This experimental study focused on determining the effectiveness of a 1-month High-Intensity Interval Training program to 10 selected clients which are classified as overweight and obese. Based on the findings, it was found that after participating in High-Intensity Interval Training for one month, most of the participants successfully reduced body measurements, vital signs, and body mass index. In terms of girth measurements, participants’ abdomen, chest and waist circumference improved significantly; while forearm and the legs have a slight significant difference. Based on blood pressure, it was observed that High-Intensity Interval Training may positively help to keep blood pressure in the normal range. However, no evidence to imply that this particular program can regulate it. Lastly, based on the pre- and post-test scores of the clients, it was observed that High-Intensity Interval Training program has a significant effect on the improvement on their girth measurement, vital signs, and body mass index. Performing a similar study to support or repudiate the claims of this study is highly recommended.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"15 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139129983","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Adolescence is a pivotal time in a person’s life, and for many juveniles, it’s marked by delinquency. However, this behavior shouldn’t be seen as a negative thing, but rather as a natural part of their transition from childhood to adulthood. It’s important that we guide and support these young people through this crucial time, so they can navigate the challenges of growing up and become responsible, productive members of society. Aim. To gain a deeper understanding of how football can positively influence adolescent behavior and deter juvenile delinquency. Material and method. This study employs qualitative methods with a grounded theory approach, ensuring a thorough and rigorous analysis. A study was conducted on twenty five youth coaches in Indonesia and Malaysia and four parents, all of whom had a football coaching license and a minimum of 5 years experience in coaching. This study implements data triangulation, utilizing open-ended semi-structured interviews, observation, and document analysis to gather research data. Results. According to the study, football can be utilized as a tool to shape the character of adolescents. It can help them develop independence, responsibility, emotional management skills, positive attitude, respect for others, courage, alertness, decision-making abilities, and social skills. Furthermore, it can prevent juvenile delinquency by providing opportunities for positive interactions with others. Conclusions. Researchers recommend that children engage in physical activities, particularly football, from a young age. This can significantly shape their character and reduce the likelihood of future delinquent behavior.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"37 25","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139131420","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This prospective study provides preliminary findings on the clinical effectiveness of minimally invasive CO2 vaginal laser for patients suffering from mixed urinary incontinence. Materials and Methods. Thirty females suffering from mild to moderate degrees of mixed urinary incontinence underwent CO2 laser treatment with a specialized applicator and wavelength of 10,600 nm in an outpatient setting without anaesthetics or postoperative drugs. All patients received a total of two sessions, each separated by a 4-week period. The ICIQ-UI SF questionnaire (Arabic form) as well as a cough stress test were used to assess the clinical outcome 3 months following treatment in all patients. Patients were given the ICIQ-UI SF to complete before starting treatment and once again three months after completing two sessions of therapy. Results. A statistically significant decline in the ICIQ UI -SF was observed from baseline (from 8 ± 0.58) to the 3-month follow-up (5.1 ± 0.79). Moreover, eight patients (26.7%) had a negative cough stress test 3 months after the second laser session. During the study duration, there were no severe side effects. Conclusions. Collagen remodeling and production induced by vaginal CO2 laser may assist in the recovery and repair of pelvic floor function. In patients with MUI, this treatment method demonstrated effective as well as safe clinical outcomes as evaluated by the ICIQ-UI SF questionnaire, despite the limited sample size and short follow-up.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"34 8","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139131123","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research uses a systematic review method. Studies were identified through Proquest, Pubmed, ScienceDirect, and PMC Europe electronic databases. The inclusion criteria in this study were international journals that focused on discussing aerobic exercise, stretching, core strengthening, Zumba, and FITT as treatment methods for PD, as well as articles that discussed the efficacy of curcumin as a PD treatment. The exclusion criteria in this study were international journals that had been published in the last 5 years and articles that were not relevant to PD treatment. For standard operationalization, this Study follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Based on the results of the review, physical exercise such as aerobic exercise, treadmill, Zumba, squatting exercise, and therapeutic exercise which is done regularly has the potential to reduce the intensity of menstrual pain. Furthermore, curcumin supplementation at a dose of 500-1000 mg can help reduce complaints of primary dysmenorrhea by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) reaction so that it can reduce inflammation and inhibit uterine contractions which cause menstrual pain.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"97 19","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139131543","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Nevertheless, there is a dearth of research undertaken on college students within the specific setting of higher education institutions in the Philippines. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the TABATA workout’s efficacy for overweight female college students. The present study utilized an experimental methodology to evaluate the efficacy of TABATA training among twenty overweight college students aging from 19-21 years old [(N20yo = 9 (45.00%), N19yo = 6 (30.00%), N21yo = 5 (25.00%); mean = 19.95]. Furthermore, the students participated in a 20-minute workout, three times each week, for a duration of ten weeks. The paired t-test was employed to ascertain the statistical significance of the variance observed in participants’ BMI values after a duration of 10 weeks. Following a 10-week exercise regimen, it was observed that participants saw a decrease in their body mass index (BMI) and shown overall improvement [BMIa(pre) (26.81 ± 1.37) and BMIb(post) (25.75 ± 1.63), t(19) = 9.379, p < .05]. According to the results obtained, engagement in the TABATA program has demonstrated efficacy and the potential to yield substantial enhancements in students’ body mass index. This study did not consider additional variables that could potentially influence the outcome of the study. Hence, it is possible to conduct similar experiments by considering additional variables that were not accounted for in this study.