In this paper, we present a new naming proposal that we call Service-Aware Naming Architecture (SANA). Our solution is built around three key points. First, we challenge the traditional Identifier/Locator split paradigm by getting rid of terminals' identifiers and promoting users and services identification. Second, we provide a transparent multi-device support to the network. And finally, we make user's session switching between different terminals agnostic to applications and networks.","PeriodicalId":408446,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115852006","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A hybrid network for simultaneous use of different access and backbone technologies is favorable to minimize installation costs and to maximize throughput, availability and user experience. In further developing strategies and implementations for hybrid networks, future requirements — not only of pure communication — should be taken into account as well as communication for control reasons and market balancing as in smart grids. There is no sense in installing even more different communication infrastructure in parallel if we can fulfill the requirements with a flexible implementation of hybrid networks. In this paper we try to highlight several issues in hybrid networks as reliability, latency, security, and interworking and show possible methods of solutions and their interaction.","PeriodicalId":408446,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129500740","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This component is part of a large electric power generating system. In order to perform this task, multiple modeling tools are integrated, including Computational Fluid Dynamics, Finite Element Analysis, Stress-life method, and Latin Hypercube Sampling. As a result of the stochastic nature of the input parameters, the resulted life is in the form of a Probability Density Function, which enables the calculation of the reliability of the component at a given life. The application of this method to the air joint can be used to enhance the design and operation of the component by uncovering under-design or over-design. Furthermore, various alternative designs and operational scenarios can be studies using this stochastic model.","PeriodicalId":408446,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129691162","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The problem is formulated by expanding the various fields in terms of appropriate angular and radial Mathieu functions and a set of expansion coefficients. The expansion coefficients associated with the incident fields are known, where those associated with the fields inside and outside the coating are unknown. Imposing the boundary conditions at the surface of the elliptic cylinder and the surface of the coating leads to determination of the unknown expansion coefficients. Results are presented for the normalized scattering widths of elliptic cylinders with various sizes, PEMC admittances and different coatings, to show the effects of these on scattering.","PeriodicalId":408446,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116689418","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve compactness, the uniform transmission lines of the conventional WPD are substituted by their equivalent NTLs. Two extra compact NTLs transformers are incorporated in each arm of the divider for output ports matching purposes. To prove the validity of the design procedure, the proposed divider is simulated using full-wave simulators, fabricated and tested. Both simulation and measurement results are in good agreement. Using NTLs, a size reduction of 22.2% is achieved, besides odd harmonics suppression.","PeriodicalId":408446,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123285305","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This willingness to cooperate provides a solid basis which is needed for a collaborative human-computer dialogue. This paper investigates how the intelligibility of a technical system can be upheld by providing explanations to the user. We show that the content of an explanation and the decision when to provide it should not be based solely on a user's knowledge level. We conclude that several input factors should be taken into account for this decision and that especially the concept of human-computer trust has to be considered. Finally we present our approach of a modular architecture for an intelligent system being able to provide explanations.","PeriodicalId":408446,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125397611","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many systems have been created to provide such services which make them popular and needed more than ever before. In this paper a “GPS vehicle tracking system” is proposed. This system is useful for fleet operators in monitoring driving behavior of employees or parents monitoring their teen drivers. Moreover, this system can be used in theft prevention as a retrieval device in addition of working as a security system combined with car alarms. The main contribution of this paper is providing two types of end user applications, a web application and a mobile application. This way the proposed system provides a ubiquitous vehicle tracking system with maximum accessibility for the user anytime and anywhere. The system's tracking services includes acquiring the location and ground speed of a given vehicle in the current moment or on any previous date. It also monitors the vehicle by setting speed and geographical limits and therefore receiving SMS alerts when the vehicle exceeds these pre-defined limits. Additionally, all the movements and stops of a given vehicle can also be monitored. Tracking vehicles in our system uses a wide range of new technologies and communication networks including General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM), the Internet or the World Wide Web and Global Positioning System (GPS).","PeriodicalId":408446,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128236010","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper presents a fast and precise method of contingency ranking for effective power system security analysis. The method proposed in this research work takes due consideration of both apparent power overloading and voltage violations at the same time. A comparative analysis of previous methods is also presented in this paper. The proposed method has been applied to a 10 bus benchmark power system and results are verified with actual number of violations in each contingency. The proposed technique is based on realistic approach taking practical situations into account. Besides taking real situations into consideration the proposed method is fast enough to be considered for on-line security analysis.","PeriodicalId":408446,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Jordan Conference on Applied Electrical Engineering and Computing Technologies (AEECT)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131112259","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
