It provides information on acid-base balance, ventilatory and oxygenation function as well as electrolyte balance. The choice of the best sample to use (arterial, capillary, venous), based on clinical conditions and anamnestic data, is important to optimize the information of BGA. Once available, the step-wise assessment may guide interpretation of the examination by allowing identification of pathologies of different origins and distinguishing between acute and chronic forms.","PeriodicalId":39791,"journal":{"name":"Quaderni ACP","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70773869","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The report draws attention to the current state of environment and health and what actions WHO member states can take to ensure future environmental protection; about 15 percent of all deaths could be prevented through healthier environments. Health risks are related to air pollution, water, sanitation and hygiene, chemicals, radiation, and climate change. There are more than 1.4 million deaths in Europe each year associated with preventable environmental health risks. The Budapest Declaration focuses attention on urgent actions to health challenges related to climate change, environmental pollution, biodiversity loss and land degradation to strengthen countries' capacities to meet the commitments made at the conference. Youth were strongly represented at the 7MCEH and were given the opportunity to participate and act on actions that will affect their future. Indeed, member states recognize how the environmental crisis affects the mental health of the younger generation and that protective actions such as increasing urban green areas and contact with nature are needed. Different articles in this issue highlight the importance for a good health of the parent-child-nature relationship, urban green spaces and how eco-anxiety can be a driver of change in a positive direction. This issue of Environment and Health News is based on the systematic review of the May and June 2023 publications.","PeriodicalId":39791,"journal":{"name":"Quaderni ACP","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135599333","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, while there is undisputed validity for some tests, for others there is no evidence of efficacy for the goal of reducing inappropriate antibiotic prescriptions. The trial by Mattila et al., conducted on more than 400 children attending a pediatric emergency room in Finland for respiratory infectious diseases, finds no reduction in antibiotic prescriptions even after testing children for 18 viruses, as well as other similar studies have shown.","PeriodicalId":39791,"journal":{"name":"Quaderni ACP","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135601326","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results of a systematic review with meta-analysis This systematic review included 25 studies including 5 pediatric studies (882 children) to evaluate the effect of lactoferrin (Lf) supplementation on inflammation, immune function, and acute respiratory tract infections. The pediatric studies involved children in the first years of life in whom Lf supplementation was via milk formula at a highly variable dosage ranging from 35 to 833 mg Lf/day. The meta-analysis shows that Lf reduces systemic inflammation and the incidence of respiratory tract infections (VRI) in infants but not in adults. However, 1 of the 3 studies included in the pediatric meta-analysis was judged to be at high risk of bias due to missing data by the authors of another 2021 review that used the Cochrane risk of bias assessment (not adopted in this study) and there is high heterogeneity evidenced by an I2 of 81%. The result of this meta-analysis is not very robust, and further studies of good methodological quality are needed before recommending this type of supplementation to reduce the incidence of VRI in early life.","PeriodicalId":39791,"journal":{"name":"Quaderni ACP","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135601090","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The classic direct search for the parasite on faeces and/or urine has a low sensitivity and the risk of false negatives is high. The availability of reliable serological tests allows, especially in areas with low endemia, to increase the possibilities of diagnosis, thus reducing the risk of unfavorable outcomes.","PeriodicalId":39791,"journal":{"name":"Quaderni ACP","volume":null,"pages":null},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"70774129","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
