Uno de los mecanismos que se ensaya en los procesos de gestion de la diversidad cultural es el de las practicas de armonizacion, entre las que se encuentran los ajustes concertados y los acomodos razonables. Estos ultimos se justifican sobre la base del reconocimiento de la igualdad en la diferencia, pero tambien se pueden fundamentar en una idea de libertad como no dominacion que atienda la desigualdad en las relaciones de poder.","PeriodicalId":40606,"journal":{"name":"Foro Interno-Anuario de Teoria Politica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2015-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.5209/REV_FOIN.2015.V15.50378","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70754134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Three centuries later and in a context of very different concerns, Mill presented systematic antagonism as the main device by which stability and progress can be reconciled and freedom can be ensured within democratic societies. This article examines the way in which both thinkers theorized the nature of conflict, its limits as well as its effects, and finally, the areas in which they can or should be channeled.","PeriodicalId":40606,"journal":{"name":"Foro Interno-Anuario de Teoria Politica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2015-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.5209/REV_FOIN.2015.V15.50379","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70754149","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Specifically, it states that the current gap between formal and effective equality should be addressed using a transformative approach to patterns of socioeconomic, cultural and personal relations. To do so, it is crucial to deal with two issues: the necessity to conjoin equality with freedom and pluralism, understood as interdependent values; and secondly, to conceive equality as a universal and ethical referent. In this sense, the article proposes the use of a musical formula, the enharmonic principle, as perhaps the best metaphor to understand the idea and practice of equality in contemporary societies.","PeriodicalId":40606,"journal":{"name":"Foro Interno-Anuario de Teoria Politica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2015-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70754214","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nonetheless, every reader of Lefort is certainly aware of his respect for Strauss’s reading of Machiavelli and for the Straussian insights into modern political thought. It is a process that requires the concurrence of other viewpoints, fragmentary and diverse, the incorporation of which ensures the objectivity of knowledge and respects the richness of what it is real. Knowledge requires habits of coexistence and communication that establish a common space for equality and plurality in exchanges. Michel de Montaigne, in the troubled sixteenth century, celebrated the pleasure of discussion and exhorted people to travel as a form of avoiding personal pride and increasing their being through the encounter. A loyal search for truth in conjunction with courtesy in controversy would entail the promotion of civic virtues beyond mere tolerance and bring about attitudes of mutual interest, cordiality, dialogue, inclusion and care for that which is common.","PeriodicalId":40606,"journal":{"name":"Foro Interno-Anuario de Teoria Politica","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.1,"publicationDate":"2015-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://sci-hub-pdf.com/10.5209/rev_FOIN.2015.v15.50382","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70754232","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
