The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of wearing RHIs for 60 days on overall body functions and mechanical adaption.\u0000\u0000Materials and Methods: This study measured pelvic range of motion (ROM), balance, two-point discrimination (2PD), ankle joint ROM, lower back pain (LBP), muscle tone, stiffness, and decrement in male subjects in their 20s. Subjects wore RHIs (5 cm) for 8 h per day for 8 weeks (60 days). Measurements were conducted at 0, 30, and 60 days after the experiment began. Repeated-measures one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed to examine the effects of wearing duration (0, 30, and 60 days) on variables followed by a post-hoc test (Dunnett T3) when there was a significant difference.\u0000\u0000Results: Pelvic ROM decreased (p < 0.01), whereas static balance and 2PD increased (p < 0.001, p < 0.01, respectively) when the duration of wearing RHIs increased. The pelvic ROM on day 0 was significantly different from that on day 60 (p = 0.01). Static balance showed significant differences between day 0 and day 60 or day 30 (p = 0.000, p = 0.000, respectively). Dynamic balance, ankle joint ROM, and LBP did not differ significantly. The muscle tone of the plantar flexors (medial gastrocnemius) increased (p < 0.05), whereas decrement decreased (p < 0.05).\u0000\u0000Conclusions: It was found that wearing RHIs for a long time would adversely affect the human body. Wearing RHIs for a long time decreased pelvic ROM, whereas static balance and 2PD increased. It might have affected the overall body functions by increasing the muscle tone of the plantar flexors and worsening dynamic stiffness at the same time. The clinical significance lies in the fact that wearing RHIs for long durations would adversely affect the human body.

This study analyzes the effects of Branched-Chain Amino Acids (BCAA) and creatine (CR) supplementation on anaerobic capacity and ball kicking speed in football players.\u0000\u0000Material and methods: 24 volunteer-active male amateur football players between 18--26 were recruited for this study. Football players were randomly divided into three groups as BCAA (n = 8), CR (n = 8), and placebo (PLA) (n = 8). Experimental groups were given 5 g BCAA and 2 g creatine before and after exercise, whereas the placebo group ingested bran, performance tests and measurements were performed, and results were assessed.\u0000\u0000Results: BCAA group average power (pre: 530.70 ± 53.73 W vs. post: 567.65 ± 66.68 W; p = 0.028), CR group minimum power (pre: 413.75 ± 51.13 W vs. post: 462.82 ± 71.93 W; p = 0.043) increased, while there were decreases in peak power (pre: 659.34 ± 121.03 W vs. post: 613.20 ± 124.24 W; p = 0.043) and fatigue index (pre: 6.55 ± 2.12 W/s vs. post: 4.34 ± 2.37 W/s; p = 0.043) parameters of PLA group (p < 0.05). Aetiology of idiopathic male infertility is still controversial. In this cross-sectional retrospective study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between serum vitamin D level and sperm quality in patients with idiopathic male infertility. Methods: Between June 2018 and June 2020, 297 patients including 147 men with idiopathic infertility (as a study group) and 150 fertile men (as a control group) were retrospectively enrolled into the study. Blood samples were collected, and these samples included serum sex steroids, serum vitamin D levels, glucose tests, lipid profiles, liver function tests and kidney function tests. At least two sperm analyses, scrotal doppler ultrasonography and karyotype analysis were performed on each of the patients. Demographic, laboratory and radiological features were also recorded. The MannWhitney-U test was used to compare groups and quantitative independent data. The Chi-square test was used for qualitative independent data. Spearman's correlation analysis was applied for correlation. Significant results were investigated and analysed further using the logistic regression test. Results: The mean age of the patients was 31.98 ± 6.97 years. The mean serum vitamin D level of the patients was 23.16 ± 10.40 ng/dL and the mean infertility duration of patients with idiopathic infertility was 29.88 ± 28.86 months. We observed statistical significance in terms of serum vitamin D levels, impaired total spermmotility, progressive spermmotility and spermmorphology in idiopathic infertile men when compared to fertile men. There were no statistically significant between idiopathic infertile men and fertile men in terms of serum testosterone levels. Conclusions: We observed a positive correlation between serum vitamin D levels and impaired sperm parameters, specifically in terms of sperm morphology, total sperm motility and progressive sperm motility. Vitamin D supplementation may be a beneficial contribution to achieving high paternity rates in men with idiopathic male infertility.

