We are aiming to reconfirm the advantages of handwriting in communications from a viewpoint of a concept “Fubeneki” which denotes some sort of benefit such as an opportunity of discovery and joy under the inconvenience. For that purpose, we built a client-server based experiment system in which users can communicate with each other either by text-chat or handwriting chat, and conducted subject experiments to investigate difference in quality of communications with between text chat and handwriting chat. Results of the questionnaire about the difference between text- and handwriting chats which we asked the subjects to answer showed that more than 70% of them feel sense of reassurance and warmth in handwriting.","PeriodicalId":405766,"journal":{"name":"Annual Conference of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers of Japan","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125751335","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

First, we did texture analysis on images of human skin to find out the features which produce the biggest marked difference in the texture condition between a cheek and a back of a chin. Second, we made an evaluation system which can express how much texture condition of a cheek is different from that of a back of a chin focused on the number of cristae cutis. Our proposed analysis system can automatically estimate human skin surface condition based on subjective evaluation from our various skin images.","PeriodicalId":405766,"journal":{"name":"Annual Conference of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers of Japan","volume":"46 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125777659","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

DSSAT is used as a simulation engine that calculates expected yield for different weather, climate and agronomic scenarios. The system is called as Tomorrow's Wheat (TMW). Daily agro-weather data generated by NIAES [6] from AMeDAS data [7] in Japan are collected and stored in a cloud sensor infrastructure named cloudSense. The cloudSense provides historical weather data, which are minimum temperature, maximum temperature, precipitation and solar radiation, via Sensor Observation Service (SOS) interface defined as OGC's standard API. The historical weather data is seamlessly connected to a weather generator for generating 100 weather scenarios via SOS interface in order to reflect the uncertainty in weather scenario into expected yield. Users can set other factor of scenarios by giving a planting date, a variety of wheat and soil characteristics from an interactive web user interface. The result of the crop simulation is expected wheat yield distributions shown as box-plots for five different planting dates. It supports decision making of farmers to set the best planting time window to optimize yield, its stability and minimize the risk. Tomorrow's Wheat presents the advantage of standard API for securing interoperability in connecting weather data to crop simulation. The simulation system can be connected to any weather data source that has SOS API. Each process in this system will be further transformed as a layered-web service so that other developer will be able to utilize or replace functionalities easily.","PeriodicalId":405766,"journal":{"name":"Annual Conference of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers of Japan","volume":"62 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127235536","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Optimized topologies and high-efficiency converters are necessary as the power interface of SC bank for different applications. In this paper, the converter prototype with three-level (TL) topology is applied as SC power interface, which is designed to link low-voltage DC bus with bidirectional high current output ability for electric vehicles (EV) application. The comparative analysis of components size and converter loss is made based on the experiments among different converter topologies, which shows the effectiveness of three-level converter in our application. The control principle and action modes of three-level converter are introduced. Two aspects of converter control design, the response of output current control loop and the voltage balance between the two SC banks in three-level topology, will be considered in the following step.","PeriodicalId":405766,"journal":{"name":"Annual Conference of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers of Japan","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-07-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125853414","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
