Three research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted descriptive survey research design. The entire population of 109 security guards in tertiary institution in Rivers State was studied without sampling. A structured questionnaire validated by experts was used for data collection. Cronbach Alpha reliability method was used to establish the internal consistency of the items which yielded an overall coefficient of 0.79. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while ANOVA was used to test the hypotheses at .05 level of significance. Findings revealed that security guards agreed that solar powered security lights, camera and alarm system are effective strategies for the protection of electrical installations in tertiary institutions in Rivers State and year of experience did not significantly influence there opinion. It concluded that the adoption of these strategies will provide effective protection of electrical installations. The study recommended among others that, Management of tertiary institutions should be encourage to install solar powered security lights, cameras and alarm system in all critical electrical installations in their institutions.","PeriodicalId":405605,"journal":{"name":"WORLD JOURNAL OF INNOVATION AND MODERN TECHNOLOGY","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131935356","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research examines tenders submitted by contractors with a view to assessing several of the factors that are critical and predominant in the success equation towards winning jobs. The Research also assesses the factors that influence contractors’ tenders as well as the challenges faced in the course of submitting tenders. Using both primary and secondary data sources, the research obtains data on several of the factors that impact on tenders. The statistical technique of central tendency was used for the analysis of the factors which impact on tenders. Research findings reveals as follows: Financial stability of contractor, availability of resources size of construction firm, work experience of construction firm, professional affiliation of contractors are significant variables that impact on tenders. The listed variables recorded values that were between 4.00 and 2.76. The research concludes that financial stability of the contractors with a mean score of 4.00 is the highest ranked factor whilst number of competitors with a mean score of 2.76 is ranked the least factor affecting contractors tender. The research recommends that contractors’ financial stability is a critical factor for consideration during the evaluation of tenders to be submitted by contractors and subsequently the award.","PeriodicalId":405605,"journal":{"name":"WORLD JOURNAL OF INNOVATION AND MODERN TECHNOLOGY","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-05","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114769263","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Data used for the study were obtained using pro forma method of data collection for both cost of scaffolding and preliminaries for all the fifty (50) multi-storey building projects studied. The use of both descriptive and inferential statistics was adopted to analyze the collected data. Percentage was used for the descriptive analysis while hierarchical multiple regression analysis was used for the inferential analysis and development of predictive models. It was discovered from the analysis that cost of scaffolding carries a significant proportion from total cost of preliminaries and a positive, strong and significant relationship exists between the cost of scaffolding and the total cost of preliminaries in multi-storey building projects. The respective strong value of coefficients of correlation and determination observed ranges from 76% – 80% and 59% – 62%. The degree of association between the cost of scaffolding and total cost of preliminaries and that between the cost of scaffolding and total cost of construction were also respectively found to be strong. The coefficient of correlation ranges from 75% to 80%. All the three predictive regression models formulated were discovered to be suitable for predicting the cost of scaffolding with the use of the total cost of preliminaries and total construction cost at 95% confidence limit. It was suggested that consultants and contractors should ensure that cost of scaffolding is measured in detail at the pre-contract stage and that larger project samples should be used in further studies to formulate better predictive models for cost of scaffolding","PeriodicalId":405605,"journal":{"name":"WORLD JOURNAL OF INNOVATION AND MODERN TECHNOLOGY","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124994568","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Survey research design was adopted for the study. Two research questions and two research hypotheses were raised to guide this study. The populations of 402 business education students were used for the study. A structured questionnaire was developed by the researchers and was validated by two experts from test and measurement department and Department of Vocational Education in University of Calabar. The reliability of the instrument was ascertained using Cronbach alpha reliability technique whose coefficient was .89. The academic performance score was collected from the centers of general studies of the university to measure their performance. Data collected were analyzed using population t-test and one way analysis of variance (ANOVA) to test the hypothesis. The result showed that students’ frequency of the use of WhatsApp platforms among business education students in federal collage of education is high and that WhatsApp platform usage significant influence students’ academic performance negatively. Based on this, it was recommended that students should reduce the use of WhatsApp application in class room environment in order to increase their chances of academic performance in College of Education Obudu, Cross River State.","PeriodicalId":405605,"journal":{"name":"WORLD JOURNAL OF INNOVATION AND MODERN TECHNOLOGY","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132635078","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
