Objectives: The aim was to evaluate the profile of SM reports submitted to the Brazilian Health Surveillance Notification System (Notivisa) and classify these reports objectively by means of lexicographic analysis. Methods: Was extracted all SM reports available in Notivisa during the period 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2017. Descriptive statistics were performed and the reasons for SM reporting were standardized (using OpenRefine and Microsoft Excel). The following analyses were performed using IRAMuTeQ 0.7 alpha2: lexicographic analysis to obtain the frequency of active words; descending hierarchical classification (DHC) to categorize the active words into lexical classes; factorial correspondence analysis (FCA) to obtain graphs of the classes. Approved by the Ethics Committee of the Hospital do Trabalhador/SES/PR CAAE 81873417.3.0000.5225 (protocol number: 2.506.594). Results: A total of 61,775 reports were analyzed, most of them reported by hospitals (46%). The DHC of the reasons for SM produced four classes visualized in the FCA: (i) packaging problems (16%) mainly leakages/opening issues; (ii) inadequate drug identification (22%), such as illegible label information; (iii) stability and contamination issues (11%) such as presence of particles; (iv) damaged tablets/blisters (23%) mainly broken tablets. Most SM (52%) were solutions for parenteral use; sodium chloride (9%), glucose and dipyrone (3%) were the products with most complaints. Conclusions: The reasons for SM reporting can be objectively classified into classes that represent the main problems submitted to Notivisa. This classification could guide the standardization of SM reporting and contribute to improving surveillance reporting systems worldwide. identifying those axes for which the distance between the profiles and axes is minimized while simultaneously maximizing the amount of explained inertia 30,37 . Method: This is a prospective and descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The study population included all patients attended at Francisco Beltrao Cancer Hospital (Ceonc) from May 2015 to December 2018 (n=315). The characterization of their exposure profile was obtained through an interview using a form applied by trained researchers contained 60 questions related to women’s pesticide exposure and their health status. The questions referred to past and current occupational pesticide exposure profile, intoxication, and health history from women and their families. All collected data were analyzed in the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences package (SPSS 25.0). Results: A total of 265 individuals (84.2%) have lived some part of their life in the countryside, and 70% were categorized as occupationally exposed to pesticides. Most of them (57%) were directly exposed, mainly by washing pesticide-contaminated clothes and personal protective equipment used in pesticide pulverization without glove protection. Cancer cases in the family were the main disease reported (68.3%). Further, 57% of interviewed women had a breast cancer diagnosis but no significance between breast cancer occurrence and pesticide exposure was observed. Conclusion: The form allowed us to characterize the profile of occupational pesticide exposition in rural women, alerting them to their severe contamination. This approach can be useful to characterize the occupational exposure profiles of rural workers living in other rural regions of Brazil that use pesticides.","PeriodicalId":394666,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Ciências Farmacêutica Básica e Aplicadas - RCFBA","volume":"165 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123563799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Methods: This is a retrospective cross-sectional study analyzing reports of adult patients with TB, who were notified in the TB-Web from January 2010 to December 2020. Sociodemographic (e.g. sex, race and scholarity) and clinical variables (e.g., clinical form, types of cases and comorbidities) were collected and analyzed. The completeness of TB notifications and the impact of COVID-19 on TB notifications were evaluated, considering the year of 2020. The study was reported following Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) checklist for cross-sectional studies [CAAE 33166620.0.0000.0102]. Results: A total of 1,509 notifications were included, with a mean incidence of 48.5/100,000 inhabitants. The median age was 42 years, most notification included males (71%), were of white race (42%) and had the pulmonary form of TB (85%). In assessing the impact of the pandemic on notifications in 2020, there was a decrease of 36% in the number of TB notifications, with an emphasis between July and August, which was the peak period of COVID-19 cases in the region. No change in the completeness of TB notifications was observed in this period. Conclusions: Results indicate the clinical and epidemiological profile in a region of SP between 2010 and 2020. Methods: Simple, rapid and efficient HPLC-UV methods to quantify GAB in human plasma and urine were developed and validated for clinical analysis of GAB. The 1fluoro-2,4-dinitrobenzene (FDNB) was used as derivatization agent. For plasma samples, protein precipitation using acetonitrile was performed, before the derivatization reaction. Urine samples were cleaned-up by liquid-liquid extraction with dichloromethane:n-butanol (1:1, v/v) after derivatized. Amlodipine besilate was used as internal standard (IS). Results: Gabapentin and IS were resolved on LiChrospher® C18 RP column and a mixture of 50 mM sodium phosphate buffer (pH 3.9):methanol (27:73, v/v) as mobile phase, at 1.2 mL/min. The methods used small sample volumes, 100 and 50 μL of plasma and urine, respectively. Linearity was obtained in the interval of 0.2-14 μg/mL in plasma and 2-120 μg/mL in urine. Both methods showed to be selective, without carry-over effect, precise, accurate and stable in different conditions. GAB plasma concentration in patients receiving 600 to 3600 mg/day of GAB ranged between 0.40 to 11.94 μg/mL at steady-state. Conclusions: The methods described