This study examines the relationship, if any, between political culture and high incidence of poverty in Nigeria. The study employed a stratified sampling procedure along with questionnaires for data collection. Data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings suggest that political culture plays a critical role in the social and economic development of Nigeria. Additionally, religious and ethnic biases, as well as the political entrepreneurship of godfathers have contributed to poor electoral choices that in turn exacerbate the deteriorating standards of living, limited employment opportunities, endemic poverty, and insecurity in Nigeria. The study recommends among others that politics based on ideology should be encouraged rather than an identity-based politics on the grounds of religion or ethnicity.","PeriodicalId":405920,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Social Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115470539","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This was undertaken given that countries in the region require output growth, but are pursuing different monetary policy regimes and are yet to witness adequate output growth. So this set the objective of the study. The study made use of a longitudinal research design that obtained cross-section data from the secondary sources of the Central Banks of the selected countries, the World Bank Development Indicator, the International Monetary Fund as well as the International Financial Statistics database for the period from 2000 to 2021. The data analysis method involved using both descriptive and inferential statistics. The Panel Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) using a Pooled Mean Group (PMG) regression was used for the estimation. The results obtained indicate that the monetary policy rate was only effective in the short run to exert a significant effect on output growth, while the money supply was significant in both the short run and long run. So, the study makes the following recommendations; money supply is an effective tool for achieving output growth and this should be effectively managed to curb inflationary trends that may arise as a result of increased money supply in order not to reverse economic growth. Monetary authorities should promote activities in all sectors of the economy, particularly in the high-growth sectors. There should be cooperation between the monetary and fiscal authorities in West Africa to ensure smooth coordination and consistency in monetary and fiscal pursuits.","PeriodicalId":405920,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Social Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-08-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131435846","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

From the study, entrepreneurship mind-set is not rooted on some paradigm shift as there are major concentrations on the evaluation of sales volume, employees’ size and profitability as they relate to MSME growth in Nigeria. The study conducted used a survey method while adopting stratified sampling technique. The sample size of 218 is obtained from the 480 MSME owners’ resident in AMAC-FCT using the Taro Yamani formula. The study righty adopts correlation test to examine the linear relationship while regression analysis is used reporting coefficients with P-value at 0.05 significance. The findings divulged that entrepreneurial mind-set influences sales volume, employees’ size and profitability as an improvement on entrepreneurial mind-set will bring an outstanding improvement on the MSME’s characteristics. The study appreciably recommends more investment be made on building entrepreneurial mind-set, more collaborations between the stakeholders and MSME entrepreneurs so as to increase data on improving entrepreneurial mind-set finally set up of regulatory guidelines on entrepreneurial mind-set applicable to those in professional institutions.","PeriodicalId":405920,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Social Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126704237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The impact of CPS on Gross Domestic Product Growth (GDPG) was examined using series data and the ordinary least squares technique. Credit to the private sector, lending rate, and deposit money bank's assets were used as independent variables. The series' data were taken from the World Bank Indicators 2021 and the Central Bank of Nigeria's Statistical Bulletin 2021. The analysis's findings indicate that all of the variables, including Gross Domestic Product (GDPG), CPS, INTR, and DMBA, were stationary at 1st difference. The analysis discovered that the variables are cointegrated, which means they have a long-run link, even though interest rate was statistically proven to have a negative impact on economic growth. As a result, the study advises policymakers to adopt measures that will direct more money into the economy's productive sectors, and banks should act as effective financial intermediaries so that financial resources are allocated to the most productive uses in order to boost economic growth in Nigeria.","PeriodicalId":405920,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Social Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115855246","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Agricultural sector contribution to GDP was used to define agricultural output, while the agricultural financing was defined by commercial bank credit to the agricultural sector. The study employed real interest rate and inflation rate as control variables. The time span under study was 40 years which dated from 1981-2020 using annual secondary data, Data on agricultural output and  commercial bank agricultural financing, were obtained from the Nigerian central bank annual statistical bulletin(CBN) whereas interest rate and inflation rate were obtained from united nation conference on trade and development (UNCTAD). The Autoregressive Distribution Lag (ARDL) was adopted due to its efficiency, robustness and dynamic nature in time series analysis. It was discovered the explanatory variables under study only have a long run relationship with the explained variable. Specifically, commercial bank agricultural financing rate has a positive and substantial impact on agricultural output whereas real interest rate and inflation rate have a negative and insignificant relationship with agricultural output in the long run. The study recommends that reliable sources of agricultural financing should be developed and policies aimed at boosting allocation of credit to agricultural sector should be created and implemented correctly so as to increase agricultural output.","PeriodicalId":405920,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Social Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125864681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study is also limited to the staff of the small-scale business, in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria. The independent variable in this study is government policy measured by entrepreneurship policy interventions and monetary policy while the dependent variable is entrepreneurship growth and development. The primary data methodology was adopted through the aid of a well-structured questionnaire. Meanwhile, Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficient was used to analyze the sourced data from the field. Although 291 questionnaires were shared with the core medical personnel, health workers, and others, only 272 questionnaires were returned and used to run the analysis. The study revealed that entrepreneurship policy intervention and monetary policy are positively related to entrepreneurship growth and development. and that such a relationship is strong and statistically significant.  Hence, the study concludes that Entrepreneurship is an important driving force of business growth. Therefore, government policy forms an institutional environment in which entrepreneurial decision-making takes place. Therefore, government policy can be said to be important for entrepreneurship. For this reason, various researchers studied the relationship between government policy and entrepreneurship. Therefore, policymakers have responded to the growing importance of entrepreneurship. The historical method of data collection involving a systematic and critical analysis of secondary data was adopted for the study. The findings indicated amongst other things that while the amnesty programme has succeeded in reducing youth restiveness in the Niger Delta Region, the general state of underdevelopment, environmental degradation, poor infrastructure, lack of sustainable employment still constitute visible features of the Niger Delta Region. The study further noted that the amnesty programme has been inundated by corruption, political manipulation/interference, poor monitoring and evaluation of the programme, delay in payment of stipends to ex combatants, lack of meaningful economic engagement activities for trained ex militants amongst others. Based on these findings, the following recommendations were outlined: there is need for transparency in the implementation of the programme, proper monitoring and evaluation of the programme, proper engagement in meaningful economic activities should also be made a priority. Furthermore, focus should be given to agricultural entrepreneurship and local communities should work with the Amnesty Programme to determine their unique development needs and objectives.","PeriodicalId":405920,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Social Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123164439","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study's relevance stemmed from the program's ability to remain on the news despite its candid and unvarnished examination of political issues in a nation where the Government has used intimidation and censorship against the media. The study used the agenda-setting theory and drew on scholars' understanding of the importance of broadcast media in maintaining long-term democracy and the use of broadcasting to promote the ideas of accountability, integrity, honesty, justice, and equality in the polity. The theory advances the notion that the media can effectively influence public opinion and present arguments for the kinds of innovations that proliferate in a country. This research used a survey as its primary data collection tool and a cross-sectional design. The average findings demonstrate that the Nigerian political class and electorates are aware of the AIT Focus Nigeria program, with coefficients of variations for awareness among observed cities to be 9.47%, 11.67%, and 13.59. The program has a favorable impact on the cities used, with C.V. values of 4.68%, 4.73%, and 7.81%. More than two-thirds of the respondents thought the initiative was worthwhile to continue. The research urges the opening of more channels for audience participation in the program.","PeriodicalId":405920,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Global Social Sciences","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-05-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131302957","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
