The advantage of this circuit is the output current is an accurate multiplication of the (differential) base currents of both inputs As a mixer, its balanced operation, cancels out many unwanted mixing products, resulting in a \"cleaner\" output. Effort has been taken to design Gilbert cell, using VLSI technology. VLSI Technology includes process design, trends, chip fabrication, real circuit parameters, circuit design, electrical characteristics, configuration building blocks, switching circuitry, translation onto silicon, CAD and practical experience in layout design. The proposed mixer is designed using 45 nm CMOS/VLSI technology with microwind 3.1. This software allows designing and simulating an integrated circuit at physical description level. The main novelties related to the 45 nm technology are the high-k gate oxide, metal gate and very low-k interconnect dielectric. The effective gate length required for 45 nm technology is 25 nm. Efforts had been taken to design physical layout of Gilbert's mixer for output frequency of 2.45 GHz using 45 nm CMOS Technology.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"98 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122831920","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Typically the inputs and the output are incommensurate. In large data set, discussion regarding the forecast and output calculating of decision making units to measure their efficiency is important task specially. In this paper, one new hybrid method of two old forecasting models (fuzzy time series and recurrent neural network), that about data envelopment analysis has been considered, is used in order to get more accurate results than using each of methods individually. In the end of paper, each of methods (fuzzy time series, recurrent neural network, and hybrid method) on large data set of decision making units has been used and the results have been compared to each other.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127967192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is a leading cause of water quality dilemmas in our water bodies. Our soils will become vulnerable to erosion as when construction activity removes or disturbs vegetative cover, high rainfall intensity and the failure of the sediment basins to function effectively on site. Vegetative covers shield soil surface from the impact of rain, reduce the velocity of runoff, maintain the soil's capacity to absorb water, and hold soil particles in place. A healthy ecosystem in properly functioning watersheds depends on maintaining soil onsite. Soil loss is very difficult to measure and may go unnoticed until it becomes a severe problem to surroundings area. Hence, the present study aims is to estimates soil loss occurring on a construction site [disturbed land] located at Sungai Ara, Penang State of Malaysia. Using the Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation [MUSLE] for soil loss assessment on site, the Sharp Crested Rectangular Weirs were also built for runoff measurement. Results showed that large amount of sediment has being eroded from the study area during construction activities. The highest erosion rates anticipated for individual storm event is 64 ton/ha.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127346750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A study of absorption and upconversion luminescence of the (Nd<sup>3+</sup>/Er<sup>3+</sup>) co-doped tellurite glass has been carried out. From the absorption spectra, the excitation spectrum is found dominant at 585 nm. Two absorption peaks of Nd<sup>3+</sup> are found to overlap to Er<sup>3+</sup> centered at 525 nm and 805 nm which correspond to the (Nd<sup>3+</sup>: <sup>4</sup>I<sub>9/2</sub>→<sup>4</sup>G<sub>7/2</sub>, Er<sup>3+</sup>: <sup>4</sup>I<sub>15/2</sub>→<sup>2</sup>H<sub>11/2</sub>) and (Nd<sup>3+</sup>: <sup>4</sup>I<sub>9/2</sub>→<sup>2</sup>H<sub>9/2</sub>, Er<sup>3+</sup>: <sup>4</sup>I<sub>15/2</sub>→<sup>4</sup>I<sub>9/2</sub>) respectively. Meanwhile, there are eight significant upconverted luminescence spectra correspond to Nd<sup>3+</sup> ions centered at 485nm, 560nm, 605nm, 880nm, 1062nm and 1340nm with two more spectra that contributed from Er<sup>3+</sup> ions centered at 493 nm (<sup>4</sup>F<sub>7/2</sub>→<sup>4</sup>I<sub>15/2</sub>) and 524 nm (<sup>4</sup>S<sub>3/2</sub>→<sup>4</sup>I<sub>15/2</sub>) respectively have been observed The upconversion mechanism of the co-doped tellurite glass has been shown in the schematic energy diagrams In this works, it is found that the excited state-absorption (ESA) is still dominant in the upconversion excitation process as the upconversion excitation mechanism of the Nd<sup>3+</sup> excited-state levels is accomplished through a stepwise multiphonon process An efficient excitation