{"title":"Towards A Dynamic Model of Human Needs: A Critical Analysis of Maslow's Hierarchy","authors":"Belal Dahiam Saif Ghaleb","doi":"10.59653/ijmars.v2i03.674","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.59653/ijmars.v2i03.674","url":null,"abstract":"This paper critically analyzed Abraham Maslow's well-known hierarchy of needs theory (1943), identified its shortcomings, and examined previous studies in the literature on qualitative research methods. Moreover, it discussed the suitability of the theory to human needs and its scientific nature, considering the qualifications, dynamics, variability, and nature of human needs. Maslow proposed a rigid hierarchical framework, categorizing human needs from physiological to self-actualization. Over time, the theory faced criticism for disregarding scientific principles and overlooking the objective and subjective aspects of human needs. Instead of rigorous scientific research, the theory heavily relied on Maslow's personal observations and clinical experiences. This paper posits that Maslow overlooked socio-cultural influences that shape motivation and emphasizes how social and economic contexts prioritize needs. Moreover, the lack of empirical evidence is identified as a weakness compromising the theory's validity. The article also, proposes an updated framework considering the objectivity and subjectivity of human needs, scientific research principles, technological connections, sustainability, socio-cultural influences, arbitrary human behavior and needs, personal preferences, and emotional factors. It advocates for acknowledging that needs circulate dynamically through interpersonal networks rather than being staged rigidly, thereby supporting theoretical evolution. Additionally, the paper identifies and offers potential solutions to eight fundamental issues associated with the theory. In this study, a literature review was conducted, and Maslow's hierarchy of needs was analyzed and its deficiencies were identified and eliminated. Igor Kospov's model was examined and explained to eliminate its flaws. Finally, instead of Maslow's hierarchy of needs, the article proposes a model or set of clustered needs that are compatible with human needs and scientific, dynamic, interactive, prioritized by humans, and influenced and influenced by culture, technological developments and the human environment. The model, or clustered set of needs, consists of several clusters. These clusters are interconnected and influence each other. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the maternal mortality rate is very high, around 287,000 women died during and after pregnancy and childbirth in 2020. The research aims to determine the effect of the rebozo and birth ball techniques on the length of the active phase in mothers giving birth in primary care. This research is quantitative research with a pre-experimental research design, namely a two-group pre-test-post-test design approach. This research was carried out at the Mandiri Ayu Practical Midwife in 2023. Time of the research was carried out in November 2023 - February 2024. The population in this study was all 2023 primigravida mothers from August-October with a sample of 22 people. The data obtained was normally distributed so we used a parametric test, the dependent T-test. The research results showed that the length of the active phase in the control group without treatment with the Rebozo technique and birth ball in primi mothers was 7.36 with a standard deviation of 0.505 and a std error of 0.152, while in the intervention group given the treatment it was 4.18 with a standard deviation of 0.982 and std error 0.296. The results of statistical tests using the independent t-test with p-value = 0.000 (p≤0.05). The conclusion of the study shows that there are differences between the Rebozo and birth ball techniques the control and intervention groups regarding length of the active phase in primary birth mothers. This concept encourages learners to equip themselves with skills and knowledge through virtual learning environments and advanced technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI). However, to implement EDUC4 effectively and fairly, the role of the state is very important. The state needs to develop supportive policies, invest in technology infrastructure and digital skills training for teachers. Synchronization between policy and practice is a key factor to create a modern, flexible education system that meets the requirements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. In Vietnam, digital transformation in education is institutionalized in documents from the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Education and Training. The national digital transformation program to 2025, with a vision to 2030, has changed teaching methods from traditional to active, improving the quality of education and saving time. The Ministry of Education and Training has built a database to manage detailed information of all schools from preschool to high school, digitized and connected the education sector database with the national database about population. Although many positive results have been achieved, Vietnam still has many limitations in implementing EDUC4, such as difficulties with network infrastructure in remote areas, control of digital learning materials, and legal regulations. Incomplete. A strong effort from the state is needed to overcome these challenges and ensure that all learners have access to modern and effective education. This will have positive impact on climate change and weather. The regressor is overseas investment while the regressed is trade policy measured by trade openness. The study adopted the longitudinal research design. The paper collated data from the World Bank data base, 2021. Specifically, the study sampled 30 SSA countries out of the 48 countries in SSA over the reviewed period of 1992 to 2021. Meanwhile, the study adopted the Robust panel Regression (Panel Corrected Standard Error). The study reported that, FDI inflows has a positive (coefficient value =0.977169) yet significant effect (prob. value = 0.0007<0.05) on trade openness. By implication, FDI inflows are a major predictor of trade openness. In like manner, exchange rate has a positive significant effect on trade openness. However, FPI inflows has a positive (coefficient value = 0.005328) yet insignificant effect (prob. value = 0.7399>0.05). By implication, FPI inflows have direct yet minimal effect on trade openness.  