A new combined anti-reverberation detection and identification technique based on WVD time-frequency spectrum characteristic matching processing is presented in this paper. We make use of the characteristics of additive Gaussian distribution of seafloor reverberation and the difference between reverberation (involving false target) and target echo in time-frequency domain. The processing results of the SAS data obtained from lake test show that the combined anti-reverberation detection and identification technique is robust, not only effective in anti-reverberation detection, but also helpful to recognize the SAS image.","PeriodicalId":397110,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2000 International Symposium on Underwater Technology (Cat. Especially this is a world largest class oil recovery vessel. On this vessel, various types of sensors are adopted to support automatic dredging and oil recovery operations. From the standpoint of underwater technology, this vessel is equipped with a seabed mapping system which supports more accurate and efficient dredge operations, called the dredge operation support (DOS) system. The motion of the long towing cable used in the observations is the dominant motion of the towing system, so that an accurate mathematical model of the towing cable must be determined. A design for a motion controller using a mathematical model of the cable motion based on a finite number of eigenfunctions of the cable motion equation is developed for the vehicle. Results of numerical simulation were compared with results from a lumped mass method and it was shown that the transient characteristic of the cable motion depends on the method used for the mathematical model. If the number of sound rays is taken equal to that of unknown quantities such as the position of the transponder at the sea bottom and the underwater parameters, namely, the sound velocities of layers, the number of equations become equal to that of unknowns. Hence, not only the position of the transponder but also the unknown underwater parameters can be determined at the same time. Coal seams with a thickness of more than 8 m can be mined layer by layer, leaving a dividing, safety coal pillar of not less than 1 m thick in the middle of the chamber height. The purpose of the pillar is to preserve the side walls of the chamber from caving in within the period of the mining. If the coal seam is divided with a rock interlayer, the safety dividing pillar may be a rock interlayer. The authors consider as examples, the seams of the Shkotovski deposit of the Artem mine, some thick seams of the Ozemi and Zaozyomi 1, 2, 3 sites, coal seams of the operating mines in the shelf of Ussuriysk Gulf.
