With the rapid increase in road transport the world over comes the need for enhanced driving safety and convenience. Advanced technological concepts ensure a perpetual scope for development in this sector. We are currently developing an RFID based system that will alert vehicle drivers about road oddities at an optimum distance before encountering them. The objective is to provide an alternative to road signs, which are generally scattered, inconspicuous and appear too late for corrective action. Also, the device will aid in averting accidents and traffic jams, and in implementing traffic law and order.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"11 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125764398","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is achieved by Lagrangian Mechanics and Variational Collision Integrators. Variational techniques are used to analyze the problem of rigid-body dynamics with impacts. Principles of nonsmooth mechanics for rigid bodies are used in both continuous and discrete time, and provide impact models for a variety of collision behaviors. The discrete Euler-Lagrange (E-L) equations that follow from the discrete time analyses yield variational integration schemes for the different impact models. These discrete E-L equations play a vital role in the method of discrete mechanics and optimal control, which generates locally optimal control policies as the solution to equality constrained nonlinear optimization problems.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125836191","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper Quasi-resonant serial interconnect link with a tunable active inductor is proposed to obtain low power, low latency and low area. The proposed scheme is implemented in a UMC 0.18-µm CMOS technology and the post layout simulations are carried out. The performance evaluation is done for 5mm interconnect with a serial data rate of 5Gbps. From simulations, the insertion point and the value of inductor for the minimum power-delay product is obtained. The observed delay and power of the serial link is 290 psec and 13.52 mW, which is less by a factor of 1.27 and 1.87 than the conventional repeater insertion respectively. The area of the active inductor is 1904µm2, which is less by a factor of 3.53 compared to spiral inductor scheme. The proposed scheme has the advantage to tune the interconnect, for data rates from 1Gbps to 5Gpbs by varying the bias voltages of the tunable active inductor.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"8 8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125002189","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The document can be accessed for the purpose of reading as well as modifying the XML file. In this paper, we present a design idea for a Generic XML Parser, which can be used to parse and reconfigure any valid XML file. The application of this parser is particularly useful in Software Communication Architecture where XML files represent the properties and parameters of hardware components and devices. A change in the parameters of the XML files changes the behaviour of the hardware components. By using this Generic Parser, the XML files can be reconfigured dynamically at the middleware level and hence control the behaviour of the hardware through software. This parser, when used at the middleware level to parse the XML files allows the user application to focus on the application logic itself, without dwelling on the tedious details of parsing the XML. This document gives formatting instructions for authors preparing papers for publication in the Proceedings of an IEEE conference. The authors must follow the instructions given in the document for the papers to be published. You can use this document as both an instruction set and as a template into which you can type your own text.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129861743","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

More importantly, the Future wireless networks are expected to have the privilege of ubiquitous connectivity extending its support to several applications. Hence effective mechanisms need to be developed to exploit the diversity across a multiple access points and to provide a uniform load distribution in order to improve the QoS of users and to improve the overall composite capacity. In this paper, we propose a cognitive handoff mechanism that adaptively applies full channel scheme before and First Satisfaction First Reservation Handoff (FSFR-HO) Mechanism after minimum delay limitation time of sensitive application used in MH by considering the current active application in use rather than a single fixed threshold value and dynamically changing the threshold value depending upon the currently active applications. In addition to it, we also propose distributive Load Balancing scheme which completely avoids unnecessary overloading of access points by considering the load at the target access point before associating with it.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"21 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128402360","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Segmentation of such images by using traditional methods shows poor results. In this paper we propose a Level set method by introducing a new adaptive force function on the level sets evolution. The force function is derived from reflectance & illuminations present in the image. This method is proved to be successful in segmentation of images by excluding the shadow regions present in the images.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128630362","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Linear and nonlinear filters have been proposed earlier for the removal of impulse noise; however the removal of impulse noise often brings about blurring which results in edges being distorted and poor quality. Therefore the necessity to preserve the edges and fine details during filtering is the challenge faced by researchers today. The proposed method consists of noise detection followed by the removal of detected noise by median filter using selective pixels that are not noise themselves. The noise detection is based on simple thresholding of pixels. Computer simulations were carried out to analyse the performance of the proposed method and the results obtained were compared to that of conventional median filter and center weighted median (CWM) filter.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129348718","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The prototype development includes building the hardware and software subsystems for the robot. The robot controller has developed using the Altera DE2 Development Board with the software implementation done in Quartus II 8.1 and NIOS II IDE using C language programming. Hardware development of the robot involves building the main chassis, the stepper motor and drivers, sensor circuitries and electro pneumatic controls of the air brush for painting. The software implementation includes converting the MATLAB code to C and VHDL codes to generate the coordinates when the area of the workspace is provided. These coordinates are used to specify the changes in length for the supporting string. The robot movements from point to point are done based on changing the respective suspension lengths to reach a particular coordinate. A path planning algorithm was developed and validated in MATLAB with two path options, z-path and u-path. The paint area was also plotted on the workspace in the GUI. In the functional prototype, the robot is able to paint a workspace specified by user, avoiding all windows area. However, the quality of painting needs to be greatly improved before deployments are possible.","PeriodicalId":394515,"journal":{"name":"2011 IEEE Recent Advances in Intelligent Computational Systems","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2011-11-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131954198","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
