In the near future the technological developments will make it possible for vehicles to travel on the roads without human intervention. However, downstream users have differing views on this new mode of transport. The aim of our research was to explore the opinions of different social generation groups and traffic groups about fully autonomous self-driving (SAE Level 5). In our research, we conducted an online self-report questionnaire survey. The questionnaire was completed by 223 people. The results were analyzed from several perspectives. The results showed that opinions and expectations in the field of autonomous vehicles differed by generation group, gender and primary mode of transport.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135837642","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Transport services were provided by national operators, which led to the prevention of participation in fair and non-discriminatory competition in the provision of rail transport services. It is necessary to analyse the overall development in the operation of rail passenger transport, including the entry of private operators into the rail infrastructure. Based on the knowledge of the current situation, it is necessary to take measures to achieve compliance with the requirements of Regulation (EC) No 1370/2007. The paper characterizes the current state and the process of organizing public tenders in the Slovak Republic based on a case study and their process and proposes the gradual steps of the public tender in the form of a schedule. An important point of the whole process of the organization of the public tender is the correct setting of competencies, determination of the subject of the public tender and to propose a uniform methodology of the public tender, which may, however, vary in individual states due to the conditions of national legislation. Part of the unified methodology is the determination of the phases of the public tender process, which are part of the schedule of the public tender. The schedule of the public tender shows the entire cycle, resp. the duration of each phase of the tender for each proposed group of measures taken.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42177023","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The complexity of this maneuver merits the adoption of a thorough method for developing a proposed assistance system to prevent accidents and consequently reduce the high number of fatalities and the associated economic costs. This study aims to introduce an intelligent Driver Overtaking Assistance System (DOAS) to assist drivers in performing overtaking maneuvers safely. The study also will introduce a method to assess the impact of all the influential variables related to the driver, vehicle, traffic, road, and the surrounding environment. In momentary driving situations, the DOAS uses the communicated information via Hello beacon messages (HBM) and a set of input sensors to measure the possibility of overtaking the preceding vehicle(s) proactively by considering whether the distance gap to the oncoming vehicle is sufficient for overtaking. Besides, the proposed system is a vehicle-based safety system based on the collection of contextual information from the driving vicinity to acquire all relevant information regarding the ambient driving environment and the vehicles involved in the overtaking. To do this, DOAS uses a Bayesian Network (BN) to model overtaking maneuvers. The work presented shows high accuracy and promising results in aiding safe overtaking, with significant improvements to overtaking maneuvers on two-lane rural roads.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44521867","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Women require more genuine investment efforts in comfortable and safer infrastructure for accessing and utilizing public transportation. The implementation of a smart city is one of the infrastructure investments. Smart mobility is one of the service cluster divisions, and smart mobility indicators are taken into account in the implementation. The objective of this study is to convert female mobility patterns and attitudes toward BRT service into smart mobility indicators. The method used is quantitative, and the questionnaire is designed to poll 209 people. Chi-Square and Likert scale are employed to analyze those criteria. The results demonstrate that the BRT has provided the female passenger services that they require at the current service level. The passenger pattern demonstrates that women depend on the BRT service to meet their transportation needs. Furthermore, the ICT criteria as a core for smart mobility has been challenging for both parties (female passengers and BRT operator). The limitation of this study is that it cannot demonstrate empirically that smart mobility is free gender biased and gaps until public transportation is fully inclusive.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-10","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47319875","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there is a need for methodological improvement, CBA seems to retain its role as the most coherent and robust framework available for project appraisal. Based on the mentioned need for improvement, this paper aims to create a test environment to analyse possible methodological advances in transport CBAs. This test environment consists of three different models based on typical transport interventions. The models have different levels of complexity and computational need. The sensitivity of each model was tested, and the most critical factors were identified. The majority of the economic benefits come from travel time savings, so the value of time was identified as the five most sensitive factors for all cases.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-07","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42620822","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This study employed generalized linear modeling techniques to develop the model. It was assumed that the accident counts followed negative-binomial distribution, and the link function was chosen to be the log link function. Negative-binomial modeling technique was chosen over Poisson distribution because it is the most used technique by many researchers as crash data may encounter over-dispersion. The accident data set showed greater variability between its variance and mean. The accident frequency distribution is shown in this study that it is highly skewed, with a very high number of road segments registering zero accidents. Negative binomial distribution was chosen over Poisson distribution after comparing Akaike’s Information Criterion (AIC) and Bayesian Information Criteria (BIC). The method is widely applied to count data. Twenty-two parameters were estimated in the model. Since p < 0.05 in the omnibus test, the null hypothesis is rejected, which indicates that the model is reasonably fit. The strongest variables in the model were witnessed to be the length of the links, number of lanes, average daily traffic, bus lane, number of buses and trolleys, and HGVs.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44572013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This, therefore, calls for ef-fective and efficient traffic management at the intersections for improved safety and efficient traffic flow. This study aimed to improve traffic flow at the Gaa-Akanbi intersection in Ilorin, Nigeria, using a traffic signal scheme. A traffic volume study and geometric features survey was carried out at the intersection. The traffic volume study was performed to determine the number, movement, and classification of vehicles at this intersection using the manual method of traffic count, while the geometric survey of the intersection was done using tape and Total Station. A 3-phase traffic signal was proposed. The optimum cycle length and signal setting were determined using SIDRA Intersection software by adopting the maximum average passenger car unit on the intersection and targeted level of service (LOS) \"D\". A traffic signal plan with a cycle length of 150 seconds was designed for the intersection. The amber time was considered to be 2 seconds for all phases, and green time of 48, 46 and 38 seconds was gotten for phases 1, 2 and 3, respectively; this timing ensures that minimum delay occurs at the intersection. The proposed traffic signal should be adopted at the intersection by the metropolitan traffic management agency to improve traffic management.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47951938","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It presents an accident table that links the nature of the accidents to the causes of the accident. The connection provides a comprehensive overview of the typical motorcycle accidents that can be extended to events that have occurred. With this in mind, a conclusion can be drawn in the sense that an accident could have been avoided by a proper reaction of the motorcycle rider, and it would also make suggestions for developing a methodology for motorcycling education. Currently, motorcycling on the domestic road network is a hobby rather than a means of everyday travel, but the 10% participation rate in accidents certainly justifies the need to investigate this mode of transport. Today's state-of-the-art and technically well-equipped high-performance motorcycles require efficient vehicle handling and road use preparation. Therefore, drivers need to be able to respond appropriately to the challenges of our accelerated traffic.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42887383","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

VISSIM microsimulation software is currently used by Road Development Authority (RDA) and relevant authorities to perform traffic management solutions in Sri Lanka. However, it is required to do modifications to the existing driver behavior parameter values to effectively reflect the realistic traffic conditions observed in the real-world in the simulated model. The main purpose of this study is to calibrate the VISSIM driver behavior parameter values using a genetic algorithm (GA). The methodology and results of the VISSIM model’s sensitivity analysis and calibration, which was developed for the Malabe three-legged signalized intersection, are presented in this study. A sensitivity analysis was used to find the most sensitive driver behavior parameters. Using the multi-objective GA optimization tool in the MATLAB software's optimization toolbox, the optimum driver behavior parameter values for these identified most sensitive driver behavior parameters were determined. The findings revealed that GA optimization is effective in reducing the difference between observed and simulated results.","PeriodicalId":39536,"journal":{"name":"Periodica Polytechnica Transportation Engineering","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-01-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48236831","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
