{"title":"Orthopädische Schuhe und Innenschuhe – Indikation und Grenzen der Versorgung","authors":"Hartmut Stinus , Michael Möller","doi":"10.1016/j.fuspru.2023.05.004","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1016/j.fuspru.2023.05.004","url":null,"abstract":"<div><p>Orthopedic custom-made shoes and orthopedic innershoes are indicated when the patient can no longer be helped satisfactorily with simpler orthotic devices, i.e. with foot orthoses and adjustments to the ready-made shoe.</p><p>The aim is to restore mobility in cases of moderate to severe damage to the bones, ankles, muscles, ligaments or tendons of the foot. The task of an orthopedic shoe fitting is to enable and maintain an appropriate walking function and reduce the symptoms of discomfort when walking and standing; ultimately, to enable participation in public life.</p><p>In the orthopedic shoe, all functional elements of foot orthoses, the adjustments to the ready-made shoe and the functional replacement of the foot lower leg can be integrated in one aid. Essentially, the regulations for the care of patients in the state health insurance system are formulated in the German Social Code V (SGB V). The roles and responsibilities of physicians as prescribers, orthopedic shoe technicians as service providers, and insurance companies as reimbursors are clearly defined. Although the supply process is essentially no different from that for everyday patients, it is important to consider important, sport-specific aspects with regard to the diagnosis and analysis. Knowledge of functional anatomy, pathology, and biomechanics is essential to meet the individual needs of athletes and avoid downtime in the tightly scheduled competition calendar due to incorrect treatments.