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"122 37","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139132720","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aimed to investigate the correlation between prenatal maternal stress (PMS) experienced by women during pregnancy and perinatal risk factors and infant motor development, as assessed by the Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS). Aim of the study It was hypothesised that infants born to mothers who experienced PMS have lower levels of motor development during their first year of life compared to infants of mothers who did not experience PMS. Material and methodology. The test was conducted on 171 women and their 179 children. The subjects were divided into two groups: 1) mothers who experienced PMS and 2) mothers who did not experience PMS. The same key was applied to divide the study infants into two subgroups: 1) infants of women experiencing PMS and 2) infants of women not experiencing PMS. Each infant was assessed using the standardised AIMS tool. Results. The study results suggest that infants of mothers experiencing PMS score lower on neurodevelopmental assessments, persisting at least 12 months after birth, than infants of mothers not experiencing PMS. Moreover, a correlation was demonstrated between stress during pregnancy and factors such as gestational age, mode of delivery, birth weight, and Apgar scores. Conclusions. Stress experienced by mothers during pregnancy can affect motor development in infancy. Also, perinatal factors such as the week and type of labour, birth weight, and Apgar score should not be underestimated.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"121 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139132900","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Material and methods. the study covered 103 table tennis players who had a license in Silesian sports clubs for at least a year – 32 girls and 71 boys aged 7-10. One of the inclusion criteria for the study was participation in at least three training sessions per week. Among children, the range of motion of the upper limb was measured using the inertial GYKO device. Collected results were subjected to statistical analysis using a nonparametric U Mann Whitney test. Results. Right-handed children playing table tennis showed a significantly greater range of motion of the right upper limb both during flexion and abduction movements. In turn, among left-handed children, the range of motion during both movements was significantly greater in the left upper limb. Conclusions. Among the athletes, a relationship between the playing hand and the range of motion of the right and left upper limb both during flexion and abduction movements was found (p < 0.05). The participants had a significantly greater range of motion of the upper limb with which they played table tennis. Research has shown that among young table tennis players from the Silesian Voivodeship, therapeutic procedures are necessary to increase the range of motion of the non-playing hand.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"103 20","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139134895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a comprehensive search for studies conducted within the context of higher education in the Indonesia yielded no existing research. This study investigates the impact of aerobic activities on male students aged 20 – 22 [(N21 YEARS OLD = 9(45.00%), N20 YEARS OLD = 7(35.00%), N22 YEARS OLD = 4(20.00%); age mean of mean = 20.85 ± 0.75] from a selected higher education institution in the country. The present study employed an experimental research methodology, utilizing a sample of male college students who were overweight or obese. The sample size was divided equally, with a total of 20 participants (N = 20). The participants engaged in a 12-week aerobic fitness regimen consisting of one-hour session, three times per week. Independent samples t-test was used to examine the difference in the performance of both groups in relation to their BMI and WC post-test scores, while paired t-test was employed to compare the difference in the pre-test and post-test scores on participants’ BMI and WC. Based on the results, a notable disparity in performance was detected between the two groups, with obese students demonstrating a considerable enhancement in their BMI [t(15.887) = −9.797, p < 0.05]. On the other hand, no significant difference was observed in the performance of the groups in terms of WC [t(16.665) = −0.505, p = 0.620]. A notable disparity was noted in the pre- and post-test scores of the participants’ BMI and WC subsequent to engaging in a 12-week regimen of aerobic exercise, both in a general sense (BMI [t(19) = 14.439, p < 0.05 and WC t(19) = 14.333, p < 0.05) and within each group [Overweight: BMI t(9) = 14.488, p < 0.05] and WC t(9) = 15.057, p < 0.05; Obese: BMI t(9) = 7.922, p < 0.05] and WC t(9) = 7.746, p < 0.05]. Based on the findings, it can be inferred that involving male students who are overweight or obese in a meticulously planned aerobic exercise regimen has the potential to yield substantial improvements in their BMI and WC. This, in turn, may lead to increased performance in physical activity. Limitations and future research endeavors are hereby presented.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"105 38","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139135014","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The importance of warming up before exercising is something that must be done, especially warming up through games. The purpose of the study was to determine whether warm-up through games in physical education learning can increase students’ learning motivation and cooperation. Materials and Methods. The research design used in this study was a Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The total population was 138 students (aged 10-12 years) from six elementary schools, with 67 students from three elementary schools as the experimental group and 71 students from three elementary schools as the control group. Instruments to measure pretest and posttest of learning motivation and cooperation skills used questionnaires with a Likert scale (1-5). The analysis technique used an independent sample t-test with the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 21 software. Results. Based on the results of the analysis, we conclude that warm-up through games is effective in increasing learning motivation (p-value 0.000<0.05) and student cooperation (p-value 0.000<0.05) in Physical Education learning. Conclusions. We understand that the selection of games in the warm-up is not arbitrary. It depends on the next learning activity and the group of students. It is also decided holistically, taking into account how the various warm-up games complement and support the overall activity.","PeriodicalId":39576,"journal":{"name":"Fizjoterapia Polska","volume":"85 17","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-12-31","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139131954","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
