A controller design approach which uses the approach of stretching is proposed. The approach produces a supervisory controller which guarantees boundedness and reversibility simultaneously. The designed controller also guarantees T -liveness for the largest possible subset T of the set of transitions. Therefore, boundedness, reversibility, and liveness are enforced simultaneously whenever possible. Furthermore, the designed controller is maximally permissive in the sense that no transitions are disabled unnecessarily and the reachability set of the controlled system is the largest possible set in which boundedness and reversibility can be enforced simultaneously. Controller design for an automated manufacturing system example is also presented to demonstrate the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":39422,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Systems and Control","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136112561","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Every situation can be understandably articulated in terms of suitable graphs by using various approaches of Semigraph theory. Considering the recent advent of the pandemic in the world and the precautions taken for prevention of the COVID-19, it is the most appropriate way to utilize the Semigraph models with practical as well as theoretical aspects to prevent this epidemic. This work defines the two types of variable sets depending on the time factor. In this project, the mechanism of infection of the virus has been described in a simple way. The prevention method of the virus infection includes the partition of the semigraph i.e. isolating from other non-infected persons. The whole world is using the same method while controlling the infection of viruses.","PeriodicalId":39422,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Systems and Control","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-10-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136013151","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the key projects undertaken was the creation of a new vision for safety. The aim was met by a team created expressly for the company. The Team placed a high value on PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), which is equipment meant to increase the safety of the Operators while doing their responsibilities. The problem that the Team has clearly warned about, given the frequency of occurrences, is the periodic maintenance of PPE, which is required by law for each device and must be carried out according to strict guidelines to maintain their efficiency and safety certification. As a result, the Team investigated a novel methodology, the topic of this article, based on hardware and software technologies designed to monitor the legal revisions and crucial dates of each piece of PPE in use.","PeriodicalId":39422,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Systems and Control","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135386683","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Breakdowns can cause delays in production, material damage, and above all, work-related accidents. For this reason, directives and legislation have been created at the country, European Union, and global levels that define the essential safety and requirements of industrial equipment. Guidelines must be observed by those involved in the design, supply, purchase, or use of industrial equipment in the European Union and several countries outside the European Union. Some guidelines (CAT, SIL) are created to ensure their safe operation in case of failure of both the hardware and the software. For a reliable operation of a fail safety system together with a system operating at SIL2 or SIL3, it must have Safety hardware and software. Industrial equipment manufacturers are incorporating security features into a variety of devices. Depending on the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements, these features can be used during the design phase to increase safety in the event of failures or malfunctions. With proper design, the process as well as its environment (including people) can be protected by entering a controlled safe state. Manufacturers have approached this problem in a number of ways, including adding redundant Central Processing Units (CPUs), using special hardware to interface input and output signals, and developing secure network protocols for communication. Unfortunately, these features cannot be added to existing machines, at least without upgrading some hardware. As the associated costs lead to slower adoption, manufacturers rely on previous work to support certain security features, notably CPU debugging. This is implemented in the form of software libraries that operate at a low level (logic gate), designed to run on older hardware (PLC) so that they can offer an increased level of security. This study analyzes the required guidelines and legislation that must be followed for the safe operation of a production unit. It describes the mechanisms that basic and specialized PLC systems utilize to ensure the safety of an automation system. The authors have developed algorithms to record behavior measurements of electronic equipment. By further analyzing the results, it is concluded that basic equipment can be reused in these systems to provide safety functions, at the same time conserving both cost and time.","PeriodicalId":39422,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Systems and Control","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134958277","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Numerous robots are technologically advanced by scientists for diverse tasks. Flexible robots are developed based on stated applications since they can adjust their geometry to the working situations. The present study introduces a wire-driven flexible robot stimulated by animal trunks. It can make a motion in planar and space based on the construction of that. Initially, a kinematic model was developed to predict end-effector trajectory, and then a dynamic model was established to compute the required tension of tendon wires based on bending beam theory. Models are simulated by MATLAB/SIMULINK Software and implemented by a generic controller. Various input functions are applied to the model, and outputs show good stability and accuracy. Based on these results, in future work, a WDFR will be developed and controlled by the current presented PID controller.","PeriodicalId":39422,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Systems and Control","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"136308567","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That is why it is necessary to improve the quality of life of citizens based on the improvement of transport control services. To solve this problem, there are solutions, related to the improvement of the road infrastructure by increasing the roads or paths. One of the solutions is using traffic lights that allow traffic regulation automatically with machine learning techniques. That is why the implementation of an intelligent traffic light system with automatic learning by reinforcement is proposed to reduce vehicular and pedestrian traffic. As a result, the use of the YOLOv4 tool allowed us to adequately count cars and people, differentiating them based on size and other characteristics. On the other hand, the position of the camera and its resolution is a key point for counting vehicles by detecting their contour. An improvement in time has been obtained using reinforcement learning, which depends on the number of episodes analyzed and affects the length of training time, where the analysis of 100 episodes takes around 12 hours on a Ryzen 7 computer with a graphics card built-in 2 GB.","PeriodicalId":39422,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Systems and Control","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135826134","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The imbalance of thyroid homeostasis might cause diseases such as hypothyroidism. Humans are exposed to PFOS/PFOA frequently since they have been used in various industrial products. As reported that PFOS/PFOA increase the metabolic clearance rate of thyroid hormones, we then develop a mathematical model in terms of a system of differential equations to investigate thyroid homeostasis based on the changes in the levels of thyrotropin-releasing hormone, thyroid-stimulating hormone and thyroid hormones when the effect of the exposure to PFOS and PFOA is also incorporated as well. The geometric singular perturbation technique is then employed to identify the possible dynamic behaviours obtained from the model. Numerical investigations are also presented to illustrate the results from theoretical analysis. Both theoretical and numerical results imply that a periodic behaviour that has been observed clinically in the pulsatile secretions of thyroid hormones, thyroid-stimulating hormone and thyrotropin-releasing hormone could be obtained from our model. In addition, the numerical experiment also shows that the levels of thyroid hormones and thyroid-stimulating hormone for the case when there is the effect of exposure to PFOS and PROA are lower than those of the case when there is no effect of the exposure to PFOS and PFOA which might lead to the imbalance of thyroid homeostasis.","PeriodicalId":39422,"journal":{"name":"WSEAS Transactions on Systems and Control","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"135826141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The novelty of the proposed solution lies in the diagonal stabilization of the system, which uses the idea of decomposition of the ostensible Metzler matrix, preserving the incomplete positivity of the system during the synthesis. The proposed approach creates a unified framework that covers compactness of interval system parameter representation, Metzler parametric constraints, and quadratic stability. Combining these extensions, all of the conditions and constraints are expressed as linear matrix inequalities. Implications of the results, both for design and for research directions that follow from the proposed method, are discussed at the end of the paper.
