Currently, due to exceeding the traffic capacity of the capital’s ring road, the only possibility to travel North - South or East - West is through the city centre. The public transport network in the city of Bucharest lacks lanes dedicated to public transport, the lack of an extensive network of adaptive traffic lights and traffic lights that give priority to public transport. Also, the high degree of vehicle loading of the street network leads to a low level of service both in the morning peak hour and in the afternoon rush hour, leading to low transport speeds of surface public transport. In this article, the possibilities of introducing dedicated public transport lanes in the city of Bucharest are identified, quantifying the reduction in travel times. In addition, some technical solutions regarding the necessary infrastructure for the introduction of lanes dedicated to public transport vehicles and possible traffic regulation measures are presented.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135851596","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study was carried out on three distinct locations, all three road bridges had steel expansion joints, the first one had asphalt covering the joints, the second one was in excellent condition, as it was a newly refurbished bridge and the last one with visible signs of degradations. After a full spectrum noise analysis, the results showed that good maintenance and quality control on the installation of expansion joints are necessary, not only to lower noise levels but to also provide a solid and sealed transition to the bridge deck.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135851810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But, despite other studies, temperature and relative humidity are considered as moderating variable. The concentration of particulate matter is also influenced by local geography, urban structure, and streets shape. The case study was done in Bucharest, in an open area. The PM 2.5 air concentration time series is proved stationary, an autoregressive model with two lags being tested. While the main effects of road traffic and humidity are significant, temperature has not a significant direct effect. But both moderators show interactive effects. The conditional effects are getting down with increase in temperature and humidity, due to changes in air dynamics and precipitation phenomena.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135851805","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we estimate the impact of remittances on exports after controlling economic growth. By panel dynamic panel estimation, when regressing remittances on exports, remittances show an inverse U-shaped relationship with a threshold value of ln(12.63) for high-income and ln(15.66) middle-income countries above which exports begin to rise. Economic growth is showing a positive and significant impact on exports. Second, we estimate the impact of remittances and exports on economic growth after controlling various macro determinants of economic growth. On economic growth, remittances present a U-shaped relationship with threshold value ln (12.63) for higher income and ln(15.66) for lower-income countries above which economic growth starts to decline. Exports are showing a positive and significant effect on economic growth. A 100% increase in exports leads to a 15% and 12% increase in exports of high-income and middle-income countries. The other variables like physical capital per labour and human capital are showing a positive and significant impact on economic growth. Government expenditure has a negative coefficient, thus, it deteriorates economic growth.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135851593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Through the application of innovative technologies, which allow the anticipation and control of road traffic, traffic jams are avoided, this leads to an increase in the quality of life. In this article, a case study was analyzed, in which an artificial neural network was implemented within a traffic model, with the help of which predictions were made on traffic light times. The results obtained are satisfactory, and are highlighted by the performance parameters exported from the traffic models.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135851589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The main disadvantage of this solution is due to the relative positions of these devices along the cable, which are very close to the edge, in a zone where their influence on the cable is minimal. This paper presents a different way of using these devices, by fixing them between adjacent cables. This eliminates the disadvantage presented in the previous paragraph and the efficiency of the device is expected to increase greatly. The paper presents parametric variations of the viscosity of such a device in different scenarios of their positioning along the cables, also correlated with the influence on the cable system’s dynamic response.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44455803","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The project aims to evaluate the effects of alternative additive materials in soil stabilization contexts for road construction. The alternative binders (slag, energy ash and bio ash as new alternative road construction material) have been used to complement the traditional binders (cement and lime). The project used five binders and evaluated their effects on soil strength. The proposed method comprises advantages of using the alternative binders which are the residual products contributing to a lower environmental impact. The results have shown that only slag has significant effects on the strength of the stabilized soil, while bio ash and energy ash make a marginal contribution to the increase of strength. This is caused by the twofold reasons. First, the effects of the amount of ashes that should reach a certain threshold with respect to the total amount of binder that must be exceeded to have the effect of the soil mixture. Second, the bio fly ash was stored and it was not completely fresh which may have contributed to the carbonation during the storage period and results in a lower hardening ability. Based on the results of the study we recommend the use of bio fly ash as a supply material andfor its amount to be adjusted so the storage period is not too long. This study verified the effects of slag, cement and lime on stabilization of soil for road construction.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43894553","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Rice husks, maize cobs and coconut shells were individually used to prepare activated carbon under the same experimental conditions of 500OC carbonization temperature, impregnation ratio of 10:1 under 1hr activation time using chemical activation method with zncl2 as the activation agent. After being subjected to carbonization and chemical activation, the farm residues were examined for their surface areas, PHs, conductivities, specific gravities, bulk densities and moisture contents. Elemental composition of each of the waste at carbonized stage, when chemically activated, when used to trap air pollutants and when reactivated were also determined. The adsorptive capacities of these activated carbons were investigated and compared by loading each of them in an adsorption column of 1.5m tall, 0.98m diameter with four openings at height 0m (input), 0.5m, 1.0m, 1.5m (output). A 0.85kva generator was connected to the column and the concentrations of some selected primary pollutants (HC, CO, CO2 NOX) were determined at the input was analyzed and compared to the concentrations at different heights in the column, as the fumes passed through. Optimization studies were also carried out to investigate the adsorptive efficacies of blends of the activated carbons, at different ratios and proportions. When the three activated carbons were mixed at same ratio and proportion, the adsorptive capacity was found to be less than when compared to the efficiencies of the individual activated carbons. Activated carbon produced from coconut shells was experimentally found to have the highest adsorptive capacity followed by that produced from maize cobs and rice husks. The adsorptive capacity was experimentally found to be dependent on adsorbate dosage, contact time and concentration of the adsorbate. CO and CO2 were found to be easily absorbed by all the three activated carbons. Some recommendations have been made.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46591003","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That’s why the most important thing to consider in tunnel construction works is to monitor rock mass behavior. The finite element method (FEM) can also analytically represent the static and dynamic behavior of the rock mass. Concretely, this makes it possible to calculate the behavior of very complex objects numerically. The present study embraces a geophysical prospecting which was carried out by the method of surface seismic tomography to reveal the lithology of the different formations and their geometry and the variation in speed of the subsurface formations at the level of the South portal of the Texana tunnel on Jijel province, in Algeria. The paper also consists in making a two-dimensional numerical study of the stability of the tunnel portals with the Phase.2 2D program. On the other hand, the calculation results will be compared with in-situ surveying to strengthen the numerical modeling. It can be concluded that the Anchor Bolts Support System gives good results in terms of displacement of the rock mass and satisfactory stability in terms of collapse analyzis of the tunnel portals.","PeriodicalId":40630,"journal":{"name":"Romanian Journal of Transport Infrastructure","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2022-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"46939759","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
