The article aimed to discuss the wide range of applications of salicylic acid, with particular emphasis on its role in the cosmetic industry. Its effects in cosmetology were described in detail, including its use as a chemical peel in beauty salons as well as its role in the treatment of skin diseases and skin lesions. In addition, the potential side effects accompanying chemoexfoliation procedures were described. Salicylic acid is widely used in many kinds of cosmetics. It can be used alone or in combination with other ingredients in complex therapies. It is worth noting that it not only acts as an active ingredient, but also has preservative properties.","PeriodicalId":408488,"journal":{"name":"Aesthetic Cosmetology and Medicine","volume":"122 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123071394","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To induce changes in addition to sunlight, the presence of a photosensitizer is essential. These can be both externally applied and systemically ingested substances: drugs and supplements, plants, cosmetics, essential oils. The article aimed to assess cosmetologists’ knowledge of phototoxic and photoallergic substances. The study was carried out in a group of 103 cosmetologists based on an original questionnaire survey. Statistically significant differences were found in the level of knowledge between those with a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree. The groups also differed in their willingness to expand their knowledge.","PeriodicalId":408488,"journal":{"name":"Aesthetic Cosmetology and Medicine","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122245737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

They are most often used for hair removal, scar leveling, hyperpigmentation, skin revitalization, as well as deleting dilated blood vessels and tattoos. The study aimed to analyze the interest of owners of cosmetology and aesthetic medicine salons, as well as their clients, in laser treatments used for excessive hair removal and skin revitalization. The study consisted of an anonymous survey of owners and employees of clinics where aesthetic treatments are performed. The most common laser used is the diode laser, operated by cosmetologists, mainly for excessive hair removal, and less frequently for skin revitalization.","PeriodicalId":408488,"journal":{"name":"Aesthetic Cosmetology and Medicine","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115881409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Based on a survey, this study aimed to estimate the population of people struggling with cellulite. As the aetiopathogenesis of cellulite is complex (hormones, genetic factors, physical activity, diet), the respondents’ lifestyles and their influence on the development of skin lesions were also analysed.The public’s knowledge of the characteristics of cellulite and its prevention is quite high but needs to be further improved. In the treatment of cellulite, regularity and a holistic approach including the use of cosmetic procedures supported by an appropriate diet and lifestyle are crucial.","PeriodicalId":408488,"journal":{"name":"Aesthetic Cosmetology and Medicine","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120953112","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such a feature provides several possibilities related to the transport and delivery of biologically active substances to the specific cells in organisms. It is now becoming more and more popular to modify lipid carrier shells to achieve higher specificity and efficiency of transport into cells, and to reduce immunogenicity. The article aimed to present the properties, characteristics and application of liposomes modified with polyethylene glycol (PEG). The most common modification is a coating of liposomes with PEG, then sterically stabilized PEGylated vesicles are formed. PEGylation is currently a pillar of liposomal technologies due to the high efficiency of this type of nanocarrier and the possibility of attaching ligands to polymer chains. This article presents the characteristics of liposomes as carriers of substances, their structures, and types of cell interactions with a special emphasis on PEGylated liposomes.","PeriodicalId":408488,"journal":{"name":"Aesthetic Cosmetology and Medicine","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134621045","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
