Our Institution (The Historiographical Institute, the University of Tokyo) has been constructing and providing the information related to Japanese history and Japanese historical materials for more than 130 years. There is a diversity of data items for the materials, because data items added by some factors such as collections, eras and types are different. In order to make it easy to use the collected historical materials, we set fundamental items of them. We explain the features of each element. We will also describe the applications using that elements and their effects.","PeriodicalId":409931,"journal":{"name":"2018 Pacific Neighborhood Consortium Annual Conference and Joint Meetings (PNC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132772662","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study considered representing uncertainty of temporal data based on duration. Uncertain duration, which is a continuous range, was applied to represent duration of an uncertain time interval and temporal distance between two time intervals. Additionally, this study examined relation between two values of uncertain duration and observed that the relation portrayed three states, namely reliable, possible, and impossible. If these representations and relations are implemented using semantic Web technology and provided as Linked Data, uncertain temporal data are expected to be effectively used for retrieval, analysis, and other purposes.","PeriodicalId":409931,"journal":{"name":"2018 Pacific Neighborhood Consortium Annual Conference and Joint Meetings (PNC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129103847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, in image searches, humans tend to describe objects in fine-grained detail like color or company, for which conventional retrieval algorithms have shown poor performance. In this paper, a novel approach for open vocabulary image retrieval, capable of selecting the correct candidate image from among a set of distractions given a query in natural language form, is presented. Our methodology focuses on generating a robust set of image-text projections capable of accurately representing any image, with an objective of achieving high recall. To this end, an ensemble of classifiers is trained on ImageNet for representing high-resolution objects, Cifar 100 for smaller resolution images of objects and Caltech 256 for challenging views of everyday objects, for generating category-based projections. In addition to category based projections, we also make use of an image captioning model trained on MS COCO and Google Image Search (GISS) to capture additional semantic/latent information about the candidate images. To facilitate image retrieval, the natural language query and projection results are converted to a common vector representation using word embeddings, with which query-image similarity is computed. The proposed model when benchmarked on the RefCoco dataset, achieved an accuracy of 68.8%, while retrieving semantically meaningful candidate images.","PeriodicalId":409931,"journal":{"name":"2018 Pacific Neighborhood Consortium Annual Conference and Joint Meetings (PNC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126682049","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, a composite model that leverages Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) for bidirectional Web service recommendation (bi-WSR) is proposed. The QoS based recommendation model is built on degree of user satisfaction, calculated using a special normalization technique and user satisfaction functions like response time and throughput. The QoE model is trained on a dataset containing positive, negative and neutral textual reviews of web services for sentiment analysis and mapped to each service's QoS values using a clustering method. This further optimizes the recommendation of web services to consumers, as the sentiment score of reviews is integrated with the user satisfaction using weighted average scoring. To describe the relationship between both web services & consumers and providers & consumers, a cube model is built. For recommending services to consumers and recommending potential consumers to service providers, hybrid collaborative filtering based techniques were used. The results obtained when only QoS is used, and when QoS and sentiment analysis scores are integrated to form QoE showed significant improvement in the quality of recommendation.","PeriodicalId":409931,"journal":{"name":"2018 Pacific Neighborhood Consortium Annual Conference and Joint Meetings (PNC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131521761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Getty vocabularies have been a mainstay of cataloging, indexing, and access for art, architecture, and other cultural heritage information since the 1980s. They are compiled resources that grow through contributions from the expert user community. They are multicultural and multilingual, currently being translated in several languages. With the release of the AAT (Art & Architecture Thesaurus®), ULAN (Union List of Artist Names ®), and TGN (Getty Thesaurus of Geographic Names®) as Linked Open Data (LOD), [2] the Getty vocabularies are entering a new world of seemingly limitless possibilities in digital scholarship. With the addition of new resources, CONA (Cultural Objects Name Authority®) and the Getty Iconography Authority (IA), the Getty vocabularies are poised to truly become linchpins in joining disparate resources from diverse disciplines, including art museums, special collections, libraries, archives, conservation, archaeology, visual resources, universities, and other researchers. The Getty vocabularies may serve as conduits through which data about art, architecture, and other cultural heritage are created and accessed for research and discovery. From their inception, the Getty vocabularies were designed to be linkable to each other and to the broader realm of cultural heritage information. For example, in the AAT, concepts are linked to each other through hierarchical and associative relationships with defined relationship types that inform the user that a rhyta (http://vocab.getty.edu/page/aat/300198841) is a type of ancient drinking vessel having an animal shape and is distinguished from vessels in other cultures having a similar purpose or appearance, such as stirrup cups and sturzbechers. In ULAN, the record for a person such as Katsushika Hokusai (http://vocab.getty.edu/page/ulan/500060426) may include various go names and aliases, and links to records for his teachers, family, and a novelist with whom he collaborated. In TGN, a geographic place record for Siena (http://vocab.getty.edu/page/tgn/7011179) may include ancient names, as well as links to multiple broader hierarchical contexts, for the modern nation of Italy as well as the ancient confederation of states, Etruria. In the IA, an Aztec character Ometecuhtli (http://vocab.getty.edu/page/ia/901002056) may be linked to named legends in which he is a character, as well as to other characters or places to which he is related. In CONA, titles/names and other information for works of art, including architecture, movable works (paintings, sculptures, textiles), and conceptual works (multiples) are linked to AAT, ULAN, TGN, IA and external sources, linking rich information from multiple sources to describe works whether extant, destroyed, or designed but never built","PeriodicalId":409931,"journal":{"name":"2018 Pacific Neighborhood Consortium Annual Conference and Joint Meetings (PNC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131131054","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to decrease the damage of tissue and accelerate the recovery, minimally invasive surgery is strongly desired. Because of this, the preoperative planning and intraoperative guidance become very important. A 3D vertebrae model of the surgical site will be built for these purposes from the computer tomography (CT) images. The segmentation methods of vertebrae from the CT images for modeling are widely concerned. The conventional methods were satisfactory but they usually required prior knowledge of the vertebrae. Recently, the deep learning convolutional neural network (CNN) showed an outstanding performance on the end-to-end semantic image segmentation. Benefit from this, we propose an effective and simple convolution neural network based approach for vertebrae segmentation. Different from training and testing on large 3D data, the axial view images are used effectively in this study. A sequence of simple image processing steps are applied for the intervertebral plane detection. Five CT cases are used on this study and the segmentation results are highly accurate with average dice similarity coefficient over 0.95.","PeriodicalId":409931,"journal":{"name":"2018 Pacific Neighborhood Consortium Annual Conference and Joint Meetings (PNC)","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123594121","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