energy transfer (ET) has been observed between Nd<sup>3+</sup> as a donor and Er<sup>3+</sup> as the acceptor. As a result, respective emission spectra had been observed. The construction industry has started to embrace IBS as a method of attaining better construction quality and productivity, reducing risks related to occupational safety and health, alleviating issues for skilled workers and dependency on manual foreign labour, and achieving the ultimate goal of reducing the overall cost of construction. Despite acknowledging its benefits, contractors are still not rapidly embracing IBS. The aim of this paper is to highlight part of the IBS survey report to measure the perception of contractors in Malaysia in the adoption of IBS in construction. The most important drivers for contractors to use IBS are for achieving high quality, gaining speed of construction, minimising on site duration, demand from client, and addressing skill shortage. The research also reveals that the main attribute to the lack of contractors embracing IBS are rarely purely technical in origin. They are more related to the organisational strategy and soft issues which underpin the capability of organisation to successfully implement IBS. This led to the identification that IBS is best handled as a holistic process and it requires a total synchronisation on construction, manufacturing and design processes. Factor such as Top-Down Corporate Vision, Early Decision to Use IBS and Early Assemble of Project Team are critical to the success of IBS.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133250125","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although this method has been able to detect reservoir up to 1000 m deep, it is less effective on the detection of deeper reservoir. This paper discusses the effectiveness of SBL method for the detection of deep hydrocarbon reservoir using various frequencies of EM wave via Computer Simulation Technology (CST) software. Simulation using CST software was conducted to determine the Magnitude of EM wave Versus Offset (MVO) for various depth of target and various EM frequencies. The simulation result shows that less effective results were shown in deep target when high frequency EM was used due to the attenuation of the waves as it reflected from the target. It was observed that while high frequency EM is able to detect shallow reservoirs, low frequency EM is more effective for deeper targets beneath the seabed.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131770130","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The structure was modeled as a rigid body with three degrees of freedom. The hyperbolic extrapolation and the extended Morison equation for an inclined cylinder were used for simulating the sea state and for determining the dynamic force vector. Time domain integration using Newmark Beta method was employed. The simulated results show insignificant effect of current and wind on the responses. Then car navigation unit equipped with Malaysia maps can only be bought in Singapore but today users can buy Tokyo automobile navigation maps even in Malaysia. These are patterns showing that Malaysian drivers are relying more on this devices to reach their destination. Prohibited manoeuvre in intelligent automation mapping in Malaysia has for long become its biggest challenge. Map provider until now are still depending on ground survey solution to acquire prohibited manoeuvre for complex junction. This manually acquires data need a strict automation quality control (QC) to ensure its integrity. Malfunction on navigation system turning direction has become one of the excuses for accident to happen. The Malaysian transportation system through its vast network of road systems has lead to the need of its own specification when it comes to Geographical Data Format (GDF). Prohibited manoeuvre for junction at Klang Valley has been adopted as research area to define the Malaysian pattern of prohibited manoeuvre. Further investigation on road pattern were conducted to rule out proper model for prohibited manoeuvre and mechanism to detect illogical definition of prohibited manoeuvre as well as flaw in spatial shape of the junction itself. This research were aim to provide guideline for the authority body in Malaysia to set up a clear rules and regulation for map provider that are currently exporting data to overseas for GDF conversion. The findings of this research could contribute in reducing the number of accidents in Malaysia.","PeriodicalId":404626,"journal":{"name":"2012 IEEE Business, Engineering & Industrial Applications Colloquium (BEIAC)","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-04-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122823734","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
