The exact expressions for optimal weights, array outputs and the output signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) are derived. The analysis shows that use of the cyclic prefix data transmission scheme can significantly improve the performance of subband adaptive array (SBAA). We also show that if the output SINR is plotted versus the delay of the delay path then the output SINR of SBAA-CP is in effect the SINR of SBAA shifted by C samples to the right.","PeriodicalId":401041,"journal":{"name":"The 8th International Conference on Communication Systems, 2002. It addresses on the combined effects of the quantization and EBCOT modules. Since the EBCOT algorithm contains a high complexity computation and also becomes the bottleneck of JPEG2000, two speed-improved methods for EBCOT algorithm in JPEG2000 encoding system are proposed. These two methods can reduce the clock cycles to enhance the coding speed for pass checking efficiently and still preserve original functionality. In addition, a variable truncating quantization method has been applied to improve the speed for EBCOT. Finally, the computation complexity can be reduced by about 43% of the whole EBCOT.","PeriodicalId":401041,"journal":{"name":"The 8th International Conference on Communication Systems, 2002. However, being multihomed is intrinsically complicated. Specially, the fundamental to IPv6 is the concept of firm route aggregation, by which that TLA (top level aggregator) will need to announce the aggregate of their space only to other TLA peers. Due to above reason, it requires a fair of amount of thought and careful configuration to deploy multihoming in IPv6. In this paper, we propose a new efficient and scalable multihoming scheme, which is to target for solving the technical and potential problem of multihoming support at the site exit router (RFC 2260). Multihoming supporting at the site exit uses tunneling between the border router of the ISP and the site exit router during link-failure. However, this tunneling may not be established where there do not exist contracts for traffic between ISPs. So, the key feature of our scheme is to establish a tunneling section directly between the site exit router at the multihomed site and the border router of the source site. Though additional functionalities must be included on the border router under our scheme, the proposed scheme not only has better adaptability but also can perform limited load sharing.","PeriodicalId":401041,"journal":{"name":"The 8th International Conference on Communication Systems, 2002. Packet loss can be detrimental to compressed video. However, reducing packet loss to a very low level is difficult with current loss control techniques. Furthermore, even a very low objective loss probability can still seriously distort perceived video quality. This paper proposes a loss control scheme using video characteristics. It increases maximum loss tolerance for a desired level of video quality, providing better quality at equal loss ratios, as compared to a conventional packet discard scheme. Meanwhile, network efficiency is also improved.","PeriodicalId":401041,"journal":{"name":"The 8th International Conference on Communication Systems, 2002. We present a new transmit diversity scheme for MC-CDMA systems. It is composed of multiple transmission branches. Each branch transmits the same data symbol synchronously with the same spread code but with different delay. A RAKE receiver is employed in the frequency domain to obtain space diversity gains. In this system, each user is given a number of codes. Each code essentially creates a different transmission channel for the corresponding user. Each user uses one of the code channels to transmit a data symbol in each symbol interval. At the receiver, the noise and interference level at each code channel is monitored. If the noise and interference level at an available code channel is lower than that in the current code channel, a procedure, called code handoff, would be executed at allowed instants, i.e., the user would switch to the better code channel. Only power control and code handoff, which can be readily implemented, are required in the system. Analysis shows that interference power can be significantly reduced. With suitable choices of the codes, the effects of fading can also be alleviated. Simulations also show that the proposed system performs better than ordinary multicarrier CDMA systems.","PeriodicalId":401041,"journal":{"name":"The 8th International Conference on Communication Systems, 2002. In our method, an arbitrary length of bit data (binary pattern) can be embedded in brightness component of color images still keeping the perceptual quality of image. Pseudo random number (PN) sequence is introduced as a key to produce a watermarking code. The availability increases compared with the conventional methods. We investigate the influence of antenna topology on MIMO capacity and by comparing three topology schemes we find that selecting a proper antenna topology increases the capacity evidently. We explore their average capacity under different antenna number and power allocation methods. Despite the existing proposals, achieving a generic admission control (AC) strategy for traffic entering these networks is still an open issue. This paper provides new insights on how AC shall be accomplished proposing an encompassing AC model for multi-service class-based networks, which covers both intra-domain and end-to-end operation, without requiring changes in the network core and complex AC signaling. For each service type, AC is distributed and based on both on-line edge-to-edge monitoring of relevant QoS parameters and SLSs utilization. Service monitoring, performed at egress nodes, provides adequate metrics to ingress nodes which take implicit or explicit AC decisions based on service-de pendent criteria. Although being oriented to flow AC. the model can easily be applied to SLS AC. SLS auditing and SLS traffic conditioning are tasks also covered.","PeriodicalId":401041,"journal":{"name":"The 8th International Conference on Communication Systems, 2002.