Similarly, high INFR dissuade foreign investors from investing in the economy. On the overall outcomes of the paper conform to cross-country analysis. Hence, the paper concludes that, foreign direct investment is a major overseas investment predictor which causes the SSA economy to be more open to trade. Premised on this, the paper submits that, government agencies and other relevant stakeholders in the SSA economy need to collaborate put in place flexible regulatory laws that guarantee the flows of more foreign direct capital investment into the SSA economy. The study developed a robust economic policy model for African economic policy makers desiring to improve the economic development of their economies through oversea investment inflows and trade openness. The population in this study were energy sector companies totaling 74 companies. The sample of this study was selected using purposive sampling method where the sample was selected based on the criteria set by the researcher and got a sample of 93 samples from 30 companies. This study uses secondary data where the data is obtained from the company's annual and sustainability reports obtained from the company's official website and from the official website of the Indonesia Stock Exchange. The analysis method in this study uses multiple linear regression analysis which is processed using the SPSS version 23.0 for windows program. The results of this study show that carbon emission disclosure is influenced by all variables at the same time. Then the environmental performance variable has a significant effect on the disclosure of carbon emissions. X. The subjects in this research were employees at PT. X, totaling 16 people from the Marketing Division, were divided into two groups. This research uses an experimental method, with the GROW model OCB coaching intervention in the experimental group. Data analysis used a parametric test with the ANOVA mixed design data analysis technique which looked at the effect of treatment on two groups of subjects. The results of this research were an increase in the performance of the experimental group with a significance score of 0.003 < 0.05. Apart from that, looking at the results of the pretest and posttest comparison, it was 71.6% when compared to the control group. This indicates that there is a significant difference between the group that was given the OCB coaching of the GROW model and the group that was not given the same treatment. In line with the result, companies can therefore improve the performance of their employees by performing the OCB coaching of the GROW model. In addition, it is essential that researchers study the factors that helpinfluence the success of the OCB coaching from different dimensions. Thus making the stress level and lower parental self-acceptance. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to analize whether positive parenting training can increase the self-acceptance of parents with special need children in Sorong city. The research method used is an experimental pretest-posttest control group design. The data collection method used the provision of a self-acceptance scale at the time of the pretest and posttest, observation and interviews during the training. Before the training was carried out, the researchers first made a training module along with the pretest and posttest. The results showed that the level of parental acceptance ranged from 6 to 10 Of the 38 participants who participated in the training optimally. Quantitative analyses, including ANOVA, regression, and correlation analyses, were conducted to examine relationships between familiarity with emerging technologies, perceived impact on student engagement, and frequency of integration into teaching practices. Thematic analysis of interview transcripts provided qualitative insights into faculty experiences and perspectives. Findings reveal diverse utilization patterns, with a significant proportion of instructors frequently integrating emerging technologies into their teaching practices. However, challenges such as the lack of technical support and infrastructure emerged as significant barriers to technology integration. The study underscores the critical role of faculty training and professional development programs in effectively leveraging emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning experiences. The study, conducted in the Pelalawan Regency from June to August 2023, employs qualitative research methods with 5 primary informants and 3 supporting informants.  The findings reveal that each informant's role aligns with their respective fields, indicating sufficient budgetary allocations. However, not all patients receive counseling about JKN. Regarding content, JKN covers all promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services. Differences exist in the services provided to general patients and JKN participants, with non-cut-off services functioning well. In the context aspect, all community members are obligated to be covered by JKN, and local governments can budget for JKN financing in accordance with Presidential Regulation number 83 of 2018. Both infectious and non-communicable diseases are covered by JKN, and there is no service discrimination at the first-level health facilities. Regarding the process, the UHC planning initiated in March 2022 was implemented by October 2022.
