Research has been focused on creating more accurate attack detection approaches by considering different image properties. However, all the attacks considered so far are based on manipulating facial landmarks localized in the morphed face images. In contrast, this work presents novel face morphing attacks based on image generated by generative adversarial networks. We present the MorGAN structure that considers the representation loss to successfully create realistic morphing attacks. Based on that, we present a novel face morphing attacks database (MorGAN database) that contains 1000 morph images for both, the proposed MorGAN and landmark-based attacks. We present vulnerability analysis of two face recognition approaches facing the proposed attacks. Moreover, the detectability of the proposed MorGAN attacks is studied, in the scenarios where this type of attacks is know and un- known. We concluded with pointing out the challenge of detecting such unknown novel attacks and an analysis of detection performances of different features in detecting such attacks.","PeriodicalId":409205,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 9th International Conference on Biometrics Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116002531","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The dataset consists of images and surveillance video collected from 202 subjects at a Department of Defense (DoD) training facility. Surveillance video was captured across multiple vignettes representative of a variety of real-world surveillance use cases that are particularly of interest to law enforcement and national security communities. Each video was annotated by human subject matter experts in order to generate ground truth identity and bounding box face labels. In total, over 10 million annotations were collected for the dataset. We present benchmark results utilizing state of the art deep learning approaches such as FaceNet. Our results illustrate and characterize the difficulty of the dataset.","PeriodicalId":409205,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 9th International Conference on Biometrics Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124625134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The reported accuracy reduction is mainly caused by a shift of the genuine score distributions towards the impostor ones. This fact raised discussions about the reasons behind eventual template ageing effects in fingerprint recognition. Analysing the only publicly available time-separated fingerprint dataset (CASIA Fingerprint Subject Ageing Version 1.0), it is demonstrated in the current study that (i) advances in recognition technology mitigate the earlier observed decrease in recognition accuracy and (ii) advances in fingerprint quality assessment now lead to the conclusion that it is indeed fingerprint quality which causes the earlier observed recognition impact. Current results on this dataset do not suggest the existence of a fingerprint template ageing effect.","PeriodicalId":409205,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 9th International Conference on Biometrics Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132742198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Body-Taps require a user to set a TapCode as an unlock code for the device by tapping the device on the set anchor points on his or her own body. The target device is authenticated based on two criterion: (1) the user’s knowledge of the set Tap-Code, and (2) the BodyTap gestures measured through the smart device’s built-in motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope). Our experiments show that the proposed Body-Taps system can achieve an average authentication accuracy over 99.5% on a dataset comprising of 230 Body-Tap samples from 23 subjects, using Random Forest (RF), Neural Network (NNet), and Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) classifiers. Our work yields a light-weight, low-cost, and easy-to-use secure authentication system that requires minimal efforts and offers satisfactory usability.","PeriodicalId":409205,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 9th International Conference on Biometrics Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128861840","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since a CA system continuously checks for the presence of the logged in user it is more secure and facilitates schemes with multiple levels of security. CA is suitable for mobile platforms due to the ease of use, transparency and security it provides. We evaluate the usability of CA in a widespread manner by conducting a survey with roughly 500 respondents. This is the first paper to relate perceptions toward CA to the users security awareness.The perceptions of security towards biometrics based methods have improved over the last 20 years, compared to secret based methods. We show that now, biometrics are perceived to be more secure than other methods. We found that users see a requirement for multiple levels of security. Furthermore users are willing to adopt CA for mobile devices. We analyze factors like security awareness, gender and mobile device operating system, to draw statistically significant conclusions regarding their effect on users willingness to adopt CA and their perceptions about CA.The findings and major concerns highlighted in this paper should be considered when designing a CA system for mobile devices.","PeriodicalId":409205,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 9th International Conference on Biometrics Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS)","volume":"413 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116181724","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study makes use of the t-SNE technique to understand the evolution of clustering through the pretrained network layers and reveals an interesting property of t-SNE to spot separability of clusters in the original space. The performance of simple classifiers for the secondary soft-biometrics tasks through the network reinforce the findings about t-SNE. This study is extensible to any model that maps the input classes into an embedded low-dimensional space that learned to cluster them in task-meaningful sets. We conclude that a state of the art face verification model can be easily leveraged to state of the art soft biometrics model without resorting to fine-tuning convolutional weights, which also allows reducing the model size and inference time.","PeriodicalId":409205,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 9th International Conference on Biometrics Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128287391","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the increasing number and variety of connected devices that can be accessed by multiple users, the need for seamless authentication and identification mechanisms is greater now than ever. Seamless, non-interruptive mechanisms are required to personalize these devices and non-intrusive biometric technologies are gaining popularity as an answer to this automated personalization challenge. In this work, we evaluate the biometric efficacies of a fully integrated toilet (FIT) seat, designed for monitoring a subjects cardiac health parameters such as electrocardiogram (ECG), ballistocardiogram (BCG) and weight measures, all in the home without any change in daily habits. We assess the system on data obtained from 22 healthy subjects with measurements taken over an 8-week period, in order to obtain the optimal combination of features, classifiers and enrollment record size. We found the multi-class SVM classifier along with all features extracted from the raw measurements to be the best performing combination. This combination produced an area under curve (AUC) value of 0.86. When tested for its person identification performance, we obtained an average accuracy of 75%. We have therefore demonstrated that the biometric capacities of the FIT seat shows a strong potential for deployment in real-life, multi-user, in-home settings.","PeriodicalId":409205,"journal":{"name":"2018 IEEE 9th International Conference on Biometrics Theory, Applications and Systems (BTAS)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130011135","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