Data was collected through semi-structured interviews and four superordinate themes emerged during the analysis: (1) Pushed and Pulled in Different Directions, (2) A Rollercoaster of Emotions, (3) A Long and Lonely Road and (4) Anticipating Fatherhood. The prenatal period seemed to constitute a turbulent time in the participants' lives and involved them experiencing intense, conflicting emotions and psychological states amidst a shifting sense of self, with few support resources available to them. Volleyball players' life were affected by COVID-19 infection, the layout of training, and competitions. This study aims to show the effect of COVID-19 infection on the performance of volleyball players. Methods: Nineteen volleyball players aged 15-20 in the same volleyball club and infected with COVID19 in the first league of their country were included in the study. Weight, height, fat percentage, muscle mass, countermovement jump, Squat jump, Spike jump tests, and agility T-tests records were compared before (1 and 2 measures) and after the COVID-19 infection (3 and 4 measures). The team physician asked and recorded the players' feelings about changes in their sports performance after the COVID-19 infection. Results: The mean number of PCR (+) days was 13.4 +/- 2.6. All the median differences of the vertical jump tests had a statistically significant increase at every measure except for the Countermovement jump and squat jump' last two measures, squat jump' first two measures, and spike jump' between twice and third measures. The median differences between the first and last agility T-tests were not statistically significant (p = 0.277). The feeling of volleyball players about the sports performance level was decreased by 57.9%, increase 10.5%, no change 31.6%. Conclusions: Volleyball players' vertical jump performance was getting better despite the COVID19 infection in our study. Inactivity might be more harmful than COVID-19 infection on sports performance.

Aerobic exercise is one of the effective strategies for reducing the levels of various pro-inflammatory biomolecules in obese individuals. However, the effects of aerobic exercise training on circulating ANGPTL2 levels in obese individuals remain unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of aerobic exercise training on serum ANGPTL2 levels in overweight and obese men. Material and methods: Twenty overweight and obese men (age, 49 ± 10 years; body mass index, 27.4 ± 2.2 kg/m) completed a 12-week aerobic exercise training program (60–85% Heart ratemax, 40–60 min/day, 3 days/week). Before and after the exercise program, serum ANGPTL2 levels were measured using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Daily step counts and the different physical activities based on the intensity were assessed using a triaxial accelerometer. Results: Serum ANGPTL2 levels were significantly decreased after the 12-week aerobic exercise training program ((3.0 ± 0.6) vs. (2.7 ± 0.7) ng/mL, P < 0.05). Daily step counts ((8362 ± 4551) vs. (10357 ± 3168) steps/day, P < 0.05) and moderateto vigorous-intensity physical activity (MVPA) time ((58 ± 45) vs. (76 ± 37) min/day, P < 0.001) were significantly increased after the exercise intervention. The changes in serum ANGPTL2 levels were negatively correlated with corresponding changes in daily step counts (partial r = –0.49, P< 0.05) and MVPA time (partial r = –0.47, P< 0.05) after adjustment for age and accelerometer wear time. Conlcusion: These findings collectively suggest that aerobic exercise training, in particular an increase in MVPA, can be associated with decreased circulating levels of ANGPTL2 in overweight and obese men.

Among these, 12 were evaluated in the squat and 22 in the bench press. After determining the maximal strength load (1RM), each participant performed a training set (3 × 6 repetitions) with 80%1RM (training load) after completing a specific warm-up and without warming up, in random order. The warm-up comprised 2 × 6 repetitions with 40% and 80% of the training load, respectively. Mean propulsive velocity, velocity loss, peak velocity, mechanical power, work, heart rate and ratings of perceived exertion were assessed.\u0000\u0000Results: The results showed that after the warm-up, the participants were able to perform the squat and bench press at a higher mean propulsive velocity in the first set (squat: 0.68 ± 0.05 vs. 0.64 ± 0.06 m·s−1, p = 0.009, ES = 0.91; bench press: 0.52 ± 0.06 vs. 0.47 ± 0.08 m·s−1, p = 0.02, ES = 0.56). It has been previously shown that arterial stiffness, which is an index of cardiovascular disease, is significantly higher in Japanese overweight and obese men. Increased levels of pentraxin3 (PTX3), a novel anti-inflammatory substance mainly produced in the atherosclerotic region, due to weight reduction has been proposed to reflect an improvement in arterial stiffness. However, this has not been investigated. Methods: Here, we elucidate whether an individual who has significantly increased plasma PTX3 concentration result in a significantly decreased arterial stiffness compared to a smaller change in PTX3 level after a 12-week dietary modified weight reduction program in twenty overweight or obese Japanese men. A well-balanced dietary modification weight-loss program was implemented for overweight and obese men over a course of 12-week. Results: Prior to and after the program, we measured anthropometric variables, blood pressure, arterial stiffness, and circulating biochemistry, including plasma PTX3 concentrations. We then compared the differences in arterial stiffness between two groups, low or high ∆PTX3 groups, based on the median of delta of plasma PTX3 levels before and after weight reduction via modified diet habit in men with overweight and obesity. Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV) as index of central arterial stiifness and brachial-ankle PWV as index of whole body arterial stiffness were significantly decreased in the high ∆PTX3 group after dietary modification. Conclusions: Our present results suggest that PTX3 could be a clinically useful biochemical index for monitoring appropriate arterial function maintenance in obese weight control.
