The approach has two main advantages: 1) only one marker is necessary; and 2) it has a low computational cost. As a result of the second feature, this proposal is ideal for mobile devices. Our method is implemented in ARToolkitPlus library, but it could be implemented in another marker-tracking library with square markers. A little extra image processing is needed, taking advantage of temporal coherence. Results show that user feels enough realistic sensation to apply this technique in some applications.","PeriodicalId":411140,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123660971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Relying principally on changes in video images, the method tends to fail in presence of shadows and illumination changes. This paper explores a possible remedy to these problems by using range cameras instead of conventional video cameras. As range is an intrinsic measure of object geometry, it is basically not affected by illumination. The study described in this paper considers range detection by two state-of-the art cameras, namely a stereo and a time-of-flight camera. Performed investigations consider typical situations of pedestrian detection. The presented results are analyzed and compared in performance with conventional results. The study shows the effective potential of range camera to get rid of light change problems like shadow effects but also presents some current limitations of range cameras.","PeriodicalId":411140,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications","volume":"114 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132672283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many systems rely on color-based object or feature detection using color segmentation. A static approach based on preinitialized calibration data is not likely to perform very well under natural light. In this paper we present an unsupervised approach for color segmentation which is able to self-adapt to varying lighting conditions during run-time. The approach comprises two steps: initialization and iterative tracking of color regions. Its applicability has been tested on vision systems of soccer robots participating in RoboCup tournaments.","PeriodicalId":411140,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications","volume":"58 5","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132070021","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Image driven environment perception is one of the main research topics in the field of autonomous robot applications and fundamental for further action-plannings like three dimensional collision detection and prevention for grasping tasks. Perception will be done at two spatial-temporal varying positions by a micro-head camera mounted on a six-degree-of-freedom robot-arm of our mobile service-robot TASER. The epipolar geometry and fundamentalmatrix will be computed by preliminary extracted corners of both input images detected by a Harris-cornerdetector. The input images will be rectified using the fundamentalmatrix to align corresponding scanlines together on the same vertical image coordinates. Afterwards a stereo correspondence is accomplished by a fast Birchfield algorithm that provides a 2.5 dimensional depth map of the scene. Based on the depth map a three dimensional textured point-cloud is represented as interactive OpenGL scene model for further actionplanning algorithms in three dimensional space.","PeriodicalId":411140,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129651842","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Non-operative corrections, such as the orthotic compression brace, require previous information of the patient chest surface, to improve the overall brace fit. This paper focuses on the validation of the Kinect scanner for the modelling of an orthotic compression brace for the correction of Pectus Carinatum. To this extent, a phantom chest wall surface was acquired using two scanner systems – Kinect and Polhemus FastSCAN – and compared through CT. The results show a RMS error of 3.25mm between the CT data and the surface mesh from the Kinect sensor and 1.5mm from the FastSCAN sensor.","PeriodicalId":411140,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-08-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124706797","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A transform using an analogy to light rays has been developed for the detection of circular and tubular features. It uses a 2D ray tracing algorithm to follow rays through an image, interacting at a low level, to emphasise higher level features. It has been empirically tested as a pre-processor to aid circle detection with the Hough Transform and has been shown to provide a clear improvement over standard techniques. The transform was also used on natural images and we show its ability to highlight circles even in complex scenes. We also show the flexibility available to the technique through adjustment of parameters.","PeriodicalId":411140,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128125922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, we present a novel technique for synthesizing strabismic face images from a normal frontal face image. This image synthesis is needed for conducting studies in psychosocial and vocational implications of strabismus and strabismus surgery and we are not aware of any previous work for this purpose. The experimental results demonstrate the potential of our approach. The algorithm presented in this paper provides the basis for two related tasks of correction of strabismic face images and gaze direction.","PeriodicalId":411140,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications","volume":"119 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123470718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Choosing the importance proposal distribution is a key issue for solving nonlinear filtering problems. Practical object tracking problems encourage researchers to design better candidate for proposal distribution in order to gain better performance. In this correspondence, a new algorithm referred to as the hybrid iterated Kalman particle filter (HIKPF) is proposed. The proposed algorithm is developed from unscented Kalman filter (UKF) and iterated extended Kalman filter (IEKF) to generate the proposal distribution, which lead to an efficient use of the latest observations and generates more close approximation of the posterior probability density. Comparing with previously suggested methods(e.g PF, PF-EKF, PF-UKF, PF-IEKF), our proposed method shows a better performance and tracking accuracy. The correctness as well as validity of the algorithm is demonstrated through numerical simulation and experiment results.","PeriodicalId":411140,"journal":{"name":"International Conference on Computer Vision Theory and Applications","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-07-17","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114966699","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
