicalId":412649,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Smart Technologies and Management for Computing, Communication, Controls, Energy and Materials (ICSTM)","volume":"241 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115595423","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Graph-based technique of fault detection and isolation is the unique methodology that can cope with the diagnosis design for cement plant which is of highly complexity and nonlinearity. Structural analysis is a graph-based powerful tool that helps to analyze the system properties. By generating the Analytical Redundancy Relation (ARR) the fault diagnosis operation is carried out. Structural analysis consists of set of constraints that model the system normal behavior. Fault is the violation of one or more constraints. Structural analysis is able to determine which constraints in the system deviate from normal and determines which faults can be detected and isolated. Other system properties like reachability, monitorability and controllability are also addressed. This technique is performed using SaTool which is a MATLAB based structural analysis tool.","PeriodicalId":412649,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Smart Technologies and Management for Computing, Communication, Controls, Energy and Materials (ICSTM)","volume":"149 11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130150880","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The safety is the main concern for the occupant. Autonomous door locking system works on the basis of the inputs from the vehicle's state of movement and the driver's input. The nature of occupant within the vehicle is not valued, but the direct control is taken into account and the vehicle is locked from the interior. The existence of child occupancy within the vehicle is the constraint of the proposed system. The probability of neurotoxic levels is high within the locked vehicle due to the increase in temperature in parked conditions. The system aims at warning the driver intimating the occupancy status of the vehicle in both autonomous as well as driver imposed locking. Beyond the warning made, the system unlocks the doors if the cabin temperature exceeds 40°C.","PeriodicalId":412649,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Smart Technologies and Management for Computing, Communication, Controls, Energy and Materials (ICSTM)","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121819518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In some cases accidents also occurs due to mechanical failure of the vehicle. But in most of the cases it is due to human who drives these vehicles in crowded areas. In order to avoid such a situation highway department has placed signboards to alert the drivers, but it is not always possible to view those signboards while driving. So the drivers may lose their control over the brakes and also may collide with other pedestrians or it may hit any stationary vehicles. In order to avoid this situation we are using a new system for detecting crowded areas called safety zones and avoiding collision. The system automatically controls the speed of the vehicle at various safety zones. This system is designed with two separate units: Zone status transmitter unit and Vehicle control unit, once the emergency zone is detected, the control data can be exchanged between vehicle control unit and the road side transmitter unit, and the controller automatically reduces the speed of the vehicle. Simulation and experimental result shows that this system is easily adopted and avoids collisions.","PeriodicalId":412649,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Smart Technologies and Management for Computing, Communication, Controls, Energy and Materials (ICSTM)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121750902","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Sometimes the shaft may be stiff, but in applications such as rolling mill drives, robotic arms, conveyor belts etc., the shaft is elastic. These elastic joints are susceptible to angular vibrations called torsional vibrations that limit the performance of industrial drives. Due to this the motor speed may be different from the load speed. To solve this problem speed controllers are used which will adjust the load speed and the motor speed with that of the reference speed. Fuzzy logic controllers and PI controllers were used earlier. The limitation of these controllers is the lack of analytical tuning. In recent years, neural network have been applied for the control of two mass systems. Adaptive Linear Neuron (ADALINE) based speed controller with an efficient adaptation algorithm can be used to stabilize the two mass drive systems. The control signal to be applied to the two mass system is generated by the ADALINE controller which updates its weight value on demand. The design of modules can be done in Xilinx System Generator. System generator enables the use of MATLAB/Simulink for simulating the designed modules. It also enables the user to create user defined blocks. The modules that are designed in System Generator can be implemented in FPGA. The work is further extended by modifying the linear activation function present in the ADALINE module by non linear activation function.","PeriodicalId":412649,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Smart Technologies and Management for Computing, Communication, Controls, Energy and Materials (ICSTM)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-27","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124024856","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Integration of the fuel cell power system with AC distribution grid using multilevel cascade H bridge inverter for improving the power quality has been analyzed and results presented in this paper. A 13 level cascade H-bridge inverter with minimum number of switches has been designed. The inverter pulses are generated with respect to common connection point Busbar voltage for synchronizing Fuel cell bus to AC grid bus Voltage. The main aim of this paper is to reduce the total harmonic distortions and improve the power quality when Fuel cell power is integrated with AC grid. Available systems are expensive and are mostly meant for industrial applications. The implementation begins with a basic thermal array which detects the infrared radiations from the human body part and then converts them to electronic signal. Scene captured by the sensor is represented as a matrix. Each element of matrix represents a temperature value. Temperature is calculated and a pseudo color image is developed with the help of a microcontroller. The major disadvantage of which is the direct discharge of human waste on railway track and water bodies continuously throughout its journey. This discharge waste does not only corrode the railway tracks, but also result in contamination of atmosphere. Since very long, Indian Railway has been trying to overcome this problem, by implanting CDTS (Controlled Discharge Toilet system - developed by DRDO and IR engineers) and ZDTS (zero discharge toilet system developed by RDSO, Lucknow and IIT Kanpur). In CDTS technology the human waste is being discharged on railway tracks itself, once the train attains a speed of approximately 30km/hour and more till then it is being stored in inbuilt retention tanks present underneath the toilets. This technology only reduces the amount of discharged waste on tracks only to some extent and not completely. CDTS toilets are very expensive and even incapable to prevent the corrosion on tracks. While in ZDTS, toilet system remains the same, only the discharge parameters and location is different. Here, instead of directly discharging the waste on tracks, it is being collected in retention tanks and converted into fertilizers first with the addition of anaerobic bacteria. Then it is dumped onto barren lands. But ZDTS technology has its own limitations such as on being used by a large number of passengers at a time and discharge of non-biodegradable waste in the toilets due to which system will get jammed, because in such situations bacteria cannot convert non-biodegradable waste and human waste into organic manure. Therefore, we proposed a new technique to overcome these types of problem generated by CDTS and Zero discharge system.","PeriodicalId":412649,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Smart Technologies and Management for Computing, Communication, Controls, Energy and Materials (ICSTM)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-05-06","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121978176","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
