In the Philippines, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority which offers non-degree education to underprivileged Filipino adults is challenged by several problems in instruction including assessment. To address this concern, this study focused on assessment which is essential in enhancing the quality of education across all levels. This study specifically assessed and analyzed the level and quality of texts in a vocational school in the Philippines to help improve the transfer of learning toward a knowledgeable and skilled workforce. Using a descriptive-quantitative research design, this study measured the level and quality of vocational texts to address assessment concerns. This study measured the readability of technical and vocational texts from four vocational courses through measures of text difficulty and readers’ perspectives. The results of this study revealed a discrepancy between the level of texts and readers’ perceptions. Readerability assessment of technical and vocational texts is therefore recommended. This study also presents some pedagogical implications to the importance of assessment in informing instruction.","PeriodicalId":404002,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Vocational Education and Humanities","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126668612","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The face-to-face learning and teaching session are replaced by online learning and teaching session. Online learning was being implemented to deliver a seamless teaching and learning process so that the academic session can continue with the new norm through MCO and social distancing. There are barriers to conducting the practical class or hands-on practice for aquaponic topics due to the teaching and learning online classes. Therefore, this condition may affect the knowledge and understanding or performance of the student on aquaponic topics that require hands-on teaching and learning. Moreover, students at home who do not have the necessary equipment and tools for the practical session are among the challenges of doing practical sessions. Some materials, such as Rockwool and net pot, must be purchased as a set, but students may only require a portion of them, making the purchase burdensome to complete on their own aquaponic. To overcome the problem, the teaching aids \"Aquaponic Mini Models was developed. The purpose of this study was to identify the expert perspective on the development and usability of teaching aids \"Aquaponic Mini Models\" for aquaculture course. The teaching aids “Aquaponic Mini Models” was created using the ADDIE model through five phases: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. However, long-term use of chemical fertilizers has resulted in many unintended consequences such as environmental pollution including contribution of toxicity to the soil. Excessive toxicity of soil may prevent the growing of plants roots and containing low nutrients in plants. Previous study has proven that organic fertilizers may increase the plants growth and its soil quality. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine the effects of chicken manure and shrimp paste application on chili pepper growth. This study used Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) as an experimental design. There were 4 treatments with 5 replications in this study. The treatments were supplied with: T1 (tap water); T2 (30 gram of chicken manure); T3 (30 mL of shrimp paste solution); T4 (15 gram of chicken manure and 15 mL of shrimp paste). The parameters that have been observed in this study were root length, shoot length, leaves number and soil pH. The data was analysed by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and the differences between treatments mean were compared using Tukey test with significant level (P≤0.05). The results of this experiment showed that the chicken manure and shrimp paste solution had significant effects for all parameters measured except for soil pH value. All treatments were significantly higher compared to control. This study was conducted to provide more information as well as awareness to the agricultural industry and society to mainly use organic fertilizers in any cultivation of food product.","PeriodicalId":404002,"journal":{"name":"Asian Journal of Vocational Education and Humanities","volume":"126 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-12-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134426160","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