in this study were simple, rapid and fulfill all validation requirements. Recent studies have suggested that vitamin D supplementation, associated with levothyroxine, may contribute to the control of this autoimmune disease. However, secondary studies on this topic, such as systematic reviews and meta-analyses, are still scarce. Thus, the present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of vitamin D in patients with HD through a systematic review with meta-analysis. Randomized clinical trials were selected on the Pubmed, Scopus, and Web of Science databases. Studies comparing groups of HD patients supplemented with vitamin D and non-supplemented HD patients were included. The following outcomes were considered: TSH, T3, T4, Anti-Tg, Anti-TPO, and adverse drug reactions. The risk of bias was performed according to the Cochrane recommendations (RoB v. 2.0), and the quality of evidence was evaluated by the GRADE system. A total of 766 studies were identified in the databases, of which 7 met the eligibility criteria. None of the studies indicated the occurrence of adverse reactions with vitamin D supplementation in any administered dosage. Supplemented patients had a significant reduction in serum TSH levels compared to the control group (mean difference = -0.180 (95% CI [-0.316 to -0.045]), p = 0.009), suggesting that thyroid function was more controlled in the intervention group. However, for the other outcomes, no statistically significant differences were observed between the groups. Additionally, most of included articles (n=5/7) had some concerns or high risk of bias, and the quality of evidence revealed a moderate confidence for almost all outcomes; so the results must be interpreted with caution. Thus, more consistent, and robust clinical trials need to be carried out to confirm the efficacy of vitamin D supplementation in patients with HD.","PeriodicalId":394666,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Ciências Farmacêutica Básica e Aplicadas - RCFBA","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121398558","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A script was prepared to verify their adequacy to health standards based on the Brazilian legislation (commercial name, botanical nomenclature, active ingredients, concentration, route of administration, age-restricted use, quantity and pharmaceutical form, preservation care, company name, CNPJ - Brazils's companies registration number, composition, SAC, expiration date, manufacture and batch), descriptive analysis of the data was performed (protocol number 38400314.9.0000.0003). Results: Only 4% of the products completely met the analyzed criteria. One of the main problems observed was the absence of a uniform standard of presentation of information on the packaging. About 7% of these products did not present any information besides the popular name of the medicinal plant used, 37% of the packages (or labels) contain statements and images that induce self-medication, errors in use, or references to \"natural medicine\", besides, transmitting the idea that the product has superior properties to drugs on the market. The search for natural bioactive compounds that can inhibit AGE formation has gained immense interest. Quercetin and its glycoside derivative, rutin, are powerful antioxidants. They have been studied due to their potential to mitigate the disturbances observed in diabetes; however, studies comparing their antiglycation effects are limited. The aim of the present study was to compare the in vitro antiglycation potentials of quercetin and rutin. Methods: The in vitro model system of protein glycation was applied using bovine serum albumin (10 mg/mL) incubated with glucose (0.5 M) in the absence or presence of aminoguanidine (1 mM, prototype anti-AGE agent), metformin (1 mM), quercetin (100, 50, or 12.5 µM), or rutin (100, 50, or 12.5 µM). Before initiating incubations (day 0) and after 10, 20, and 30 days, aliquots were assayed for fluorescent AGEs. Markers of amino acid oxidation (dityrosine, N’-formylkynurenine, kynurenine), protein carbonyl groups (PCO), and protein crosslink formation were assessed after 30 days. Results: Both quercetin and rutin inhibited the formation of AGEs and decreased the PCO levels in a concentration-dependent manner, and moreover, the effect of rutin was more prominent than that of quercetin. Quercetin and rutin also decreased the formation of amino acid oxidation products and protein crosslinks; the best effects were observed in incubations with rutin. Conclusion: Rutin exhibited the most potent antiglycation and antioxidant activities, which may be attributed to the minor occurrence of interactions between albumin and rutin, making rutinnoside more available to exert its amino acid oxidation were also assessed spectrofluorometrically, with the respective excitation and emission wavelengths: dityrosine (330/415 nm) (product of tyrosine oxidation), N’-formylkynurenine (325/434 nm), and kynurenine (365/480 nm) (products of tryptophan oxidation). The fluorescence values relative to AGEs and markers of amino acid oxidation were obtained after arithmetic subtraction of the fluorescence of incubations of flavonoids with buffer from those of flavonoids incubated with BSA or BSA + glucose. The results are expressed in terms of arbitrary units (AUs) of fluorescence. The fluorescence intensities were measured using a microplate multimode reader, with a split set at 16 nm (Synergy TM H1, BioTek Instruments Inc., USA). the results expressed in mM), failed to prevent glyoxal-induced protein carbonylation, although the glyoxal-induced ROS formation decreased, whereas aminoguanidine decreased both ROS formation (1 and 5 mM) and protein carbonylation (5 mM). The authors suggested that metformin may act as an ROS scavenger. These observations may help explain, at least partially, our findings on the effects of metformin on reducing the levels of ","PeriodicalId":394666,"journal":{"name":"Revista de Ciências Farmacêutica Básica e Aplicadas - RCFBA","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131887823","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
