Along with the movement of environmental concerns, the hotel industry also continuously put an interest in environmental performance programs. The adoption of environmental performance programs in Malaysia's hotel industry is not widespread regardless of the success of several international hotel groups. Therefore, it is important to identify the environmental performance programs in the hotel industry by providing fresh insights and empirical evidence of the actual environmental performance programs that have been practicing in Malaysia. This study involved the participation of 206 respondents. The main finding is the environmental performance programs in Malaysia's hotel industry can be classified as four categories: energy saving, green sourcing, resource conservation, and water management and conservation. This result indicates that in Malaysia, the hotel industry performs four types of environmental performance programs and other countries such as Mexico and Turkey also carry out the same environmental performance activities as implemented in Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":407354,"journal":{"name":"Sains Humanika","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129210057","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the elements identified to distinguish the quality of a learning object repository is the interface usability. Usability is critical for the success of an application to help users achieve their objectives. Based on previous studies, very few researches have been conducted to highlight problems in the usability of LORs. In addition, the current LOR interfaces did not help facilitate users to achieve the objectives of their assignments. Hence, a comprehensive heuristic study on interface usability was conducted on three chosen LORs in order to identify the basic functions that must exist in the LOR interface, to develop an interface prototype to be used as a model reflecting the heuristic results, and to perform tests on the interface prototype developed. The methodology of this study involves three phases: planning, execution, and development. In the execution phase, the severity ratings for the LOR interfaces were identified by Nielsen Evaluation. The prototype was tested to ensure that the usability principles were adhered.","PeriodicalId":407354,"journal":{"name":"Sains Humanika","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127378470","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there are many existing issues in the management and development of waqf nowadays that inhibit the benefits of development to be enjoyed by the society. The Perak Ar-Ridzuan Waqf (WPAR) was established in 2015 with the aim to manage the development of waqf in Perak efficiently. Nevertheless, the issue of funding shortage to expedite the development has been the key issue. Therefore, this study purposively to identify the level of awareness of the Muslim community in the state of Perak regarding WPAR from the aspects of establishment, development planning, waqf method and others. This study employs the quantitative method through the use of questionnaire forms as the instrument to obtain the data that contains two sections in which the part A is for respondents' profile and the part B is specifically for respondents' knowledge on WPAR. A total of 312 respondents were involved in this study. Analysis of descriptive and crosstab were applied to analyze the gathered data. The finding of the study shows that the level of knowledge among the Muslim community pertaining WPAR in the planned development projects, waqf method and matching donation incentive prepared by the Maybank Islamic were unknown by the majority of respondents. Similar situations occured among respondents who are and had served as the mosque committees. The implication of this study proves that the existence of WPAR is still less known to the Muslim community in Perak. This condition needs a serious attention from the authority to ensure that the establishment of WPAR is able to attain its goal and realize all waqf development projects according to the allocated funding and time.","PeriodicalId":407354,"journal":{"name":"Sains Humanika","volume":"52 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120821713","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Survey has been administrated to 80 students from the executive programme at the Faculty of Education, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in which they have taken academic writing as the compulsory subject of the abovesaid programme. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive analysis and inference in order to determine the effectiveness of M-learning via heutagogy approach. Result shows that M-learning will increase the heutagogy approach’s element particularly the sharing and connectivity elements. These two elements display highest mean as compared to the other elements. Apart from that, correlation result confirms that heutagogy approach and the students’ response towards technology havepositive relationships which are interconnected between each other. This research will give an implication to the other researcher about heutagogy approachwhich has yet to be fully discovered. Besides that, this research will be beneficial to the public due to the fact that, nowadays, lifelong learning may no longer be conducted via face to face approach, but it can be applied anywhere and anytime via online. The objective of the study was to examine the influence of emotional and social support on the intergenerational relationship in the elderly care. There are 200 questionnaires that can be used from 250 respondents consisting of young adults who play the role of guardians of the elderly. Three sets of questionnaires were used in this study: the Parent-Child Interaction Questionnaire-Revised (PACHIQ-R) (Lange, 2001) questionnaire was adapted in this study is the current version of the results of the modification from the First Phase version of The Parent- Child Interaction Questionnaire (PACHIQ) (Lange, Blonk & Wiers, 1998) to measure the intergeneration relationship. Next, The Emotional Support Scale questionnaire (ESS) developed by Hisada, Seng and Minoguchi (1989) was used to measure psychological support whereas Social Support Questionnaire (SSQ) by Sarason, Levine, Basham (1983) for measuring social support. Regression analysis from SPSS software was used to analysis the influence between variables. Studies show that emotional support contributes to the intergenerational relationship. Social support contributes 27 percent to variance in intergenerational relationships. While the combination of two forms of social and emotional support contributes 40 percent variance to the intergenerational relationship, an increase of 13 percent. This finding shows that both forms of support can help improve intergenerational relationships between children acting as guardians with older parents. The implication of this study suggests that there is a need to develop a policy module based on the National Elderly Policy (DWEN) which needs to be done in holistic and integrated national action plans to ensure the welfare of the guardians as well as the elderly.","PeriodicalId":407354,"journal":{"name":"Sains Humanika","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114903729","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Hadrah performance is a form of public entertainment that is still widely welcomed. The performances are still being presented at weddings as well as in other occasions. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the implicit meaning behind the performance of Hadrah through the ethnography communication approach of S.P.E.A.K.I.N.G (for setting and scene, participants, ends, acts sequence, key, instrumentalities, norms, & genre) by Hymes (1972) as well as to exhibit other cultural elements that permeate in the performances of the state in Sarawak such as involve elements of metapragmatic, language and community as well as metaphors and languages that should not run in a performance. The data collection was carried out through two methods: library research and field research. The study found out that the performance of the Hadrah is not only a feature to entertain guests but rather implicitly because the selection of songs in the performance complements the aspects of advice and irony that should guide listeners especially newly married couples.","PeriodicalId":407354,"journal":{"name":"Sains Humanika","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-04-30","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117240228","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As claimed by the Islamic Shari’a, when performing prayers, the qibla direction must be accurate towards the Kaaba. This claim is not an issue for Muslims living near Mecca but for Muslims living in distant countries from the Mecca, the qibla direction accuracy is a problem that requires immediate settlement decision. Geographically, Malaysia is located 5000 km away from the Mecca, and if the qibla direction deflected for only one degree, it will stray up to 180 km from the Kaaba. The objective of this study is to examine and compare the accuracy of smartphones, theodolites and the istiwa’ sticks during the istiwa’ a’dzam phenomenon because it is the best method of revision to obtain the accurate qibla direction. In this study, istiwa’ a’dzam observations have been conducted at Kuala Lumpur Islamic Center Complex on July 16th 2016 at 5:28 pm.
