Comparative visualisation of these simulation results can help understanding the influence of different parameters. However, researchers might need to compare large numbers of variants. Single desktop monitors often do not have the resolution and screen size required for showing a whole ensemble at once with sufficient detail. Wall-sized high-resolution displays can be a solution for this problem. Although a number of studies has been conducted on how large high-resolution displays affect the speed and accuracy of certain tasks, only few of them are related to actual scientific visualisation tasks. We built a system for comparative visualisation of simulation results that can be used with conventional desktop monitors and with large high-resolution displays. We conducted a study using biochemical simulation data to evaluate the impact of screen size and 3D stereo display on a comparison task.","PeriodicalId":399556,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Symposium on Visual Information Communication and Interaction","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133439737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the volume of the data is enormous, the data analysis requires large amount of time and effort. It is more problematic when predictive analysis is necessary for futuristic decision making. In order for predictive analysis, there have been many studies to forecast future trends spatiotemporally. However, most of studies provide just future tendency per event using graphs or maps without contextual compositive analysis. In this paper, we present a predictive visual analytics system to provide predictive event patterns. We infer the future event evolution by combining contextually similar cases occurring in the past. We utilize social media data to detect interesting abnormal events and match the detected abnormal events within the past news media data in order to retrieve similar event patterns. Then, we extract future event patterns through compositing contextual relationship among topics included in the similar past patterns. In order to evaluate our VA system, we demonstrate two use cases in this paper and validate our system with possible predictive story lines.","PeriodicalId":399556,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Symposium on Visual Information Communication and Interaction","volume":"68 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130896302","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A design shape trend is necessary to read and predict the fast-moving global market environment, in order to design a competitive logo. This study thus created `Logo trend visualization', which is a combination of Radviz and Circle parallel coordinate to provide a guideline to design a competitive logo, based on such background. As a consequence, we suggest that design shape elements such as transformation to surface, overlapping, artificiality, concept of color and rhythm should be emphasized, and that logo trend visualization facilitates the understanding of the trend of a logo, based on the addition (or elimination) of various design shape elements which accordingly creates a new trend.","PeriodicalId":399556,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 8th International Symposium on Visual Information Communication and Interaction","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133808421","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
