The present study was carried out to investigate the impact of laser puncture as an adjunctive therapy on liver enzymes after a burn. Material and Methods: The study included 30 injured patients with burned body surface areas ranging from 30 to 50%. They were aged from 25 to 40 years. Cases from Orabi Hospital were randomized into two groups, equal in number. Group A included 15 cases as they received laser acupuncture (infrared diode laser, wavelength 808 nanometers, with pulse interval: 200 nanoseconds, power density: 0.4 Watt/cm², and energy density 4 Joule/cm²); it was located in direct connection with skin perpendicular to the body acupoints (ST36), (SP6), (LR3), (GB34), (BL18) on each side of the body as well as Zhongwan (RN12) and conducted for 90 seconds for every point three times a week, for 4 weeks after leaving the intensive care unit, conventional physiotherapy program as well as medical treatment. Group B included 15 patients as they received only their conventional physiotherapy program as well as medical treatment. Aspartate transaminase (AST) and liver enzymes, alanine transaminase (ALT) were determined using a spectrophotometer. Results. After four weeks of our intervention, it was found that the laser puncture group had significantly lower ratios of plasma liver enzymes than those in the control group. Thus, it can be concluded that laser puncture serves as an efficient adjunctive therapy for improving liver function after a burn.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"116 47","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139134128","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the training process, elite athletes use high resistance strength training strategies causing fatigue in athletes. On the positive side, fatigue is considered as a stimulus for muscle adaptation and increased muscle performance; on the negative side, it can lead to overreaching to overtraining. Monitoring and training time of athletes is needed to ensure athletes are consistent with training and minimize the risk of maladaptation of training to injury. Monitoring with the self-report method can be done as a marker of the athlete’s fatigue symptoms. This study aims to describe the perceptions of elite athletes towards fatigue. This research design uses descriptive method with cross-sectional design. The subjects involved in this study were the elite athletes of West Java KONI who did the training for PON XX 2021. In this case, the subjects were 215 elite athletes with 36 martial arts, 51 teams, 9 ratings, 34 games, 85 measured. Three RPE Scale with the highest frequency, namely the 13 scale “somewhat hard” (n = 64 29.8%), the 17 “very hard” (n = 47 21.9%), followed by a 12 “between light and somewhat hard” (n = 24 11.2%). There are athletes who choose scale of 6 “no exertion at all” (n = 6 2.8%) and for scale of 20 “maximum exertion” (n = 2 0.9%). Also, there are three RPE Scale with the lowest frequency, namely the 20 “maximum exertion” scale (n = 2 0.9%), followed by scale 19 “extremely hard” (n = 2 0.9%) with the same score and scale 18 (n = 3 1.4%). In this study, the perception of fatigue of elite athletes in West Java using the RPE scale of 20 scales is 13 “somewhat hard” and 17 “very hard”. Recent scientific reports in dentistry and psychology tend to emphasize the role of various personality traits in temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMD) multimodal etiology. Since type D personality is a new construct, there has not been much research published regarding this subject. It encompasses both the tendency to experience negative emotions and the tendency to refrain from expressing them. The impact of this combined effect on the increase in stress intensity and the development of somatic and psychiatric illnesses is clearly highlighted. The data presented in the scientific report complement previous insights during ongoing research on Type D personality in people with TMD predisposing factors. Aim. The aim of this article was to assess the influence of type D personality and its two dimensions on the prevalence of symptoms located in TMJ and adjacent tissues, predisposing factors, depression, and levels of perceived stress. Material and methods. The study was conducted on a group of 240 physiotherapy students. The study group (G1) comprised of 120 students with DS. 14 type D personality. The control group (G2) consisted of the same number of people without Type D personality. Data obtained included symptoms of TMJ symptoms, and predisposing factors according to original questionnaire form developed for the study; PSS10 stress severity questionnaire and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were also used. Results. In the study group, TMD symptoms significantly positively correlate with type D personality (with NE a stronger correlation than with SI), PSS10 and BDI, and negatively correlate with age. Students with type D personality had significantly more frequent and higher TMD symptoms than those without stress personality (p = 0.000). The exception was the symptom of increased muscle tension which showed no statistical difference (p = 0.222). People with Type D personality are more than 6 times more likely to clench their teeth (OR = 6.76) and 3 times more likely to have TMJ acoustic symptoms (OR = 3.35) and teeth grinding (OR = 3.27). In the study group, as the level of perceived stress and degree of depression increased, the number of TMJ and preauricular area complaints reported were also on the rise. In the group of students with type D personality, depression was significantly more frequent than in the group without stress personality (p = 0.000). Conclusion. Students with Type D personality risk experiencing more TMJ and preauricular area issues, while coping with more stress and depressed mood.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":" 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139135927","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
