{"title":"High temperature plastics bearing compositions","authors":"G.H. West , J.M. Senior Dr.","doi":"10.1016/0041-2678(73)90177-2","DOIUrl":"10.1016/0041-2678(73)90177-2","url":null,"abstract":"<div><p>The chemistry and technology of high temperature plastics is outlined and the development of filled compositions for use as bearing materials is discussed with reference to their friction and wear characteristics, physical properties and fabrication problems. The development of a journal bearing lined with a polyphenylene sulphide-based composition is described and a comparison made with a commercially available epoxy-based material in tests covering a wide range of temperatures, loads and sliding speeds.
