However, the ability of fGn is limited for modeling the stochastic processes with prescribed local forms. Therefore, the multifractional Gaussian noise (mGn) with local Hölder exponent which varies with a variable t (usually time), become more important both in theory and in practical applications. In this paper, by studying the relationship of white Gaussian noise (wGn), mGn and multifractional Brownian motion (mBm), a synthesis method which is based on variable-order fractional operators for synthesizing mGn is provided. Furthermore, the synthesis method of multifractional α-stable processes, the generalization of mGn, is proposed in the paper in order to more accurately characterize the processes with local scaling characteristic and heavy tailed distribution. Some synthetic examples of mGn and multifractional α-stable noises are provided in the paper.","PeriodicalId":406358,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122466088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

With the need for an optimal synergetic integration of the involved disciplines, the engineering process of mechatronic systems is faced with an increasing complexity and the interdisciplinary nature of these systems. New methods and techniques have to be developed to deal with these challenges. This document presents an approach of a SysML-based integration framework that shall deal with the complexity and bring the different disciplines together for a better cooperation and collaboration. Therefore, SysML shall be used for the overall interdisciplinary system design and simultaniously act as a link between the heterogenous model data of the discipline specific tools.","PeriodicalId":406358,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120951103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each mobile monitoring agent is a damage diagnosis program which can recognize certain type of damage. To achieve effective damage detection and prolong the lifetime of a monitoring network, this paper studies energy-aware distribution of mobile monitoring agents using Genetic Algorithm (GA). The goal of the GA-based algorithm is to distribute monitoring agents to sensor nodes where sensor feature vectors have high affinities with memory cells of a monitoring agent and the remaining battery capacity of the sensor node is above a predefined threshold. With this distribution strategy, the system is able to send certain type of monitoring agents to the site where they are needed. When there are more than one sensor nodes in the suspicious region, the sensor node with high remaining battery capacity will have higher priority to receive a mobile monitoring agent. This distribution scheme makes the remaining battery capacity of sensor nodes in the network more balanced so that the lifetime of the monitoring network is extended.","PeriodicalId":406358,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Mechatronic and Embedded Systems and Applications","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124742874","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Previously the author has proposed data-based state feedback model (DBSFM) concept whose structure is based on the controlled system but the parameters can be identified from experimental data by using the frequency domain approach. This paper proposes a discrete version of DBSFM (DDBSFM) whose parameters can be effectively identified in the time domain using the gradient-based optimization algorithms.
